He'd been tracking a youma for almost half an hour now and the stupid thing kept getting away from him. He was about to have to start calling it not so stupid and that didn't make him happy. He wasn't suppose to get outsmarted by the things. He wasn't -quite- sure though that it was smart and not just some sort of odd tricky thing that he just couldn't see yet. He'd been so close three times and then all of a sudden it was gone off somewhere.
"Why can't you just be a normal stupid beast." He grumbled as he slipped into a junkyard. Whatever it was had to be hiding there. He could -feel- it and it hadn't moved in a while. The only problem was now he was surrounded by junked cars from the last thirty years it seemed and the youma could be hiding anywhere.
While the senshi was watching the youma, it seemed as though the youma had its eyes (if they could be called that) on someone else. The young woman had followed the 'sense' of something to this very location and then she had promptly forgotten what had brought her out, lost completely in the wonder of varying artistic opportunities that a junk yard offered... Not to mention the cars themselves.
It was like a nightmare and a dream all rolled up into one.
Funny, of course, that a good bit of her life had been like that as of late. She never would have guessed that moving back to Destiny City would have been so odd and it was killing her inside that she couldn't write to her sister about half of the things that had been happening. It had never been like her to be vague when it came to relaying tales to her sibling.
He heard a rattle in the junk and ducked closer to a pile of metal on the other side of the isle than the noise. This was such crap. Youma were suppose to just come out and attack not try to hide and jump out at him around a corner. He was so calling bullshit on this one once he'd dusted it. Picking up a piece of pipe he swung it carefully before something else registered in his senses.
Senshi
There was another one here somewhere and if he was feeling it right not too far from the youma either. Sighing he hefted the pipe over his shoulder. "Hey! Whatever you do stay away from the junk pile with the red caddy." The youma was in that pile somewhere and the last thing he wanted to do was have to play savior for another senshi. Even if being the knight in dashing clothes was pretty damn fun
"Excuse me?" Her brow quirked as she glanced over her shoulder only for her vision to be obscured by the side of a hood that hadn't quite gotten the hint that when she turned it was supposed to turn with her. Her brow furrowed slightly as she jerked her head in an attempt to shift a bit of the fabric, eyes narrowing when she couldn't see the source of the voice. What had she done? Wandered into some hobos house?
Probability? Likley.
"Alright, alright. I'll stay away from whichever car you've been sleeping in... Not here to cause any problems anyways. I'm one of the good guys." Maybe. Sometimes. She continued on in her own head, gloved hands held outstretched for the moment as a sign of 'peace'.
"Yes i know. There's a youma in there." He rolled his eyes. Couldn't she -feel- him? He'd figured that one out pretty fast without anyone telling him but maybe some senshi didn't get that memo so well. Though now the youma knew he knew where he was and that wasn't going to be pleasant as soon as it did finally get mad at him. "Tricky one too..." He grumbled not sure she'd actually hear him saying that.
He started moving toward the end of the row hoping he could find the other senshi when there was a crash and the junk pile shifted, bits falling off, as the youma tore it's way free. "oh jesus ... a -crab-" he groaned as he ducked out of the way of a swinging claw. The youma had shoved itself into a car body and seeemd to be useing it as armor.
For Sailor Thisbe it took a bit more focus than she usually put into things, save when immersing herself in one of her favorite yoga positions. She was far too used to leaping without thought and it seemed to carry on into her ability to 'sense' the other powers... Having spoken with Themis, she'd supposed that was at least one of the good things about their phones, but...
She whipped hers out quickly and was just about to see which of the different signals showed up on her screen to figure out exactly what she was dealing with when the nearby car began to move. Her eyes went wide as her mind reeled from just how cool it was to see things like that in action... To thinking that she might want to duck or dodge or roll or get the <******** out of the way.
"s**t." Thisbe squeaked in an extremely girlish way, leaping up and back onto one of the nearby piles. This particular youma was a lot bigger than the last one she'd had the misfortune of dealing with. "I... Don't know how well my power works against youma." Her brow furrowed as she called out to the other senshi. "I can distract it, though." If she wasn't too busy distracting the other senshi, at least, with her short, tattered skirt and the bit of an upshot she was offering from the height she was now at.
He vaulted up onto another pile as the crab-youma took another swipe at his position and rattled it's way completely free of the junk pile. He landed with another clang on top of a school bus and looked down at the other senshi. It so had to be his lucky week. So many cute girls in really short skirts. Someone up there liked him and he hoped he could make sure they stayed liking him. "Mine work fine against them ... though i'm not so sure it will do much good through all that metal. You don't happen to have a saw tucked in that uniform do you?" He grinned as he shifted his grip on the pole he'd picked up.
