Let's see i'm the leader of this guild and wanted to have a place where serious jazz folks can learn and congregate about things jazz related. Well i'm a sax player mostly Tenor i've had my fair share of bands rock, metal, pop, cover(too fun!), funk, blues, and of course jazz. I'm originally a clarinet player but i switched to sax when i was 12 so i can double and solo on clarinet just fine. I can fiddle around with drums and know your bare basics about them. I also play guitar which i'm not that good at but i can read tabs and such and copy people by watching and listening. I've been playing music for a loooooooooooooooong time but i wont tell ya my age eek I'm curently in a 17 piece big band and we play whatever we can and wheerever we can. I'm also a member of the University of Washington Husky Marchingband i'm a bandgeek through and through. Jazz became an important part of my life when i was 16 and learned i could solo, so i grew musically from there.
I'm an avid videogamer and my collection consists of mostly fighting games and RPG's. I own the three big consoles X-Box, PS2 and GameCube.
I'm an Anime Otaku through and through i've traveled to conventions on both coasts. (I got to meet and play my sax for Yoko Kanno in New York!) I try to cosplay and play my sax at anime conventions.
hmmm have i said enough? eek

I've been playing piano ever since I was born, but have been taking lessons for 14 years. I wanted to play saxophone when I was 10, but it was too popular and I got "stuck" with the clarinet (wasn't too happy, but people told me it's a good starting point). The next year I got the saxophone(rented from school). Just before high school, I got my very own sax(yes I paid part of it). I haven't played it recently, but I've been playing for about 8 years. What I'm doing most of now is singing. I'm in a choir, and we're doing the St. John Passion. I enjoy almost every genre (get that country away from meee!!), but especially jazz heart . I've even composed a couple jazz songs, and arranged regular, classical stuff into a jazzy-like genre! whee I'd like to develop my singing more, even in jazz, and get back to the saxophone too.

Introductions-eh?
Hi! [waves] smile
Well- I'm a music major! [super band geek-lol!] B.M.E. BABY!!! xd I love jazz-always have. Woot! blaugh Been playing sax [alto] since fifth grade...so-erm...11 years or more now ^^;; Though-I also started on piano [when I was five]-played by ear mostly-but I never took "actual" lessons till college-so I kinda taught myself. Being a music major-I've learned most of the other instruments too [during methods classes]-so I won't bother to list 'em all ^^;; I was in the top jazz band here at my college my freshman year-but haven't been able to participate since due to schedule and money conflicts-but I'm in Jazz Ped. right now and teaching three sax students -all three of which are super interested in learning a lil bit about jazz ^_________^-so it's fabulous!
I also love anime!!! I haven't went to any of the con's or anything kewl like that [gives envious look to our leader-lol!]-but I've almost went like 3 times now!!!! sweatdrop Random comment-anybody seen Otakudum?-it's fricken hilarious!!!
Anyways-my HS buddies and I would have our own anime fests blaugh -and pour over manga...^____^...good times!!! -cuz sadly-anime wasn't really appreciated or accepted at our school...so I guess I'm kind of a double nerd...music and anime...but in gaia-that's kewl-right?

Hey, people, I'm new here. :3 My name's Julie . I'm 15 (16 in July!) and spent many years playing my instruments. It all started a long time ago when I first got my recorder (learned how to play Mary had a Little Lamb with my nose! biggrin ) back in third grade. In 5th grade I received my very first clarinet and it goes on from there. My main instruments are Clarinet, Bassoon, and Tenor Sax. I've been play clarinet for 6 years now, bassoon for 3, and tenor for... almost one. XD I've been into Jazz since 6th grade and have loved it ever since!
I do whatever I can to help out the kids in my school band and really try to encourage them to join our jazz band. Which is probably not good because most bands have around maybe 15 members, right? Well, we have two bands, first of all, and our top band has about 30 members!!! I play clarinet in that band and tenor sax in B Band. I picked up tenor because I didn't think people would take a soloing clarinet too seriously (and I like the sound) but now that I've actually done it, I'll be soloing on clarinet more often.
I admire the clarinet greats like Benny Goodman and Artie Shaw, and have really been working hard to get my tone likes theirs. Hopefully I'll get there someday. :3

Hello fellow jazz cats, My name is Kenpo, I am a senior in college, majoring in Music performance (and possibly music ed./multimedia if i get around to it). My primary intrument is the trombone which I've played for 12 years. I also play a bit of jazz piano, and have learned many of the instruments through my colleges courses. I arrange, compose, play in my music program's top Jazz esemble, various jazz combos (including a Dixieland combo), I teach two courses here, and tour with various big bands during summer.
I Love creativity. Every and anything that has to do with it. Some of my dream projects are film making, opening a restuarant, theme park, music performance and composition, and many other creative endeavers.
Of course i am also an avid fan of anime. blaugh

Hey, I'm all new and such. I'm Chris, I'm a senior in high school. I've played the bass for 7 years now. I've played the trumpet for 8, but sadly I've sort of let that go as of recently. I live in Maine, went to the Southern Maine Regional Jazz Fest for bass as a junior, didn't try out this year. Went to the All State Jazz Fest as a junior and senior. Done jazz camp since I was a freshman. I actually just auditioned for a scholarship the other day. Sadly, I didn't have enough time to prepare a Parker peice and played Autumn Leaves instead. Oh, well. I'm a big fan of bop. That's me...nice to meet you guys.

Ah! Hello all! I'm 14, and fairly new to this whole jazz thing. I've been intereted in it for about two years now. I'm in both the choir and the jazz choir at my school, and absolutely love both ( even if jazz choir is a tad earlier than desirable sweatdrop ) My all-time favorite jazz singer is Billie Holliday ( I haven't been introduced to many jazz singers, seeing as none of my friends are into it, and I have no money....) My wildest dream is to become a professional jazz singer, but I'm pretty sure that'll never happen... I also like anime/manga and drawing... but when it comes to drawing I'm horrid... so I don't really practice enough. Music is one of the most important things to me, and it makes me really sad when I can't sing ( I've been sick crying ). erm.. I don't really know what else to say... so yeah.

You know what we should do? Start a thread where people introduce smaller unknown artist everyone should check out (and include why, of course). Kind of like the profile thread, but slightly different. Sometime, sometime.
