It was a nice day and all, sun shinying, birds chirping, all that jazz. It didn't matter to Dunstan though, he could care less about all of it. He was bored and looking for something to do. He was hoping for something epic, like fighting off something evil or save a mare in distress, but since he hadn't found any of that, right now just about anything would do.
He had been shooed away from home earlier that morning by his chosen, Leks, who had work to do and insisted that Dun was just getting in the way with his constant nagging that they should be doing something rather than just sitting around. So in the nicest way possible Leks told the stallion to get lost.
So he had been wandering around for a while now, finding nothing to do and moping about it, holding out some kind of hope that maybe he could yet find something.

The mare had been traveling the lands for a while, her hooves scratching up dirt. She was heading toward the King's Castle, but it took longer than she thought. The mare had gotten lost a few times getting turned around. She was trotting around the fields now, her mane and tail trailing behind her in a fluid motion.
Pheonix then noticed the large, brown stallion with horns on his head. He looked interesting, a little lost like she, but also a little mopey. Why was he so saddened? She began to grow slightly curious of him, but tried to keep her mind off the other. She shouldn't be interested in this guy...
And yet her feet were moving to walk over to him, her ears perked forward in curiosity. She whickered toward him in greeting, red eyes gazing toward him inquisitively.

Dun had been relatively lost in his moping and muttering here and there about his terrible luck to be so bored other things, so he didn't notice the mare and might not at all if she hadn't greeted him. When he heard her and looked in her direction, his mood picked right up. Sure he might not have found any hero-ing to do today but another azrein was the something he had been hoping for.
He trotted over to the mare, smiling now as he decided to speak to her "Hello, it is good to finally see someone else on this day so dull."

Her head tilted looking toward him curiously, his frame much larger than hers, and his horns looked dangerous. Yet he was quite friendly, even gentleman-like. Her ears twitched, nostrils flaring as she gazed at him with interest. "A dull day? It's...quiet. That's all." Pheonix came a little closer taking in his scent. "You have horns...who are you?"
His hooves dug into the dirt a little looking toward him. There was something a little bit more interesting than the female she had met earlier. Did all horses here have some sort of...mutation to their bodies? Her wings were vestigial and probably only used for mating. Yet his horns could not only be used for attractive, but also defense. His unusually furry body also meant he might be better suited for colder environments. Had he come from the mountains?

"But quiet is dull," Dun replied as he took in his new acquaintance. She was certainly and interesting looking mare, the bright warm colours and her tail to name a few things, she was certainly anything but dull and that made him happy.
"Oh yes, my name is Dunstan, or Dunny, or Dun, which ever, though to be honest I prefer the last two. I do have horns and I live around here, sort of... and who might you be?" the stallion inquired.

Her nostrils flared studying him a little feeling studied. She wasn't sure how she felt about his eyes roaming her form, but she did do that a few minutes ago herself. "Dunstan...Dun...e" The mare took in his name studying it in her mind. What was with the 'D' names lately?
"I'm Pheonix. Or Phe." Her voice was calm, her tail waving making her feathers rustle like the winds. "It's nice to meet you..Dun-e." Her eyes fell on his horns then to his eyes. He had such big eyes. "What are you doing out here?"

"Trying to find an adventure," Dun replied happily, unaware of the fact that the other azrein seemed to be studying him so. Even if he had noticed, he probably wouldn't have cared. "Like I mentioned though, the day has been dull and there has been nothing."
"What brings you to this area? Is there anything you might need assitance with?" subtly was not his strong suit and it was pretty clear that he was really hoping that there was something that she might need help with so that he might have something to do.

"Adventure?" The mare's head tilted in curiosity, her tail waving behind her causing her feathers to shift and move gently. Her eyes met his just as inquisitive as always. "The day is just starting. It won't end for a while." It's true, no one could control time, but the best could be made from it.
At his question, she tilted her head a little. Why was he being so...chivalrous? Was he that bored? Her nostrils flared, nose wriggling a little before she came forward standing a few inches away from him. His scent was...earthy...slightly powerful and strong musk. Daria didn't smell like that...it was strange how all seemed to vary in smell, but it wasn't something she was unfamiliar with.
Her mind wandered again, and soon she found herself staring at him. It took her a moment to think back to his question. "Well..I'm trying to find the King's castle. I believe he may know who my Master is. I must find him to find my purpose in this world." Her voice was not as strong as before, eyes looking down a little in thought and maybe a hint of sadness...Again she momentarily forgot where she was.

Dun really hoped that she was right, that there was still some potential left in this day. In truth he was being so nice because he was as bored as he was. If he had something to do, a place to go or an epic quest to under take he might have just dismissed her and be on his way, but not today.
When she answered his question though he got a little disheartened and he went from his chipper self back to his mopey self in a blink of an eye. "The castle? I don't know where that is," He muttered, as much to himself as to the mare.

Pheonix tilted her head with a bit of a confused eye. Her ears flicked forward with a bit of a snort. It seemed as though this stallion was bored with his life - even if he would have a purpose. At least he could find a purpose better than she. He had his right to choose...
The mare's eyes refocused back on him as he spoke. He seemed disappointed that he didn't know where the castle was. "And here I was thinking you wanted an adventure." She chided him gently, though there was a hint of laughter in her eyes. The bird-mare flicked her feathered tail cantering from Dun in the direction she thought would lead her to King Azreth's castle. "Care to follow, Dun-e?"

Being teased, even if it was only slightly did nothing to improve Dun's mood. He snorted a little, to express his annoyance at the whole situation and was ready to go on all sullen and pout some more.
However when Phoenix headed off, his mood did a complete one-eighty yet again. He perked up and trotted after her, chipper once again, "Why of course I would accompany you fair lady."

Pheonix tilted her head at this strange stallion. He was such a brat at one minute and the next he was extremely...chipper. Like their conversations hadn't happened or he didn't realize what a foul mood he was in. She wondered if all Azrein were this complicated or only the ones she had met so far. Then again, this land was still new to her and well..so was everything.
She stretched her neck and legs for a moment waiting for him to catch up. She continued at a leisure pace, her demeanor starting to relax from what it used to be. The mare gave a bit of a snort looking toward him. "Fair lady? Told you my name was Pheonix, Dun. Or have you forgotten? Or is this something you say to everyone?" Her tail flicked idly as she studied him carefully for any change in personality or demeanor. Unfortunately for her, that was a tad bit difficult. He changed more than the directional patterns of bugs.