He probably would have continued the conversation, probably about her pretty legs, if the youma hadn't turned on him and swing one of it's extra legs in his direction. "Okay, chatting later ... s**t." He caught the claw with the pole but the force behind the youma's swing knocked him from his perch and he just managed to roll enough to land on his side where it wouldn't hurt too much. "....ow."
Pulling himself up he shook his hair out of his face and grinned. "Okay ugly. It's on now."
"Saw? No, sorry. That's one of those magical girl tricks I haven't managed to quite figure out yet." She snorted, eyes narrowing while lips pursed as she surveyed the scene. Think. Think. Think.
"Alright, pretty boy. I hope you move faster when it comes to defending someone else than you do when it comes to defending yourself." She muttered as she took a leap down from her perch, landing on the youma's back briefly before aiming a swift kick at its head to catch its attention. Thisbe didn't stay in that one place for long, though. She was bounding off again, hoping that the beast would follow her... And, more importantly, that she'd be able to keep that one extra step ahead of it. "C'mooon..."
Points to the other senshi for actually knowing what she was doing. This seemed was a first for him. So far the only one he'd met that knew how to fight had been a knight. It would be nice to get to work with someone who knew what they were doing. "Oh yes darling. I can keep up." He grinned as he watched her lead the youma off.
As she lead it through the junk yard he grinned brightly and took off down another aisle. Hopping up on top of the piles he spotted what he was looking for. One of the larger piles looked loose and there was a bar sticking out of it. If he was lucky he could use it like a lever and knock the whole pile over. He just had to time it right and hope that the other senshi would lead the creature back in the right direction. It would be so much better if they could communicate without talking.
"Take a left!" He really hoped she followed his direction. He needed her to bring the youma back around so he could drop the pile of metal onto it. They weren't going to be able to take it while it was still encased in the car body and things were always easier if they couldn't move.
Unlike other senshi, she supposed, Thisbe played video games and she was a quick thinker. She knew that, sometimes, when it came to defeating a boss monster it was best to have a decoy in the party and, sadly, that decoy often had to be the person who was of least use in the current situation. She might not know much about the nature of her powers, but it was going to be more of a risk to try and figure out whether or not they worked against beastial creatures than it would be to just let the other senshi, whoever the hell he was, do his thing.
"Left?" She called back, brow quirking as she glanced in that general direction, trying to figure out just what it was that he was planning, debating quickly on whether or not she liked the odds when she knew that the giant crane with the magnet was up ahead... Maybe whatever he had in mind would give them time to see whether or not the keys had been left in the ignition.
"Left." The girl nodded quickly, confirming his decision while turning quickly on her toes, leaping up onto the nearest pile to put a bit more distance between herself and the charging youma.
As the senshi and the youma came back toward him he jumped down off his perch and landed on the bar he was hoping would turn into a rather useful lever. The pile groaned and creeked and he scrambled to try to keep himself upright as everything started to tilt. He manged to catch one heel on the edge of the chunk of metal and flailing slightly balanced on the end as with a great groan the pile crashed over with a thunder of metal on metal.
The youma screeched as the pile crashed down around it and for a moment was lost in the mess. Arachne took the opportunity to get himself unattached from his perch and lept over towrad the other senshi. "So ... in case that didn't work have any other ideas?" He raised a brow as he looked at her. The pile was still making noise as it shifted and settled but so far he couldn't tell if the monster was actually caught or just biding it'st ime again.
Her fingers were curled into fists at the moment, knuckles on her sides as she watched the wreckage shift and groan. It wasn't over. There was no way it was over that easily. No freaking way.
Sailor Thisbe's head cocked to the side as the other senshi landed beside her, brow quirking just a bit beneath her hood. "You mean other than run?" The smirk could be heard clearly in her voice. "The magnet crane over there. If the keys were left in it we might just be able to use it to hold the damn thing still... Or if you've got any experience with playing the claw games at the arcade we might very well be able to drop it into the compactor. I'm not very good at them..."
"Running away is never the answer when youma are involved. They're too fun to dust." He grinned before looking where she'd pointed. The crane wasn't a bad idea but the odds that the keys were in it? not god. "Could try. Wasn't bad with the claw machines but it's not like trying to pick up a teddy bear or something. The stupid thing's wearing a car."So odds were that they could just swing the crane towards it and they'd catch something.
He jumped carefully down from their perch toward the crane as the pile that he'd dropped on the youma creaked. "Think you can keep it there while i look for keys?" He stopped in the door of the crane's cabin before ducking inside to see.
There weren't keys but apparently no one used them anyway. The ignition had a screw driver jammed into it which appeared to be how they started it. Laughing he wiggled the screw driver and grinned brighter as he heard the engine catch.
"Keep it here? Oh, yeah, sure." She snorted softly, shaking her head slowly as she bounded back down to ground level, watching as the pile shifted and groaned again. Any minute now... Any minute...
