I'm planning a ritual for next weekend (I'll be alone in the house) where I'm going to officially dedicate myself to my Goddess, Freya. I've been studying Norse Paganism for well over a year now and it suddenly felt to me that it's time to do things in a formal way.
I've asked my sister and a few close friends to be present. There'll be wine, honeycakes, and a special ritual meal that I'll prepare myself.
I'm a little...well, more than a little nervous, especially because after the ritual I plan to style myself as a "priestess" of Freya, rather than just a devotee or worshiper.
Most of the ceremony will be around my friends and family, sharing food and drink and celebrating, but I plan to do a deep meditation that night, and see if this is really what I'm meant to be.
I'vee been through two deep spiritual experiences so far, through meditation and prayer, but both times it has shaken me to my core. I'll never forget what I felt and saw, never forget what I experienced while in that state.
I guess what I'm looking for is just support and reassurance. I know what I'm doing is what I'm meant to do...but I'm still utterly terrified. I've been praying for courage and guidance, but I also want the opinions of people here.
Has anyone gone through anything at all similar?

I have not, I still feel a little pull towards Nyx, but I haven't felt any calling by a deity just yet, I know a bit about Mythologies from Greece and Norway, but thats about it, I think I should start doing more studying, though I have felt a pull towards runes, but yet it was Nyx's mention in a book that brought me to Paganism, so I am still a little confused about where I am supposed to go. The of course their is my native heritage that has been calling me back recently. But anyway, if this is what you feel you are meant to do, if you feel its right, then you should trust your feelings and the one you are dedicated to and follow through.

Nerdanel_Caitlin bearcatthorin Good luck I wish you all the best. Thank you, my friend. :3 The only advice I would offer is 1. Invite only those who are close supportive, those you would accept as kith and kin and 2. Norse like to do such rituals outside, perhaps a back yard or a quiet place in a public forest or park.

There's a public park just around the corner from my house that has a lovely, reasonably well-hidden oak grove behind a hill--the bulk of the ceremony will take place there, though the meal will be back at my house. Only my sister and a few very close friends (who I view as sisters and brothers) will be in attendance. Just five people, nothing too elaborate. To anyone who happens to see us, we'll just be a bunch of picnickers.
