"Mother! Mother?" Charon had made swift haste back to his mother's den only to find it empty...which was odd. She never, ever ventured from her den and for the first time in a long time he had news which - though troubling - was news she might be interested in. After all, the only other news he had to share was to do with Selene's love affair and that would certainly not please his mother. Ivie'lingwa did not delve into any discussion on matters of the heart.

Thankfully it did not take him long to track her down and he slowed his pace to match hers, taking a moment to catch his breath from his hastened pace.

"Where are you going?" He asked of her when she did not greet him.

"Into the pride." Her eyes snapped across to look at him. "Or is that suddenly forbidden?"

He immediately flinched away. "N-no, of course not...you just never...I mean. Are you well? I didn't think--"

"--Of course I am." She snapped back irritably. "I'm out, am I not?"

He gave a small, sad sigh, and dropped behind. Had she received a vision in regards to the trouble with the Shaman or had someone already told her the news he had overheard? Probably the latter. If she'd had a vision, she'd have been curled up tight in her den and be refusing to speak or move at all. In any case, she was up and about, and if the missing Shaman and apprentice had done this, then it was some small good that had come of the grave situation. She really did need to get out more.

Casting a glance around him, he wondered if anyone else was around to speak with. Maybe others had more news on the situation?

Perhaps he needed to get out more, too.

Koray was a slave, you know one of those really good looking ones that the girls all want but they of course want a higher ranking mate so just let the good looking guys stay slaves. Yep that was Koray. He had been born a slave and so was use to it really but like most males he wanted to climb the ladder and he was sure with all the drama of missing females that a female somewhere would just fall into him and love him for being there and being reassuring... though of course that was still yet to happen. So far a whole lot of nothing had come his way other then a mass of grumpy lions because some were missing... well who cared? He didn't.

How he came across the mother and son was anyones guess, he tended to keep out the way of anyone but pretty lone females and this female sure was ugly.. and sounded it as well. He lowered his head and tried to sneak past, after all who would be interested in a lone slave?

((hello m'love! That is a very handsome lion you have there! <3 ))

In truth, if Ivie'lingwa had been out in the pride lands alone, she would have blanked the young male completely or - at the very most - given him a threatening snarl. She had certainly become a hermit with the passing of time and social interaction for her had become a no-go area even now that she was in a pride and not an unsettled rogue.

Thankfully (or maybe not) Charon was not so keen to avoid meetings with others. Yes, he was a little shy and awkward, but he genuinely liked making friends and this was a male he hadn't met before which meant he was immediately interested in saying hello. He slowed his pace, paused to see if his mother would wait - it seemed she would not - and then moved across to greet him. And, for what it was worth, the slave was quite striking. He had a moon-white pelt touched with grey and purple. Certainly a noble look for one who had been born during a dark night.

At that moment in time, however, Charon was too much of a recluse to know the other's name, rank and relations. "Hello there!" He called out. "Um...I'm Charon. Is there...is there something going on?" He wondered what had gotten his mother so riled. Surely not more bad news? "Sorry, I...don't think we've met before."

Koray was at least lucky in the sense that the two didn't recognise him. Awesome, that meant he could pretend to be better then he was for a while. That would be fun.

"Hey, the name is Koray and I don't know I haven't heard anything more assuming you know about the missing lions in the first place?" Of course he was assuming they knew there were problems in the pride, it was hard not to know that something was going on but then if one closed themselves off then they probably wouldn't know.

"Whats your name?" He looked at the female wondering why it was she looked as if she could smell elephant dung. Of course he did check himself quickly to make sure he didn't smell of elephant dung just because it was a bit disgusting and well he did pride himself over his looks.

"No further news." Charon replied sadly. "I guess I hoped that maybe there had been some new development. Wishful thinking, I suppose." He sighed and shook his head as if to shake himself out of his slump. "I hate to see everyone so upset and...and angry." He thought of the situation with the heir and the slave, not yet making the connection with the lion before him. Charon was not all that familiar with the pride members, which was sad, really, considering he'd lived here all of his life.

However, when the young male called out to his mother - who had been walking away from them without much of a look back - he waved a paw fearfully. "N-no, it's best not to get her attention. She might--"

Uh oh, too late.

