Jarosite stood on the roof of the bar has he'd been told to, head bobbing slightly as his left foot kept time on the floor. He'd found out not twenty minutes prior, that he could attach an MP3 player to his headphones, put it in a pocket on the inside of the jacket, and listen to music while powered up. Nifty he'd said when he figured out. Now he realized he was going to have to buy a separate player to keep with his powered outfit... if it worked that way. He was going to have to ask Painite when she arrived.
Until then, he mouthed the words to Beatles songs. He juggled his picks in his hand, looking at the sky.
".... Lucy in the sky with diamonds..." he murmured softly. He brought his attention back to the evening. Painite would tell him what he needed to know. He pulled the MP3 player out to check the time. He hoped it didn't take long; he hadn't exactly told his parents he'd be out tonight, and had snuck out the window.
The sooner he was in bed, the less troubled he'd be in.

Painite appeared on the roof of the bar in what she considered grand style. Teleporting was so flashy, and since it didn't drain her as much as it had when she was a Captain, she made much more use of it for big displays. She liked the idea of her aura suddenly appearing out of no where to anyone powered up, and for civilians...
Well, it was always funny to watch them flip out at someone appearing out of no where.
Of course, she found her newest Lieutenant with ear buds in. She arched an eyebrow and moved toward him, knowing he knew she was there. Plucking the headphones from his head, she gave him a look. She seemed amused, but if this were a normal job he never would have gotten away with listening to music at the same time.
"Enjoying some music, are we?"

Jarosite was aware of his General's presence the minute her aura popped into existence behind him. He glanced up as she pulled his headphones off and have her a bit of a grin. He slipped a hand into his coat and turned the player off, settling his headphones around his neck.
"S'part of my life, General Painite. I am a bass player after all," he said to her. He gave her a small sort of a salute.
"So, what will I be learning about tonight? And how did you get here so fast?" Hey, he could ask questions. He was new after all.

Painite nodded her head at him. As long as he was capable of doing his quota, she didn't really care how he chose to do it. Having a theme track playing in the background while draining energy or fighting senshi would probably make it feel much more awesome, in fact.
Now she wanted to bring a music player...
"I teleported here," she said with a chuckle, "you'll learn how to do it once you've been promoted. It's very convenient, though it can be tiring. Not for me, of course, as I'm a master at it." That was a bit of a stretch, but she couldn't help but show off a bit.
"In any case, tonight we'll start with the basics. Strength, weapon and agility tests. Draining energy. Civilian catching and clean up. We will be leaping right into the middle of it, as it were. And if we find a senshi or a knight, so much the better: we'll have a very good night of training ahead of us." She laughed.

He nodded, juggling his picks in his hand. He would do anything she asked of him, provided she explained it to him before doing so. Draining energy seemed nefarious, but not as nefarious than the terrorists endangering the humans... humans, with their powers. Jarosite made sure the music was off, and looked out on the city.
"Where are we starting, General? And with what?" Might as well get straight to the point so they had as much time to practice as possible. Jarosite was finding he had a sort of patience, but only if things were said plainly; he'd barked at his sister for beating around the bush earlier about something she'd done at school. Whether it was an effect of joining the order, or a lack of sleep, he wasn't sure, but it quietly was flaring now.
He was nothing if not diligent and loyal, however, and would listen to Painite regardless of what would happen. Or how long it took. He did have one pressing issue to ask.
"The black monsters. Are they pets of the senshi, us, or just wild things drawn here?" If it was the senshi, then it was their fault for them running rampant. If it was the Negaverse's, he could understand that. If they were wild, they'd die along with the senshi, he decided. He needed to be sure though, what side they were on before kicking them.

