Magical
_____ Faeries were born of the Guardians. Faeries were born of magic. Most of all Faeries were born of the life and energy that a story takes on after it is retold through the generations.

In the years following the Great War, the whereabouts of the Book of Transcendence were unknown save a few salvaged pages. One of the pages recovered by the Guardians contained half of the instructions to create new life. They had all the necessary ingredients, but lacked the spark necessary to make their creations anything more than living puppets.

In their attempt to create an army to ward off the prophecy of impending doom, the Guardians toiled at making their own Pae'il soldiers. Even combined their magicks did nothing to breathe essence into these beings.

In a last ditch effort, the Guardian Medea decided to mix in some Mellon essence as well as the life energy from a popular Pae'il fairy tale. From this, the first Faery emerged, its soul interwoven with the fable.

These faery folk were too fragile to be soldiers. The magic itself was so involved that it made the breed rare. Determined to utilize the Fae, the Guardians sent them to Telrunya to mediate between the then-warring Angel and Demon Factions. Their failure resulted in the Great Sundering, ushering in a dark time on Telrunya.

With the dawning of the Fifth Age, the Fae have once again become active citizens of the Isle.

Fae are magic Pae'il, but they share the same basic biological make-up as Angels and Demons. They are flesh, bone and blood, even similar to humans.

All Pae'il are magical and possess that magical energy required to utilize that magic. Pae'il have an energy source called Aika. Ai is the magic of The Light, and ka is the magic of the Dark. Elemental magic is a more raw version of that lifeforce energy. Fae tap into that energy source to use their magic and abilities. It is not unlimited, so a Fae must rest or find a way to replenish their energy before being able to cast another spell.

Spiritual
  • Pae'il have souls. Pae'il can be reincarnated, but not all are. The connection to their past self has to be discovered through long, arduous questing. No pae'il will know who they used to be without effort, although some may find certain things familiar, or certain triggers may unlock brief memories of the past.
  • Fae are connected to their stories. They were created to be neither particularly good or evil. In some Fae this can manifest itself as a zealous fervor in opinion and belief, in others a more bipolar nature. Fae tend to be more powerful than their Angel and Demon counterparts and can sometimes become arrogant of their elevated status.
  • When a Fae dies, his body will become a statue to be housed in the Hall of Lost Souls until fate causes the statue to crack, releasing the soul for reincarnation.

Biological
  • Fae are magic and can take on different characteristics and powers based on their story influence.
  • Fae have wings made of translucent membrane. Though they look fragile, the wings are strong and can carry the Pae'il in flight.
  • Since the resurgence of the Elemental Pae'il, Fae have been reportedly sporting antennae. If the Guardians know why this is happening, they are not talking.
  • Fae bleed red, like all Pae'il.
  • Fae can die. ((For RP purposes, you have to clear this with Antidia or Teigra first, otherwise your Pae is assumed to be in the limbo state in the Hall of Lost Souls.))
  • Fae, like all Pae'il, have lips, mouths, and noses. They are just not visible on the official cert art.
  • Fae are more physically fragile than the other breeds of Pae'il.
  • Fae offspring are not based on their own individual story, but in the spirit of good storytelling their stories are an intertwining of their parents' tales.

Hidden in the Loka Nei Jungle is a very big clearing. This meadow is considered holy ground for the Faerie Pae'il and fairies of the island. Every night at midnight, a somber melody can be heard as fairies gather to pray and sing their hymn to their fallen ancestors. Only the Faerie Pae'il, or those with Fae blood can hear this tune.

On the outskirts of the meadow, at due North and due South are two magical trees. Each tree is purple with silver bark and leaves. It appears to have a crystal appearance. These trees produce silver, vine-covered seed pods that will hatch into Flutters. These trees were planted long ago when Laisidhiel lost several acorns in a terrible storm. The potent magic of the Fae Clearing altered the acorns and they took root to give life to a Fae+Faun hybrid. These Flutters have the body of a Fauny, butterfly wings and the magic of a Faerie Pae'il. They are still connected to Laisidhiel in that they are her grandchildren, but they are their own type and can reside in their new home in the Fae Clearing. They identify more with Fae than Faun, but are welcome to join the Faun and entered the Tree.

:[ Ancient Faerie Palace Burried Ruins ]:
It was discovered in the summer of 2013 that there is a buried Faerie Palace in the center of the Fae Clearing. Many details are still undiscovered.

The Second Age

As Pae'il started getting unique powers and some ascending to become Elders, others grew jealous. Some were not happy about receiving what they deemed as inadequate powers and others grew angry because their neighbor became an Elder while they did not. The quarreling slowly escalated into an alignment war. Each alignment felt they were better than the other, and the favored alignment.

