So what do you think? Which is better, the FMA manga or the anime?
As soon as I watched the first few episodes, I got online and read all the manga that was out. It's a lot different from the anime. For one thing, the anime ordering was all messed up and whatnot and I got confused sweatdrop
But anyway, I kind of like the manga better. Personally, I think it's a lot more amusing....but that doesn't mean that I don't love the anime. (It's awesome!) But what are your thoughts?

there are sooooo many differences... there are things i prefer about the anime, but overall i like the manga much better. i preferred anime lust to manga lust (for reasons of manga chapter 38!! crying ), and i love seeing manga in motion, just in general... i like finding discrepancies between the two...but in hagaren there were so many that it's a little frustrating. i liked how in the anime [spoiler, hilight to read]
roy was the one who killed the drs. rockbell, and he was very haunted by that...it showed a very vulnerable sort of fragility about him that we hadn't seen before... whereas in the manga scar was to blame and roy seems much more...ah...at peace with the dark things he has done in his past. plus, somehow, hughes's death seemed much more poingant to me in the anime... perhaps because of the fact that there were voices attached to the sad faces this time... u__u
but mainly, i prefer the manga. i like how we see much more of roiroi's silly side (he's a total spaz, it's hilarious), i like how much deeper we go into stories, and i love ling! ling didn't even make it into the anime! what a loss! he's so fun!!!! and the later chapters...oh, GOD i would have LOVED to see chapters 37+ animated, that would have kicked a**...

both. I love them equally. Yes, the manga's story is a bit different and I think, is a tinsy bit more in depth, but you cant get over the fact that its fun to listen to the characters talk, sense their emothions. 3nodding
Envy has two personalities tho... manga/anime.... kinda gets confusing....

Do you think I should go ahead and read the manga now? Anyone know how long it is?

Anyone know how long it is? I would definitely read the manga. There's a lot in the manga that isn't in the anime, and vice versa. I'm not sure how many chapters total, but there are at least 43 online that I've read. Here are some fan sub sites. http://www.readmanga.com/index.phphttp://www.anime-source.com/banzai/modules.php?name=Content&pa=list_pages_categories&cid=20The first is my favorite, but it only has about 40 chapters. The other goes through chapter 43. I haven't seen all the anime, but I'm dying to get my hands on some. Hmm, I think I just found a weekend project...

You get one free download a day when you join the forum. That's how I got all of the episodes myself.

The manga and anime both have their strong points and weak ones. The anime showed more charecter development and the manga showed more of the world of FMA than just Ed and AL. I've watched the 51 eps but the ending was a surprise to me sweatdrop . To get subbed FMA try bittorent. It takes 3 days but its depends on your connection.

I just watched the last episode with my friend last night (yes I know, I shouldn't skip around) and it was depressing, but yet hopeful. Really makes me want to see how the manga ends...

The manga's not finished yet, Gilraen... but I agree, I can't wait to see how it ends. The anime is such a cop-out in comparison... they put so much more thought into the characters, went into a lot more depth with the storyline... not to mention all the differences with the Homunculus!! [Spoiler:I mean, we haven't even met Pride yet in the manga, and they allude to it being Hohenheim, of all people... ((freaking Mr. Twinkie!! ::stabs:: )) and the Fuhrer is Wrath, not some random annoying crybaby of a kid...

I've been reading a fansub (since sadly I know zero Japanese) The version I'm reading calls (spoiler) the Fuhrer pride but then in one chapter called him Wrath, which really confused me...I think I'm still confused...I've only read up to chapter 43 (which is all that's out on this site) and sometimes I get a little lost jumping back and forth between the anime and manga. Oh well....

Personally, i prefer the manga, though the anime is not without its charms. ^^ I love the music and the animation is awesome. But, i feel the manga presents the story, the characters, and the over all flow much better than the anime.
