Link walked along the lake beach with his head hung low. The chains on his wrist softly clinked with every other step. His face emotionless as he walked on, there was no reason to smile or cry. Link would only do so if there was a reason to. Days just seem to fly by, years seemed like days and days were like seconds. Maybe it was just because he was alone? It had been years since he had last spoken to a wolf and weeks since he had seen one. The only reason he could remember what one looked like was seeing his reflection in the cold lake. Would it have been better if he had stayed with his old pack? This thought often creeps into his mind. No, it would be torture to stay there and rot. Was the thought that always defeated the previous.

The dark fur rippled as the young female shuddered, allowing her shoulders to loosen slightly. She was beginning to feel a bit of stress. She didn't know why. She supposed it was the lack of food. She wasn't actually that hungry, but tell that to her instincts, which kept her moving almost nonstop for the last few weeks. She hunted for a stable source of food in a futile manner, hoping that it might slow her endless treading. It wouldn't stop it, but one couldn't really complain. Instincts are what kept a wolf alive.
With a deep breath she started foreword again. She found herself away from the river again, she could only follow it for so long before you had to stray from it's guiding path. It didn't stop her from latching onto the scent of water. She thought she might find another river to follow, but as she neared the area the lack of sound betrayed it as standing water. Adding another half-dejected sigh she passed the tree line and jumped a bit, shocked.
Him again?!
A second glance and a scent soon calmed her though. This green wolf was not the obnoxious mint she had met when she first found this land. She settled herself, trying to mask her momentary shock, and greeted the new, manned, chained wolf a bit cautiously.
"Ah, hello, I hope I'm not interrupting?"

Link stopped as the words of another wolf ran through his ears. Not masculine, no, this was a female. It had been even longer since he had seen and heard one of those. First his ears faced the new comer, than the rest of his body followed. The chain rattled as he turned. Link focused on the wolf's eyes, his kind blue eyes reflecting the rising sun. "no..." He nearly whispered.

She blinked and flicked her ears at the wolf, surprised by the quietness of her voice. It was quite obvious that he wasn't frightened of her, which was usually the cause of a lightly spoken wolf. Blinking again at the jingling of the chain, she responded finally, and definitely awkwardly. "Ah, good, I was afraid I had stumbled on someone else’s territory."

Link shook his head slowly. Last he remembered there was no ownership of this land. This bit he was not all too familiar with, but knew enough to keep him out of trouble. The tone of the female's voice was odd, than again did all females sound like that? He couldn't remember.

She tilted her head slightly. Maybe he didn't like to talk? She considered the possibility that he just didn't want her around, but he seemed polite enough, and his attitude betrayed no hint of impatience.
"M'name's Hati,"she added, a bit out of nowhere. She had a feeling he wasn't going to prompt the pleasantries that seemed nessasary to her.
"Are you new to these parts as well?"

"...Link" He added his name. If she was willing to give her's than he would be willing to do the same. He lifted his head and straitened his posture. Though it had been a long time since he had been in his old pack he remembered the elder's words, "don't slump damn it!" It was rude, right? Maybe not, but he still remembered and lived by many of the elder's words. "I'm fairly new to these parts." (( Couldn't resist Link's famous line XD ))

((*fangirls over quote*)) Hati flicked her ear again, having to concentrate a bit so that she didn't miss his quiet speech. She had grown used to almost loud wolves as of late. Not to mention that she wasn't exactly quiet herself. She considered his name for a moment, before deciding that it fit him well. Short, but full of meaning. She could understand that.
"I thought so. Then again, I could have been very wrong. Alot of wolves I haven't met have lived here longer then I have been alive," she added thoughtfully, her typical musings managing to come through again. She needed to think quieter she supposed.
She really wanted to ask about his chain though. It was too uncouth to just ask someone you didn't know something with the potential to be so personal, but she was curious. She finally decided to just try not to think about it.
"Pleased to meet you Link," she tacked on, a bit belatedly.

"It is nice to meat you too." Link lowered his head in a respective bow. This wolf seemed nice, chatty, but nice. The chain rattled as he moved closer to Hati. It was just a bit awkward, even for him, to talk at a distance and with his voice it must have been hard for her to hear. " I have only been here for seven moon rises. " He looked up to the setting moon. Mist was starting to rise from the lake as the sun climbed higher in the peach and light blue sky.

She blinked, almost surprised that he had responded. There went the feeling that she was getting the hang of different personalities. She almost laughed at herself. She realized belatedly a few seconds later that she could actually hear him clearly from this distance, and it took actually contemplating the idea of traveling in the winter to bring that to her notice. Seven days, that meant much less time then even she had been there. She had arrived during the late autumn herself, but she had already lived one winter away from her childhood home. Hati had left her pack in the summer, and even with months of experience hunting alone the first winter had hit her hard. This wolf was tougher then one would expect.
She glanced into the direction he was looking. It was the moon. Not for much longer. She half smiled at it; it was, according to her grandmother, her eternal guide. Old wolves were always so cryptic.
"I see."

Link focused back on the wolf ahead of him. Was she from around here? Maybe she was just passing too. Some wolves just didn't have a home and wondered around with the world as their home, like he did. He often wondered what it was like to settle down. Just be in one place for the rest of a life time. Even as a pup he didn't stay in one place for very long. This place wasn't very different and he did not plan to stay long here either.

She watched the moon fade with the same kind of interest she had as a child. It's mysteries were to never be known by one such as herself, whatever being called it in and out of the sky was much bigger then she could comprehend. As it lightened enough to lose the sight of it, she glanced back toward the other wolf to find that his attention had turned back to her. Well, wasn't she an observant one?
Sighing inwardly at herself again, she decided to prod a bit more, "are you searching for something? It seems to me that many others are,"

"Isn't everyone?" There was nothing sarcastic or rude on his voice. He was very serious on his answer. Everyone was looking for something weather they though about it or not, in Link's view. What he was searching for was a satisfaction to his need for wandering. To find A place worth staying. Maybe his quest was not far off? Maybe it was? He never really thought hard into it. Personally he loved to see the new lands and what kinds of magic they had to them. This one in particular had beautiful water, although he preferred to travel in the woods.

Hati grinned a bit at his response, how very philosophical. He seemed so serious, usually serious wolves were also angry and bitter, although there were exceptions to every rule she supposed. "Ah, nothing tangible then?" she asked in a lighthearted way, shifting her feet a bit. She was beginning to feel a bit stiff again. It was rather cold out. With a controlled stretch she padded foreword a bit closer to the water, looking down to see how deep it went. Not far it seemed. She glanced about a bit, looking for a stream that fed into it, and not finding one. There went a chance to find another river. Flicking her tail distractedly she turned back towards the other wolf with another slight grin.