Painite arched an eyebrow.
"Black monsters? Do you mean youma?" She wasn't sure she was following his question, as she had never heard the reference before. She did motion for him to follow her, though, bouncing from this roof over to the next and making it look effortless. Even for a small lady, she could leap quite far. Of course, being in the Negaverse and a General to boot probably had something to do with that.
She waited for him to land before she spoke again, moving as she did so to jump to the next roof. She seemed to be only half paying attention, but that was just a show. He had her full attention.
"Youma are monsters created from chaos," she simplified. "Did you know I could have turned you into one, if I had put too much of our chaotic energy into your starseed? So. Sleep well, knowing that one. But I didn't, so you're fine." She grinned at him teasingly.
"We'll go to the park, see if we can't find a late night jogger for you to target. I want to see your hunting skills. Filling quota is one of the most important parts of being in the Negaverse, after all, so we might as well start at the beginning. I'll show you how to drain energy, and what to do with it when you have it. You can ask all the questions you'd like, about whatever pops into your mind, though."

"Oh, so they're called youma. I was attacked by one once..." Jarosite said, following her with difficulty. The whole jumping buildings thing was a lot harder for the gankly tall teen. He was able to actually land on the roof, though his knees were going to feel it in the morning. He stood up, brushing his coat off with his hands.
The fact she could have turned him into one of the youma wasn't very nice to hear. He nodded, chuckling weakly. He turned his attention to the rest of her words.
"Hunting skills... so we're to hunt humans? The same things we started out as? Are we killing them or... just taking only some energy?" he asked her, doing the best to keep up with his General.

"Youma," Painite confirmed with a nod of her head.
She knew she wasn't being too fair with their path, as what was easy for her was obviously going to be a lot more difficult for the Lieutenant. And this was made more clear when she landed on a very low roof and then vanished, appearing at the top of a much taller one next door and looking down over the edge.
Fully expecting him to find his way up to her.
This was a skill they all had to master quickly: getting around as fast as they could, and under any circumstance. Escape or attack were dependent on the surroundings sometimes and they had to have a mastery very early for it. She watched him passively, smiling.
"We're just taking energy," she called, continuing his conversation as if there weren't a few floors distance between them. There was no one else around, conveniently. "But that doesn't stop some from killing them. It's up to you, what you want to do to them. Our fight isn't with the humans."

He almost wanted to say, "General, I've been at this a day, barely. Slooow doown..." But he didn't. He glanced around and found part of a broken fire escape to climb. He took a few steps back then charged forward, leaping into the air. He almost missed the ladder. Jarosite caught it with a thud and he waited until his body stopped swinging. With a grunt he climbed up the ladder to the roof, listening to Painite.
"I think... if I kill them, people I don't know, it will be like I'm heartless enough to kill my own parents for energy. I'll take enough to knock 'em out, not kill them... even if that makes my work harder on me," he told her resolutely, panting softly from his climb. If he started killing humans willy-nilly, what was going to stop him from killing his parents, his sister? Or his band mates? He'd been a human once, still was if you ignored the chaos running through him.
He was going to protect them, not matter what.
"So, how do we collect energy?"

Painite nodded her head, listening to him.
"I understand where you're coming from. It's not easy, this job, and you do have to learn to deal with the fact that you will hurt people you know, you will even hurt people you care about. It's just a part of this life. But you have control enough to choose to not kill civilians if you want to."
Her own views were changing. She did not like to kill wantonly, but she had come to realize that putting terror into senshi often involved the lives of civilians around them. But she supposed she was only stepping up her game. She always told herself she would only kill if her plans required it, and leave the others to live their lives until someone else killed them.
That was still true.
"It's simple. Find your target, make sure there are no witnesses you don't account for dealing with, and get your target under your touch. Once you touch them, you can focus on their energy and draw it out of them and into your hand. Form it into a ball and bam. You'll known when you're tapping them out of it. Try to stop before the stream your pulling from them thins out too much, as it were."

