The woods were dark that night with the lack of the moon casting the earth in a hellish shadow. This seemed not to deter the simple mind of the dark beauty as she made her way a little more slowly through the depths of the wooden grove, making sure her hooves connected with the soft soil of spring. Only the sounds of a few nocturnal animals filtered through to her senses, an owl overhead, scurrying possums....nothing major.
Weeks it had been since she'd seen her family, and it was for the best she thought with resolve. No longer was she going to be a danger for any of her loved ones, a burden to her father...that close call had given the otherwise clueless mare a jolt of the reality she and all the other soquili faced on a day to day basis. One had to be mentally sound to make it out here, or there would be dire consequences. She just couldn't do it, as much as she hated to be on her own and missed her few friends and close nit family something fierce, once the little mare had her mind set on something it was hard to focus on anything but.
Caution thrown to the wind as she didn't have many life skills in her young age, she found a small grove of fireflies near a stream...which was perfect since she was rather parched from her long, almost aimless journey to gain clarity. Scaling down the small slope to the sandy shores of the stream; she tilted her head down with a clueless grace as some of her long locks fell over her eyes. Drinking up the cool liquids she felt relieved, although it had been a hard journey to say the least, she felt as if she was getting somewhere...or at least in the direction which would take her to her goals.
"Sapphire won't give up, nope nope nope!" She sing-spoke softly between her drinks, filling up as much as she could.

"Sapphire won't give up, nope nope nope!" A pair of ears began to swivel about, searching for the direction in which that unfamiliar voice had came from. Though, it wouldn't exactly matter if it had been familiar or not. It wasn't as though Darian held many friends on his roster. Maybe it was best for the poor soul that Dare couldn't decipher who it was. After all he had more people on his hit list than his buddy list. It seemed others didn't take to kindly to his cruel, selfish ways, though Darian didn't take kindly to others judgmental tendencies either.
Once the unpleasantly confident voice had been pin pointed the large Kalona Kirin made his way towards it. Just a peek. That's all he promised himself. Unless, of course, this particular voice belonged to a submissive little victim he could play with. Then it was all fair game to the carnivorous stallion. For being his size he was surprisingly light on his hooves, making sure to skillfully avoid twigs and dry leafs. Silence was vital when sneaking up on prey, and Darian had a lot of practice in this.
His tracking had lead him to a calm little river bed, lined with sandy shores and rocks. Drinking from these clear, refreshing waters was a dark mare, highlighted with blue hues, much more subtle than his own. The Kalona mix did his best to conceal himself till the last moment, holding his wings tightly against his sides and his tail tucked around his body so as not to bump anything. He tip toed casually down towards the girl until he was standing behind her, haunting her like a ghost. "Well, aren't you an interesting breed," he looked her over, now stepping to her side. "Those eyes, those spikes, and those dainty little fragile wings you have there... such unique blood you must have..." he allowed his tongue to slip over his sharp teeth, licking to show his hunger for her.

Lacking any formal training in the means of awareness in one's surroundings, to say she was a sitting duck for unfortunate situations was only speaking the truth. She supposed she never thought of it as mother and father and her brothers were always around, always watching and keeping her from danger...not that anyone aside from a skinwalker would be stupid enough to take on a battle mutated Angeni with a vengeful mannered mother and a kalona mutant father always at her side. Although she inherited the same traits as her mother in terms of her wings and tail, she didn't have the darkness in her soul to ever use them properly; although her spikes did get snagged in bushes all the time when she traveled.
Being on her own though...this was a whole new kind of trouble.
Lifting her head and looking beside her, well, looking up as the large male had suddenly appeared at her side she realized she was barely able to hit the chin of the male with even the tips of her ears. Although her family was about his size, she was even more premature than her brothers in their birth and never really gained the appropriate girth and build of her family. "Sapphire is Sapphire, not Unique!" She chirped out, a bright smile crossing her lip as she didn't understand the context of his words. She wasn't unique, she looked just like her father with all the traits of her mother; so she wasn't one of a kind in her eyes.
"Besides, Mister is blue just like Sapphire, same same!" The mare sing-sang, her tail swaying lightly to show her ease of the situation. "Sapphire's tail doesn't drip blood like Mama's....but looks like all other bloods of animals just like Sapphire. Does mister have it? Maybe blue like you?" Oh wouldn't that be something, to have such a strange colour of blood!" Chiming in laugher she turned to face the large stallion, distant but curious eyes observing him. "Are you thirsty too? There is lots of stream for friends!"
