Velvet had been heading back to her home but the smell of apples had distracted her, she should eat them quickly and then have a drink, her father thought it a weakness to eat anything but meat, but she had to have something to eat, she never ate at home. Stopping and starting to munch on apples on the lower branches of the tree she didn't think too much about anything, many would think her family off, but they were her family. Then again they would probably think they were a bunch of monsters but she had never seen anything she might think of as monstrous behaviour there. They were a normal if different family as far as she could tell, but then how could you really say when your family was abnormal, it made your compass a little skewed. As it was she would enjoy the apples, smiling as she bit off of half of one just above her head. This was much easier now she was taller.

It had been quite some time since he had socialized. Well, it had been quite some time since he'd gotten out of spending family time with his mother. Maybe it wasn't such a good thing to weigh on her hand and foot, getting her what she wanted when she wanted it. It wasn't that his mother was demanding because she couldn't be further from it. Dallon only offered what he thought she would need, and if she declined he would do it anyway. Having high family values was something very important to the angeni mixed stallion.

Here he was, deciding to spend a little him time after his mother told him to go do so. Perhaps she just wanted some alone time with his father. It had been quite difficult for them with their three rambunctious boys constantly around. Now that they were all grown up it was easier to manage but still. His mind got to reeling itself around a certain mare. Somebody who he missed deary, oddly enough. When he first found her little basket he couldn't be more annoyed but over time something had grown on him.

As if right on cue he heard a loud snap of fruit, apple was his guess. He cautiously tip toed his way towards the sound, since it wasn't far off from his path. Peeking around a large tree trunk he witnessed his very thoughts coming alive. "Velvet," he cooed to himself before making his presence known. "It seems I no longer need to pick you fruit from trees anymore, hm?" he spoke in his usual monotone voice but his eyes held a hint of happiness. Only those who were close to him could tell when he was truly happy because his expressions were so faint.

Looking round as she swallows her mouthful of apple, beaming at him, she was always happy to see Dallon, after all he had been her only friend for a long time as a foal, even now she didn't exactly have many of those. Biting the last of her apple off the tree and chewing, it had stopped her blurting out a greeting she knew would bug him, he had always seemed to hate it when she called him handsome but she couldn't help it if that was what she thought. Swallowing the last of the apple she smiled again. "Oh hush... I had to get taller eventually...." Poking her tongue out at him, still childish at times, but then she had always been a little odd and in some ways it was part of her charm. Moving closer she gives him a small nudge by way of an affectionate greeting, he had seemed uncomfortable with nuzzles and she didn't like not showing her liking for him so while it looked clumsy and innocent it was as good a greeting as any. "You going to share some apples with me?" Smiling brightly, her mood much improved by his arrival and the idea of sharing a meal. Though it would probably fade again when she got past that to the thought of heading home, it was her siblings she mostly had issues with but still home was home.

When her green eyes had first laid upon him Dallon couldn't help but stifle a little chuckle. She looked absolutely ridiculous with a mouth full of apples and juice trickling off her chin. It wasn't exactly lady like but that's what he loved about Velvet. She didn't care. She was different. Unique. "I suppose so, but I gotta say, I liked it when you were punier," his unenthusiastic voice was always so ... average. Though the look in his eyes could tell her that he found this to be humorous, even if the look was minor.

The mare causally made her way over to Dal and he was taken by surprise when she gave him a little nudge. His eyes momentarily widened in response as he gave her a strange side glance before easing into the idea. "Apples..." he tore his attention away from the awkwardness that was bubbling inside of him and used her question as the distraction. "Oh, of course. If you'll have me join you, that is," he gave a ghost of a smile before stepping up to the tree with her and rearing back on his hind legs to reach a particularly ripe red apple. He tugged it down all together and bit a chuck of it before the rest dropped to the ground. He munched slowly, waiting to finish chewing his food before going in for another bite of the morsel. He had to remember the manners his mother taught him. "I haven't seen you in a while..." The Angeni mix flicked his eyes up to the girl, waiting for an update on her life.

Velvet watched him, her smile fading for a moment and poking her tongue out at him. "You be punier, what was so great about me being punier?" Turning enough to give his tail a tug as she had from the first time she could reach it. Eyeing another apple, letting him join her, she liked his company, and he put up with hers. Copying him for a moment as she reared up to try one of the higher apples, this still not totally red but it was mostly there, munching it all and then licking the juice off of her lips and chin. "You just haven't been looking.... but then thats probably a good thing..." Deciding to pull his leg a little, she liked playing games on Dallon, and this is one she had yet to play but something he had said to her a while ago spurred her on. "You wouldn't have liked it, so annoying..." Sighing in a put upon falorn way, doubting he would get the teasing, besides she hadn't come across a full grown stallion that even showed a remote flicker of interest in her, but it would be fun to tease him, after all he was going to chase them all off, though she had no idea why....

Question was valid and of course when he felt the tug on his tail he lifted his head high, eyes so wide that his red pupils looked like tiny dots in a black abyss. Once he got used to the idea of how things used to be when she'd pull his take all those months ago he blushed faintly at the embarrassment of how easily he had forgotten. "Well, for one thing, you didn't always used to be able to reach that," he smirked a bit mischievously and gave his little buck tail a flick.

When her words began to get vague his eyes narrowed on the strange girl. She was so unspecific with her words and no doubt it was to hide something from him. "Oh?" he began resorting back to using as few words as possible. Something he commonly did whenever he felt spurts of nervousness. "Being bothered?" he puffed up slightly. Dallon had a protectiveness over this young girl that he rarely had for anybody. She was like his kid in a way and wanted to make sure that nobody was hurting her, physically or emotionally.