The Guardians did everything they could to try and end the quarreling. Their penultimate course of action was to send mediators; a Pae'il that is neither Angel nor Demon. But one did no exist, so The Guardians used their magic to create a Pae'il alignment that was neutral, and different. They used the Pae'il biological data, but combined it with the other local residents, the fairies, to create Faerie Pae'il. There was just one problem with these Pae'il: They did not have a soul to give them life. No matter what The Guardians did, they found that in their wisdom and power, they could not create life from nothing.

They discovered the key to giving these Faerie Pae'il a soul was to pull creative energy from the astral plane. Every Faerie that The Guardians created was granted a soul based on existing ideas, stories, myths, fables or folklore. An unexpected trait the Faeries picked up from having these unique souls was that they possed more power than an Angel or Demon. They took on abilities of their astral plane concept.

Now that The Guardians had created life, they sent the Faeries to mediate between the Angels and Demons and bring peace. To show them love, compassion and charity and how to forgo those toxic virtues that cause them to fight. The Faeries were unable to convince either alignment to come to a mutual agreement for peace.

The Guardians were outraged at the Faeries failure, and as punishment, any Faerie within the lands of Telrunya were compelled to go to the Fae Clearing (which at the time, was not called the Fae Clearing, but was merely an unnamed meadow) where they were destroyed. Due to the magical nature of a Faerie, when they died, their body released magic into the air. With so many Faeries dying in that small place, the area became saturated with magic energy. The land's little Avalon faires came to mourn the loss of Pae'il they considered kin. This mass killing field, which became the graveyard of all the Faerie Pae'il of Telrunya became a sacred place for the fairies which they return to every full moon to mourn, singing The Hymn of the Fae to remember their fallen kin.
NOTE: No living Faerie Pae'il will know this yet, however they all know the hymn and are the only Pae'il that can hear it on a full moon. They do not understand what it is for.

Due to the oversaturation of magic in the area, the natural biology of the soil and surrounding woods changed. Only grass would grow on the mound, and the surrounding trees have special qualities that none of the other trees in Telrunya posses. They grow in many twisted patterns, sideways and some produce crystal leaves or fruit. This crystal fruit is rare.

Angered that their brothers and sisters forced their hand to destroy a beloved creation, The Guardians sought to punish the Angels and Demons. They shook the ground, ripping it part. The pieces of land that once were Telrunya were scattered in great explosion that has become known as The Sundering, because The Guardians sundered the land, destroying nearly all living Angels and Demons.

They were merciful with the unhatched eggs. They were put on a small chunk of Telrunya that included enough of a sustainable ecosystem that they could survive and sent that piece of the land into the atmosphere. They were to hatch when the time was right, and all traces of the Angels and Demons evil deeds were gone.

This was the end of the Second Age.

Recently Uncovered History:

During a recent Summer outing, the fairies of Telrunya decided to help Pae'il try and uncover the tragic history of the most mysterious type of Pae'il. Details are still sketchy, but what had been found out is there was once a grand palace where Faerie royalty dwelled. There are summer and winter themes throughout the palace. The palace somehow was buried, presumably under the Fae Clearing. Blood Pae'il waged war on the Faeries.

Many artifacts and texts were recovered, but the Pae who recovered them have not sought out the proper academics to help learn what is contained on their treasures.

The Miracle of Life

_____Believed to have gone completely extinct before the Great Cataclysm, Faerie Pae'il re-emerged shortly following the first Angel and Demons emerging on modern-day Telrunya. Just like the Blood Pae'il, Faerie Pae'il started by hatching from eggs.

_____The Pae'il were evolving, now giving live-birth to produce offspring.

The original Faeries were brought to life by the Guardians. By harnessing ideas from the astral plane, they were able to breath life into this unique, magical type of Pae'il. In order to live and survive, a Faerie's soul is based on an existing idea, so they tend to take on characteristics and magical abilities related to their concept. But they are unaware of this. Faeries are just special Pae'il with a bit more magic.

Second generation Faerie Pae, born from a male and female, will be live-born and they inherit a Pae'il soul because they are born on Telrunya. They do not require an idea in order to live.

When a same-gendered couple wishes to expand their family, Iordanes will help the couple by changing the gender of one of them to allow for live-birth and blood related offspring. If this is too extreme, the couple may opt to adopt, but the offspring will not be blood related.

One Big Happy Family!

_____Sometimes, the heart wants what the heart wants.

Faeries may breed with each other, as well as any other race of Pae'il. The magic possessed by the Faeries is very special and unique and will influence whichever type they're mating with.

Discovered Faerie Pae Hybrids:
Angel + Fae = Wilwarin
Demon + Fae = Nymph
Fae + Faun = Earth Faerie (Flutter Fauny)
Fae + Naiad = Water Faerie (Sprite)

Undiscovered Faerie Pae Hybrids:
Fae + ??? = ???
Fae + ??? = ???
Fae + ??? = ???
Fae + ??? = ???

