Location: Their new owners home in the Rima forest.
Time Frame: They've just arrived at their new home.

Buzz stepped slowly across the threshold of his new home. He'd been in the agency for so long, in that small cage that walking into the huge foyer of the house was a little disconcerting. It didn't take him long though to begin his investigation of his new home. He found the library, with its walls covered in books, and a fireplace on the far wall. The windows were covered in dark fabric, which would lend well to his blending into the darkness of the room when he didn't want to be found. There would be many days of mischief for him to get into in this new home of his.

She didn't want to leave the car, but the woman who had taken her from the cage at the adoption agency seemed friendly enough. She watched as Buzz jumped down and ran into the house. She supposed if it was safe in his mind, she might as well give it a try. She stepped out of the car, and walked slowly up the front steps, looking left and right for any sign of danger. She sniffed the air as she stepped into the house. There was a big staircase in the middle of the room, leading up to the second floor. She could hear Buzz off to her right, so she decided to go in the other direction and explore. She entered a brightly lit room, full of furniture. Windows allowed the maximum amount of sunlight to filter into the room, making is very warm and friendly. She just knew she would be spending a lot of her time in this room. As long as she was alone that is. She didn't do well around a lot of humans and others of her kind. Living with Buzz was going to be a challenge, but she felt she was up to it.

The woman who had freed them from their cages stood there watching them each explore different rooms of her house. In her hands were two collars, both fitted with GPS, which she intended to equip her new children with.

Buzz came trotting back out of the library and looked around. He watched the human kneel down and gesture to him. He walked over and sat down in front of her. He wasn't sure what it was she was putting around his neck, but he didn't particularly like it. Once she was done, he started scratching at it with his hind leg. It didn't seem to want to come off. Resigning himself to this new indignation, he got up and walked into the room Pastel had entered.

She had found a nice, secluded spot to lie down in the sun, and was just starting to get comfortable when she saw Buzz walk into the room. She hoped he wouldn't see her, as she was not in the mood for any of his antics. There was something strange around his neck, which was not there when they entered their new home. She wondered what it was, and where he had gotten it. Her attention moved to the door when she saw the human enter. In her hand was something that looked like what Buzz had around his neck. The woman came towards her, and she shied back against the wall.

She knelt down slowly as she noticed the pup shying away from her approach. Speaking softly and in a soothing tone, she held out her hand to Pastel and waited to see if she would approach.

The human didn't seem to mean her any harm, and she was responsible for freeing them from their cages, so she decided to chance it and got up, moving towards her. Standing just within reach of the humans hand, she stopped where she stood.

She slowly reached out and put her hand on the pups head, gently stroking the fur on it's head. She held out her other hand, the one holding the collar, and allowed the pup the opportunity to smell it. This one was very skittish, and she knew she would have to take her time acclimating it to herself and her home.

Pastel slowly lowered her head to the outstretched hand and sniffed at the thing in the hand. It had no scent she was familiar with though. Not exactly sure what the human intended with it, she lifted her head back up and stared at the human.

Buzz quietly watched what was going on across the room and then decided he couldn't remain aloof any longer. He quickly crossed the room and came up behind the human. "It's okay 'Tel," he said, using the nickname he had given her when they first met. "It doesn't hurt. Just let it put it on you, and then it will probably leave us alone."

She noticed the male pup come across the room and sit down behind her.

She looked at Buzz and then back at the human. She inched forward, and lowered her head. The woman gently put the collar around her neck and secured it. Buzz had been right; it didn't hurt, but it did feel strange, and she shook her head back and forth, trying to get used to the feeling. "What do you suppose they're for?" She asked her new house mate. The human was getting up and backing away from them as she asked Buzz her question.

"I have no idea," replied Buzz, "but it can't be anything bad, right? Let's just go with it for now, and if it proves to be bad, I'll chew it off of your neck."

They both watched as the human left the room.

"Come on, let's go see where it's going. Maybe it has food for us. We're going to need to eat, and I could use some water."

She could see the benefit of what he said, so she came out from the corner and followed him out into the foyer. The woman was going down a hall to the left of the staircase.

They followed the human into a new room, and looked around the wide open space. There was more human furniture in one corner, and they could both smell food somewhere, though they couldn't see it anywhere. The human went to a door, opened it, and brought out a platter, from which came the scent of meat. The pups ears pricked up, and they quickly made their way over to the human. Sitting down near it, they patiently waited to see if the meat was for them.

She noticed them sitting behind her, and smiled to herself. Feeding them was one way to gain their devotion and trust. She opened a cupboard and removed two plates. Taking a knife from the drawer, she sliced two chunks of meat from the roast and placed them on the plates.

"Do you think it will give us some?" Pastel asked. "I'm so hungry."

"If she doesn't, I'm going to jump up there and get some for myself," replied Buzz.

They watched as the human placed the meat on the floor in front of them and then backed away, watching.

"Well, I guess that answers your question," said Buzz. He wasted no time grabbing the piece that was placed in front of him, and tearing it apart.