That seemed entirely too easy and simple. He wondered why half the city wasn't passed out. And then he remembered the senshi. Oh right, those things. He nodded at Painite.
"Where does this ball of energy then go? Do I just shove it in my pockets? Where exactly do my clothes go, too? Like the pajama bottoms I was wearing earlier?" he asked her, quite confused on that part of the whole equation. He didn't destroy them or anything, they just... morphed, disappeared, or something. He wasn't sure, so hence the asking.

"Just keep it safe until you can give it to me. The energy, anyway. Your clothes and your weapons, when you don't have them in hand, are in... well. Let's call it a pocket. In subspace. They're fine, and you'll obviously have them back when you power down. You can pull your weapon from the subspace at any time, and, which is useful in combat, send them there, too. I love seeing the look on Senshi's faces when there is a weapon coming at them, or they're holding on to it or defending against it, and then it's suddenly not there."
She laughed at the memories, shaking her head. It was fun, playing with them whenever she could.
They stopped at an alley and she spotted someone bent over a trashcan, presumably admiring the art therein. Or, more likely, losing the contents of their stomach to it after a hard night of drinking or partying. Or maybe it was just a homeless person digging around. Whatever the case, the location made them an easy target.
"Alright, how about you go down there and drain that sap?"

Jarosite looked at her for a moment before he looked down at the alleyway. Silver eyes watched the person for a moment. His coat made a small snapping noise as he went over the side. He landed with more sound that was necessary, but the drunken person didn't seem to notice too much. They paused, Jarosite freezing in place at the same time, and then continued what they were doing. He let out a silent sigh and crept up behind them.
He grabbed the back of the person's neck, drawing on their energy. Or tried to. The guy took a rather wide aim at Jarosite with his arm, but it was enough to divert his concentration. He grabbed that arm with his other hand and went back to tapping into his energy.
Once the man stopped struggling (he was probably too drunk to understand what was going on), Jarosite took as much as it took to knock him out. The glob of energy rolled in one of his palms as he let the poor man unceremoniously fall into the trash. Hey at least it wasn't water or bricks. Jarosite watched the energy glob wiggle and poked it a few times.
He made his way back to the roof and held out the glob for Painite. "I did it." Jarosite inwardly smacked his face with his hand. He sounded like he was a toddler going to the bathroom all by himself for the first time. Very lame, very lame.

Painite watched with sharp eyes as he leaped down to the target below. She leaned forward, keeping her eye on him. It wasn't that she thought he was going to be in trouble if she wasn't watching, but rather she wanted to take note of everything he did. Even though he was new to this, there was a lot to learn in the decisions he made, in his thought process and natural movements.
So she watched him, taking stock of everything.
When he returned to her she was smirking thoughtfully, apparently having come to a decision about him. She didn't share her thoughts, however, moving to put one of her hands under his and the other over the ball of energy.
"Don't forget to control it," she said, her energy moving through is and into the mass of glowing blue he had collected. It wobbled and condensed itself into a neat little ball, like it had been rolled in a palm. She nodded at it.
"That was very good. You surprised him, but still got his energy without much of a fight. Leaving him in the dumpster is just fine, he was drunk and it'll be easy for him to assume that he just stumbled into it in his stupor and then, fully embarrassed, wander home. One of the most important aspects of all this, after the energy itself, is making sure you clean up afterward. Or at least think about the consequences. Leaving a message is just fine, so long as you've decided that's what you want to do."
She smiled proudly, moving her hand to pat him on the shoulder and donning her best Old British Man form.
"I think you're going to do just fine at this, my boy."

Jarosite grinned at Painite and nodded. "Thank you, ma'am. I hope to do the Negaverse a good job." He watched the energy in his hand and poked at it. He chuckled a little. It was kinda like puddy but not so much like puddy. Controlling it, he could do that, no problem.
He wasn't into leaving messages, simply working quickly and cleanly.
He could do this.
He could totally do this.
Even if it did feel a little... odd to be doing. Honestly.
But it was to protect them, so that's what mattered, right?
Of course it was.