________________Sometimes things are not as they appear. Sometimes, there is more to the story than meets the eye.

Reports of recently discovered seed pods and pearls have started coming in and the Faun Chief and Naiad Queen are sending scouts to investigate.

:[ Flutters ]:
These are magical Faun. Laisidhiel lost many acorns several seasons ago during the island's worst hurricane on record. Many were not recovered and it was unknown their fate -- until recently. Due to the tragic event in the Fae Clearing thousands of years, it left the land full of potent residual magic. That is partially why the Fae consider it holy land. The potent magic provided the magic source necessary for the life-giving seeds of Laisidhiel to take root. The trees grew strong quickly, and started producing their own unique seeds.
There are two trees here; one on the southern end of the Fae Clearing called Harn Sheedhiel and the northern tree called Forn Sheedhiel.
  • They are faun influenced by magic, so they become fae-like
  • Faun + Faerie breeding will also result in offspring that resemble Flutters
  • There is a critical connection and reason why they resemble Faunies over regular Faun.
  • They have fabulous and silky hair
  • They have stained glass-like butterfly wings
  • They have silky, smooth fur
  • They have smooth hooves
  • They have thin antennae which are their connection to their Tree and life source.
  • They tend to be timid around strange Pae'il
  • They are very magical, so they get two powers (must be related) just like regular Faerie Pae'il. They do not need to be based on a concept, unlike Fae Pae.
  • They are slightly smaller than the average Pae'il, which makes them noticeably smaller than Faun. Not awkwardly small, just noticeable.
  • They connect to the flowers, and revere them.
  • When they become adults, they gain the ability to turn into a regular size butterfly. But this is a skill that is taught by other flutters, not instantly known.
  • Native Flutters have a coming-of-age ceremony for when they become Adults. This only applies to Flutters that live in and come from the two trees.

    Harn Sheedhiel and Forn Sheedhiel
    • Each tree has its own queen. This queen is their individual cultural leader.
      • The queens tend to argue and bicker with each other over turf.
      • They are independent from Rais; however they are both amiable towards Faun and Faunie leadership.
      • Rank-wise they are about the same as the Royal Court or Inner Circle, with Rais still above them able to lead them if he needs to.
    • The trees serve as home to the Flutters the same as Laisidhiel is home to the Faun. They are only smaller, and there is a significantly smaller population of Flutters than Faun.
    • The Earth and Water treaty extends to these two trees. Naiad can use them as respite during travel.

    Breeding
They are half Faerie and half Faun. First generations come from one of the two trees. Second generations can come from Fae+Faun couples, or two Flutters. A Fae+Faun couple only has a 50% chance at creating a Flutter baby. All other breeding rules apply.

:[ Sprites ]:
These are magical Naiad. Mysteriously, oysters appeared in Silme pond, and the magical waters provided the perfect environment for incubating Naiad pearls. Discovered by the demigod Portia, these Naiad have been immersed in a potent mix of magic and their natural element.
  • They are Naiad influenced by magic. (The magic source remains a mystery, but it is surmised to be Fairy-related.
  • Naiad + Faerie breeding will also result in offspring that resemble Sprites
  • The environment they grow up in will determine their final form
    • Sprites raised in water will keep their fishtail, and be unable to walk on land. They can however still use their Faerie wings to fly above water.
    • Sprites that are raised on land will grow like a tadpole: they'll slowly lose their tail as legs develop. They will not get their tail back upon entering water.
  • They have fine scales covering their bodies.
  • They have transparent fins and wings
  • Both types of Sprites are adept swimmers, however the ones with tails naturally swim faster.
  • They have thin, delicate Faerie wings
  • They all have gills so they can breathe underwater
  • They are resistant to pressure and temperature in the deep waters, like all Naiad
  • They cannot live in Silme pond. Once the Pearl is harvested, they must be taken to a different water source to hatch.
  • All babies and children require water to survive
  • Teens and Adults with legs do not need water to keep their legs wet, but the ones with tails do. They will dry out and die if not properly hydrated.
  • They get two powers (must be related) due to their Fae blood.
  • They get energy from Water due to their Naiad blood
  • They start out as a golf-ball sized pearl but grow to the size of a grapefruit when removed from the magical waters. Right before hatching, the blue-silver color of the pearl will change to show the colors of the Sprite inside.
    Breeding
They are half Faerie and half Naiad. First generation Sprites will all come from Silme pond. Second generation Sprites can come from Fae+Naiad pairs, or two Sprite parents. A Fae+Naiad couple only has a 50% chance of having a Sprite baby. All other breeding rules apply.
