For some, it happened in the blink of an eye. One moment you were standing at the sink, holding a glass of water -- the next, the glass was smashing to pieces on the floor. For others, it happened slowly, like drifting off to sleep. There would be a conversation, an excuse to leave, and then the sensation of falling. Still others let their minds wander only to find themselves struck by a sudden flash of vertigo. A hand might touch a temple, a seat might be taken -- and then, gone. Gone, all of them gone. There was only one thing that remained consistent across all accounts. Each and every civilian of Destiny City who disappeared on the night of September 3rd found themselves short of breath. A buzzing filled each head, a pinch in the pit of each stomach. And then their hearts began to beat -- boom-boom, boom-boom. At first, it was a subtle rising adrenaline, and then it was as if the hearts of these individual civilians began to flutter wildly in their chests. The last thing any of them would remember was the feeling of those hearts beating out of control, a lurching need. But the question remained... for what? In a matter of moments, they were all gone. Gone, disappeared without a trace. Fifty-one missing persons and not one lead. Just another day in Destiny City. [ Our metaplot civilians have been sucked out of their places in Destiny City! It had been six weeks since the day when the civilians disappeared. Their loved ones had no doubt reported them missing, cried their eyes out, assumed the worst. After one week, they might have held on to hope, but... six weeks? It was a long time to believe that nothing was wrong. At the Surrounding every civilian died. They gave up their lives to protect a piece of the universe that they descended from -- even if they had no idea. The civilizations of the Zodiacs were at one time rich and vibrant, and the echoes of those souls who had lived and died eons ago still swam in the blood of their progeny. Unfortunately, those progeny had died too, all in the name of protecting the universe. Then, a quiet voice, a whispered word: No. In one word, death reversed itself. The bodies that had been destroyed at the Surrounding mended themselves, golden threads surging into bones and muscles and tendons and skin. Before those dead civilians could even be aware of it, they were reborn. They reappeared suddenly in the exact place that they had disappeared from six weeks ago. All of them. And they remembered everything.

Congratulations, civilians!
You have been MIA for six weeks. Your old school expelled you, assuming the worst. But have no fear! There is a new school in Destiny City that is sympathetic to the strange phenomenon that had over fifty civilians kidnapped on the exact same day. It is clear that serious drugs were used to keep you down -- the crazy things you claim to have seen! Still, officials are stumped and can find no other explanation.
Horizon Institute is a new school that has agreed to take in all you school-aged folks. It is a very shiny place to learn -- double congratulations!