His mother's head snapped around at the sound of someone asking for her name and, with a loud snort, she scanned the two males as if she was surprised to even see them there. And then she recognised the male speaking with Charon.

A fierce growl erupted in her chest and she whipped around, stalking back across to them. "Charon! Get away from that male, this instant!!"

Charon flinched away, although it seemed he had the mind to ask her exactly why he should be getting away from Koray.

"That little beast is a slave!" Ivie hissed. "He's related to that low-class beast looking to get with our future leader." It still hurt her to think of the king who had so fondly welcomed her into these lands, only to lose his rank because of love. Ivie'lingwa no longer believed in love and to see it drive others to folly...it made her angry and hateful.

Charon gave a withering sigh. "That's my mother; Ivie'lingwa."

"I said get away!" The pale-green female insisted.

Charon took a side-step.

She'd heard the commotion, as she headed for the center of the pride's lands, and was curious as to what was going on. Her ears flicked as she frowned, before stepping out. "Why would being a slave be a problem for a guy? It's not like we're worrying about the KING falling in love with a slave..." Kizimwi smiled, ears pricking up. "Which either way, king or queen falling in love, I think it's awful romantic... And besides.." She gave Ivie a scathing look. "Aren't we supposed to PITY the slaves, shelter them, because the Great Lion wasn't looking when they were born? Not treat them like dirt under our claws?" Her attention turned to the slave, smiling once again. "Hello there! I'm Kizimwi!" She went over to him, as if proving he didn't have some sort of plague JUST for being a slave. "What brings you out here.. Um..." She stopped. "I'm sorry, I missed any name introductions..." She then looked at Charon. "Except you, you're in the same class as me! Hi, Charon!" When she'd returned to the pride, Kizimwi'd made sure she went to great pains just to learn EVERY lion's name within her class. As it was slowly becoming, she was starting to learn names outside her class, too, her mind turning to the gold lioness.

Oh brilliant she recognised him. Koray was a pretty good looking lion and generally managed to fool some who didn't know him into thinking he wasn't a slave.

"Oh no keep away from the nasty green lion she will give you rabies..." He said in a rather sarcastic manner. However he then turned as the female appeared to say he was slightly surprised by her manner was an understatement. Though he didn't need reminding of his family history - which was possibly why most of the time he didn't get away with pretending he was not a slave.

"Look what my father did, he did, yeah they loved each other and everyone knows the story. What can I say, I was born a slave, along with all my siblings. Oh and I am Koray... the slave." He thought he might as well introduce himself to the female that seemed to at least care about the fact that he wasn't just scum like the green lioness would have them think! He didn't like her, she smelt funny...

Ivie'lingwa did not notice the other female approaching - too caught up in her spluttering fury - but Charon did, and he seemed somewhat relieved to see the friendly and familiar face of Kisimwi. He was thankful, however, that she had introduced herself - he'd never been very good with names.

And, in response to her question about slaves, he opened his mouth to reply: "Well, I think that it's mainly--" Except he was cut off mid-sentence by his mother's cry of fury.

Ivie'lingwa, was bristling and snarling, pacing back and forth in quick, erratic lines. Her claws were out, digging into the soft earth beneath her. It was clear, from how angry she was, that she would have attacked the male by now - if she was not so fearful of sparking up a vision from the contact an attack might result in.

Charon, however, was at her side in an instant, pushing gently against her in an attempt to divert her attention elsewhere. But even he, a gentle and timid soul, had to curl a lip at the slave. He was by no means a lion who looked down at others for their rank, after all his dearest friend was a slave, but neither did he appreciate others talking to his only remaining family member that way.

"You should mind your manners, Koray." He responded in his polite tone, though his eyes had narrowed. "And remember that we all have a place here in the pride. My mother might overreact about things but she does have her reasons." His eyes shifted apologetically across to his class-mate. "And perhaps if you were kinder and more sympathetic, you might not be a slave now."

He shook his head and turned back to Ivie was still still fuming. "Come on, Mother, let's get home."

"He thinks he's gotten away with this." Ivie hissed. "He hasn't. He hasn't!"