Pastel on the other hand was much more reserved. She slowly approached the plate and sniffed the meat. She tentatively licked it with her tongue, and when she had determined it was safe she picked it up in her mouth, looked around for some place secluded, and trotted over to the table. She made her way between the legs of the chairs and table and settled herself down to her meal.

Seeing that they were both eating, she filled a large bowl with water and placed it on the floor in one corner of the room. Then she went over to the door, which led out into the backyard of the large house, and propped it open. With their collars securely around their necks, she was not at all concerned with letting them roam free in the forest. She knew there were others of their kind living in the area, and she wanted them to feel totally at ease in their new home. It had never been her intention to keep them locked up in the house, or chained in the yard like some people did with their pets. She gave them one last look and left them to finish their meal.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Buzz watched it place water on the floor, and when he had finished the meat, he walked over and lapped up his fill of water. Then he headed for the smell of fresh air. He approached the open doorway and slowly poked his head out. Seeing nothing threatening, but instead a wall of trees, he suddenly had the urge to run. He turned to look back inside and said to 'Tel, "I'm going for a run. Care to join me?"
She looked up from under the table and saw him standing in the opening, which appeared to lead outside. A run? Was he crazy? Oh yeah, this was Buzz. Of course he was crazy. "No thanks. I think I'll stay right here."
"You don't know what you're missing,"
he said as he turned and ran off into the woods.
Pastel watched him run off and finished her dinner in peace and quiet; just the way she liked it. Once done, she got up and walked over to the water to quench her thirst. She sat down and proceeded to clean her face. She licked her paw and rubbed it across her nose and mouth. This continued for a while, until she was quite sure she had reached every possible place on her head.
Standing up, she stretched her back and took in her new surroundings. The room she was in was very clean, and brightly lit by all of the windows in the one wall. She walked over to the open door and poked her head out. Buzz was no where to be seen, so she turned around and decided to go investigate the rest of her new home.
She came out into the foyer where they had first entered the house. She first checked out the room that Buzz had initially gone into. It was much to dark and closed in for her liking, so she quickly exited and looking around, decided to venture up the staircase.
Buzz headed off towards the trees at the back of the yard. He'd never been loose like this before and it felt good to just run around. He stopped as he came up to the tree line. His nose sniffed the air, and his eyes darted back and forth amongst the trees. He might be a young pup, but he wasn't born yesterday. His instincts told him to be cautious, and that is just what he was doing.
He wings fluttered on his back, but that's all they would ever do. They weren't strong enough to lift him into the air. Sometimes he wondered why he was even born with them. But Pastel had wings too, and so did the others in the orphanage. Of course, he'd never seen any of them fly.
Not sensing anything out of the ordinary, he walked slowing into the brush and amongst the trees. It was darker under the canopy, as the sun could not shine down through the thick branches and leaves overhead. The ground was covered with dead and dying leaves, and gave off a musty smell. His feet made no sound as he lightly trod across the carpet of decaying foliage.
Rainbow starting walking forward. Geez what season was it? All these leaves were dead. He smelled the air, it smelt fresh aside from the smell of the leaves. Rainbow looked down at the dead leaves and tried to avoid hitting trees as he continued to walk foward.
Buzz could hear the sound of running water, and though he had just finished filling his belly with water back at the house, he couldn't resist the temptation to go see if there was any fun to be had. He headed toward the sound and came upon a fast flowing stream. There were small rapids here and there, as the water cascaded over the submerged rocks. He walked down to the edge of the water and put his two front feet in. The water was cold! He immediately jumped back and ended up on his rump.
*Thump* Rainbow had walked into a tree. Ugh! Where did this tree come from! He said annoyed. He had tried to avoid trees for so long he was getting tired. They were all over the place! This smell made him feel unclean and he needed to hop in some water. He stood on his two feet and scanned the area for a water source. There, straight ahead of him lay a steam. He ran to it. The water was quite clean, despite the rocks at the bottom of the stream. Then he noticed something odd a bit away from him in the water. It was black with yellow streaks. Look like it had wings and Antennas? He was sitting in the water. Rainbow approached from behind him. "Eruhmm..Excuse me.. ? Hello there lad.. Mind if I linger here for a little? " He asked. The Voronwe was only a little pup , " What are you doing way out here little one? "
Startled by the voice behind him, Buzz jumped up and turned around, backing a bit more into the stream. The tall male standing on the bank was unlike any he had seen at the Agency. This male was multi-colored like a rainbow. He had to stifle the urge to laugh out loud. He had to think for a second about what the male had asked him before he answered.
"I don't care if you stay. And I'm not way out anywhere. My home is just over there through the trees." He looked up at the male and continued, "Where did you come from? Are there more of us out here in the woods?"
He had never given any thought to the possibility of there being more like himself and Pastel, here in their new surroundings. Not wanting the male to think he was the least bit afraid of him, he walked out of the water, and shook himself to get the water out of his fur. Then he sat down and proceeded to lick his wet fur.
