Major vs Drako

The lights in the arena went dark until the USMC Eagle, Globe and Anchor emblem appeared on the blackened titantron screen before the background appeared to burn away, leaving a field of scarlet red in its place with the words Major Devastation above and below the ensignia in gold, military-style block lettering while Warrior by Disturbed began blasting over the PA system. Once the scarlet background on the screen was revealed, the arena lighting was replaced by mood lighting in a matching shade of red, alternating with gold to the beat of the music.

The Marine emerged from the tunnel with a US flag propped against his left shoulder and the Intercontinental Championship strapped around his waist as the lyrics to the song began, stopping in the middle of the stage to salute the crowd as fountains of red, white and blue sparks began spraying around him before he started down the ramp, zig-zagging from side to side in order to high-five some of the fans.

I am now an instrument of violence
I am a vessel of invincibility
I cannot leave this undecided
Stepping down to battle another day

Remember me for all time
This determination is a vital part of me
Surrender now or be counted
With the endless masses that I will defeat

As he reached the side of the ring, Major handed Old Glory to the ringside attendant and performed a standing leap onto the apron before stepping between the top and middle ropes to enter the ring itself, unfastening the belt as he did so. Devastation would then begin climbing the turnbuckles and playing to the crowd, holding the title high above his head in a Rock-like manner, before hopping down and handing the gold to the referee as he waited for the bell to sound.

While Major did find it a bit odd that Drako would actually want to grapple with someone who is 100 pounds heavier and six inches taller, he stepped in to accept the offered lock-up...only to be met with a punch to the ribs. He took a step backward as he recoiled from the unexpected shot, but he quickly stepped back in as he tried to nail the younger Damone brother with an uppercut.

Dammit!, thought Major when his uppercut met only air, which left his flank open for a strike from his smaller and somewhat quicker opponent. Once again, Major backed off by a couple of steps, but this time he would attempt to shoot in low, looking to bring Drako down to the mat with a double-leg takedown.

Considering that Drako wasn't the only person in the match with a working knowledge of submissions, Major had a pretty good idea what he was up to when his opponent started trying to wrap his legs around his neck.

Devastation remained calm and attempted to drive his kneecap into the kidney area of the younger Damone brother. If successful, the Marine would then try to pop his head out of the triangle and attempt to turn Drako's choke attempt into a Texas Cloverleaf.

Well, the good news for Major Devastation was that he successfully escaped the triangle choke...the bad news, however, is that before he could turn Drako over into the cloverleaf, he ended up getting rolled up into a small package.

The surprise of the pin attempt was good enough to get a two count before the Devil Dog rolled his shoulder off the mat and attempted to reverse the pinning predicament.

Shortly after Drako rolled up to his feet, Major showed off some of his athleticism by performing a kip-up. He then gave his opponent a quick smirk before he attempted to deliver a kick to the thigh of the man formerly known as Brandon Damone.

Major's leg was caught, but before Drako could try to begin applying torque to the ankle, Devastation would attempt to slam his other foot into the side of his opponent's head with an enzuigiri.