Looking at his little tail she smiled, and giggled, she had done her best to get at it though, though the few times she had she was sure it had hurt. Looking back at her fox like tail and giving it a wag shrugging, pretty sure her tail would eventually become fodder for foal teeth and hers was a fair bit longer. Laughing a little, unsure and blushing as he looked at her with narrowed eyes, turning away to hide her embarrassment as she nudges another apple from the tree, leaning down to take a bite, having smothered her laughter as he puffed up all protectively, only to sigh. "No... mores the pity..." Taking a bite out the apple, not looking at him, just having been teasing but it had backfired onto her, not sure why but she was finding herself lonely, not sure why she was the only one in her family that wanted company of others, they all seemed more happy alone, but then company might betray you, was a weakness... Her father could be so harsh sometimes... Though it never occurred to her that her fathers blood might be what others were afraid of...

Pity? He didn't quite grasp the understanding of her words though it seemed like she wasn't to bothered by it. He wouldn't pry, so long as she didn't show tell tale signs that she wanted him to. That was something about others Dallon couldn't exactly understand fully. Why do some Soquili speak some words and then go and do the exact opposite. Why did others have to be so complex and difficult to figure out? He let loose his puffiness and just deflated before her eyes.

"Tell me..." he began with a somber tone, eyes drifting lower and lower, to her chest, to her knees and then finally to the ground her hooves rested upon. "Why do you mislead me?" The question was so simple and yet so complicated. He knew she had a certain way of threading him around her and getting him worked up over nothing but why? Why would she put him through such things? Was it only for her own enjoyment? Did she like messing with what little emotion he had?

She looked at him, her expression showing guilt, he would see it that way, though really she hadn't meant it that way. Lowering her head, her ears drooping. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean it that way..." The why being very embarrassing and would lead to questions. After all how could she explain her odd need to be cared for, and her thrill at knowing he cared enough to want to defend her honour, though that was probably changed now. Looking at him finally, her eyes sad. "I... guess I said it because I didn't believe anyone would really care... I mean, sure the idea and words come so easily... but they never get acted on." At least not the good ones, to her thinking only threats got backed up with what they promised. Not that her parents were mean or mistreated her but she felt the odd one out in her family, she cared too much and had no idea why.

Dallon's shocking red eyes hung in the blackness of his sockets, seeming to be gazing at each blade of grass, darting his eyes around as if nervousness was taking over him. It was just his not knowing what to do with her words that left him so calm and crazy at the same time. His body wouldn't allow him to act his feelings but inside something was happening. Something unfamiliar. "I might not say the things you want to hear, but I care." He never lifted his eyes up to meet her, afraid that something was wrong with his face right now. He never held this sort of expression so strongly before, or any expression for that matter but his eyebrows were furrowed together in frustration and held a stinging pain of sadness. How could she be so selfish to think that nobody cared about her? Then again, her parents, or at least one of them, were monsters. It was in her blood too, but most of the time he forgot about that sliver of her.

She would have to introduce him to her family some time, her parents were caring enough but not in the way she saw other parents, though her parents were loved very much by her. Her siblings on the other hand, she classed them as indifferent at best to her. Shuffling her hooves in the grass and looking at them, feeling somewhat shamed by his words. Sighing softly, everything that popped to her tongue dieing there. Looking at him finally, her expression guilty and unsure. "Thank you..." Not sure what else to say, or do for that matter. Wandering away from him a little, thinking it would be so much easier to be able to read his mind, but then seeing how he thought of her father and in some respect her would hurt. Or was it worse for her mother, the one that had given her life to a monster and born his monster spawn.... But none of this was anything she knew.

Thank you? That's what he got for explaining his protective feelings over the mare? For some reason it left him feeling disappointed and somewhat bitter. The reasoning behind these emotions he was feeling were unclear though. So what if she didn't care about him the same way?

"Vel..." he spoke in the softest voice he could conjure up, though that wasn't difficult for him since all his words were nearly mute. "You confuse me. I say things i'm not used to and receive words that leave me... frustrated." The intimidating looking stallion actually appeared defenseless in this moment. His eyes softening as he casted them down towards the dirt. What was that? Expression? He was actually expressing his disappointment? This was a good improvement from his usual blank face.

Another stab of guilt hit her, she had disappointed him... Her eyes lifting to his looking sad and lost. "Dallon...." How could she explain, neither of them said everything that needed to be said. Sighing she opted for his own words because they seemed most apt. "I might not say what you want to hear.... But I care." Moving closer she wiggled her way under his wing, and rested her head on his neck like she had when she had been very small. "Tell me about your family? Please?" Looking up at him, wanting to learn more bout him, about other things, wanting to understand how to be a better friend to him, to not disappoint him again. Maybe if she understood more she could take that defenceless look from his face, it made him look so very lost. Murmering softly. "I don't want to disappoint you again..."

Dallon took a deep breath as she repeated his own words to him and for some reason instead of comfort it felt like she was insincere. She just took his heart felt words and spewed them back at him, but he wanted to believe they were true. He wanted to pretend like she wasn't capable of lies but then again she held the filthiest blood of all in her veins. How could he invest so much time and what little emotion he had into such a creature? When she nuzzled her way against him he flinched to pull away but something about her pulled him in and he just let his wing lay over her side, keeping her close. He wanted so bad to fix her, but nothing needed fixing other than her heritage. "You want to know about my family?" he asked softly and lowered his eyes. "Why? You could never meet them..." he wanted to point that out now. He wanted her to know as little as possible about his family and his family to know as little about her as possible. What would his father or brothers say if he brought home something with demonic skinwalker blood in it? He would be shunned for sure.