Thisbe's heart was pounding in her chest as she shifted on the balls of her feet, debating on whether or not this was absolutely terrifying or simply a complete rush. She had settled on the latter as her final answer when the youma broke free sending scraps of metal flying in every which direction, several heading straight for her. "s**t." The curse fell far too easily from her lips as she made an attempt to scramble back, her bound turning into a bit of a limp as one of the pieces caught her in the calf.
"Any time now, you!"
He poked at a few levers and watched as the crane swung around. He had no idea how these things were suppose to work and despite the girls yelling he couldn't really go any faster. It was a rush though doing something like this. The youma seemed a more worse for the ware now but it was still going and was a lot more pissed off now that it had had a mountain of junk dropped on it. "Working on it!" He yelled back as he jammed a few more levers until the crane arm swung around toward the youma.
Kicking one of the lower levers he heard an odd sound and hoped that meant that the magnet had kicked on. Yanking back on one of the levers he'd pulled eariler the crane's arm lowered and the magnet clanked down against the youma's stolen shell. Keeping his hand on the lever that seemed to control the height of the magnet he leaned out of the crane's cabin. "Careful .. i think it's on."
He hauled the lever back again and watched as the youma's armor came with it dragging the creature in the air. "Yes!"
Sailor Thisbe collapsed down against the car that she'd nearly been thrown into by the force of the scrap that had caught her leg, wincing slightly as she glanced down at what was already starting to become an ugly bruse; lucky that the shard had caught her on the blunt side, not the sharp. "Ouch..." She reached down, rubbing her leg gently before glancing up, a smirk taking over her scowl as she watched the creature try to scuttle in the air.
"... Looks like now all we need to do is figure out what the hell to do with the thing."
"You know it's almost tempting to leave it up there for someone to find in the morning." He laughed and called up his phone so he could take a picture of it. The image of the youma scrabbling at the air while it was stuck was just too priceless to let go. He'd never caught one of the bastards in such an amusing way. "The crane was a good idea. I think i can get it with my magic like this. It can't really duck and there's no glass in the car."
He looked down and noticed the bruise forming on her leg. "Stay there. I'll help you up once i dust it." He turned to craw up higher onto the junk where he could get better aim at the youma. "Arachne's Venom!" He let his power build until it was in danger of hurting him before throwing the ball of acid through the windshield of the car. It smacked into the chest plate of the crab-creature which gave a last shriek before dissolving into a shower of dust.
Shaking his head he climbed back down and held a hand out to the Senshi. "Arachne, now that we have the time for introductions."
She looked at his hand for a moment before slipping her hand into his, letting him pull her up to her feet. It wasn't all that hard given her petite stature, really, if tugged too hard she was even likely to just go flying... A good thing, really, that he seemed to be acting the role of the gentleman about it.
"Thisbe." She nodded in a polite, courteous manner before grinning, glancing up at where the head of the crane was still swaynig slowly from where the weight of the youma had disappeared, leaving just the car. "That was one wicked orb of acid there. Do you know any tricks for energy substitution or am I talking a completely different game here?" Her brow lofted, teasing smirk curving her lips.
He stared at her for a moment before laughing. "Despite my friends attempts to lure me to that side i haven't gotten into any of those games. sorry. It's just acid and seems to work well against most things." He'd only ran into one creature so far that had been immune to it and that was only because it spit acid too. "You're good. Haven't run into any other senshi who've actually known how to keep the youma occupied properly. We should do this more often." He grinned.
The rest of the night would be off though. "But, not today. You should probably go put ice on that before you end up with a knot on your leg too. I can help you get back somewhere safe." With his phone still out he scanned the other senshi so she would come up in his contacts. "Woe ... sounds fun."
"Completely undress me, why don't you." The smirk that curved her lips didn't quite reach her eyes, making them seem just a bit darker than usual from beneath the shadow of her hood as she tilted her head up to gaze at the other senshi. "Don't rely too much on your technology there. If seeing is believing, I doubt I'm fun at all."
Cryptic. Oh so cryptic when it came to her sphere, likely its own fault as she still hadn't quite figured it out herself yet...
"I think I can make it where I need to be on my own. Not too sure I'm ready to bring work home with me just yet... Although Themis did say it wouldn't be too bad of an idea to find a like-minded sucker or two to pal around with." Not in those words, no. Those words had been her own, but the sound of a 'team' still fit the meaning to her. "Another night, maybe."
"Not on the first date." He grinned as he stepped back so he wasn't so much in her personal space anymore. "Unless you ask -really- nicely. Then i might be willing to change my rules."
He hopped back up onto the top of an old van. "If you're alright then another night. We work well together. Look me up if you want to test out those powers of yours."
Grabbing the edge of his coat he flourished a bow before disappearing off through the junk yard.
