This facility was boring if all you had to do all day was train and sleep. Cass knew - she'd tried it for the first couple of days until she'd discovered the library. It was a beautiful place, really, after so much boredom. There were like..books..with pictures. She'd found a DnD manual one day and flipped through it with a lot of questions as to why it was there looming over her head, but on the other hand, it was something she could do that Nicodemus wouldn't completely balk at her wasting her time on.
Research.
Though really she would have killed for a nice Dragonlance novel or something, all the monsterpedias had to do the trick in the meantime. It had been with a stack of books to flip through in her hands and in search of a place to sit down to look through them with that she'd found them. Arranged by age, in groups of similar creatures, all beautifully old and dated.
Probably mostly in black and white.
Movies.
Cass's squeal was probably heard across the library. In her head, Nicodemus shushed her for it, but she couldn't help it. It was exciting.

While the facility certainly lacked modern luxurious things like TV, videogames, and ESPN, it had a gym. So for a time, the moon hunter had taken a fixation to working out, getting back into the flow of things. But even he knw days of just hour long works outs were just that, hour long. So when he'd gone to the Library and pulled a few things from the shelves only to find historical classics all horror? Marcus's heavy sigh wrecked the silence of the place. Dracula and various spin-offs, same with Frankenstein Monster, In fact, Marcus was sure he saw a copy of twilight in one trainee's stack. Vampires alone had a whole book case. So did werewolves, (He made a disapproving face at the few romance books snuck in. Who in their right mind wanted to have a romance with one of those abominations? Dis however kept poking him in the direction of what he said was a really good book. Picking it up and reading the plot summary Gay vampire lover. Yup, That book was forever never going to be read by the moon hunter).
The library was in that silent hum of trainees studying, when Marcus heard it. The squeal. It was- DAT a**. Cassandra. The one girl he knew to make such a sound. Getting up and seeking her out, Marcus found her hidden away and could help it. Leaning onto the wall he put an effort into looking good. Adjust your package. Make it look bigger. Shut it.
"Hey Cass." Ask her if she has read any of the smut novels yet. "Have you read- what no. God damn it Dis." My favorite is the one where where the guy gets turned into a vampire while they-
Marcus tuned Dis out at and just looked at Cass. Face red.

For the record, Cass hadn't picked up the smut novels yet. However, she had picked up Twilight at one point in time and read about three chapters before putting it back with a horrified look on her face. But that had been a few days previous. She wouldn't have mentioned it to anybody. Ever.
She'd all but abandoned her stack of books in random smaller piles set on top of the cases of tapes and random DVDs that were mixed in, pulling out various installments and reading the backs of them for curious plot summaries. "Blob that eats everything...." she set it down on top of the pile and picked up another one, "Science mixes a man and a fly...?" she made a slight face at this, her brows furrowing together, but also set it on the top as well. At the rate she was going, she'd just steal all of the movies away to-
The attention put on the movies was almost immediately stolen away by the familiar voice of Marcus, looking up from the DVD she was holding - GODZILLA.
Cassandra Norris, NO <> Cassandra.
Nicodemus clearly wasn't getting through to Cass as she gave Marcus this curious look, as though trying to discern why his face was turning that shade of red, a light smile on her face.
"Hi Marcus!" She seemed to suddenly get very excited after that moment, picking up the two tapes she'd set down, setting Godzilla on top of it and holding them out to show the moon hunter. "They have movies hidden away in here on us! MOVIES. I love these things!" she beamed, pulling out another couple of titles that interested her in name only, this bright grin forming on her face. "They've got some pretty good looking ones in here too."
Cassandra, you don't have time for the boy.

Movies at least give you knowledge.

Was that- Could it have been. "Cassandra." Marcus's eyes zerod in on her discovery. It was a godsend. How had they missed these beautiful object of modern technology? Okay, not the most modern but god damn things that didn't involve mindless repetitions and hours of reading old dated novels so filled with nonsensical dated bullshit he wanted to stab something, (Really? The butler? The whole time? Come on where was the originality in that?).
Taking the objects from his semi-girl friend's hand, the moon hunter grinned. "You found these?" You sound amazed. I am ....I'll be impressed with they get naked before something eats them.
"s**t Cass, DVDs, reels, god this is just. You don't think they might have any Noir films? You don't see a projector do you? DVD player? Maybe we have to check hem out. I-" He stopped.
Marcus. Are you thinking what I know you're thinking? Dis answer that yourself. Then why the ******** are you not asking her?
"Movie Night." Marcus's voice was deadpan. "We should have one. Just you me, and the movies."

"There's whole shelves of them!" Cass grinned, relinquishing the items into Marcus's hands when he took them from her, motioning to the display she was standing in front of excitedly. Clearly her excitement over the movies was only best understood by someone who didn't have the opportunity to pick through her head and watch her mental films she had barely memorized.
"I dunno about Noir films, it may be worth peeking through the collection to see what they have. I mean, it's not the most up-to-date selection, but they have plenty to watch. I mean if I watched one movie a night, I would probably take a month or two to get through all of these before it turned into repeats."
That wasn't a long time of movies, but dammit, she'd take it. She'd watch all these movies over so many damn times she'd have them memorized.
"I dunno, I don't see a paper on it or..." she started shifting the rows of tapes to try and find any notices on the ends of the bookshelves. Was there anything about where to watch the movies? Was there a secret 'watch in here' room? Cass looked around the area, trying to see if there were any suspicious looking doors that could hold the answer for her. She paused, looking back to Marcus.
"Hmm? A movie night?"
No.
"N-. HEY!" she paused, making a face. She'd been making those slips quite a bit lately, and every time she'd leer up towards her left temple, as though that was the exact location of the voice in her head, trying to slip words into her mouth. "When? Tonight? Tomorrow night? Right now? I just... I think that'd be great!" she answered brightly, "A good movie after so long of just..hnngghhhhh.." in emphasis, she rubbed one of her shoulders. Nicodemus was hard to wield the way he was meant to be and it wasn't like relaxing was made easy on this island.
Outside of sleeping and having sore muscles all of the time. She could have used a personal masseuse.
"I mean..I guess it'd be kinda...kindalika...kinda..like....a..." her face started turning pink, making it quite easy to tell where she was going with her thought.

Marcus was beyond thrilled. Heck, he might even go so far as to say he jazzed up. And saying he was jazzed up was lame to many, but for him it worked. The island lacked in modern 'non efficient' time wasters in many ways, (no angry bird games on an iPhone), but movies were timeless, ageless things. Even if you memorized every line, one good movie could prove infinity more relaxing than just laying in bed asleep. Besides, sleeping his life away was just so...not him. Marcus had to be doing something, even if that something still waste really not the best use of his life.
As Cass moved, showing him the vast collection the Facility held in it's library, Marcus grinned. As he thrumbed through the titles, he was already picking out his favorites. Dis asking him occasionally what made this movie or that movie better then the other. All the weapon considered was that people died. It's not that they die, it's how they die. When they die.
So? Everybody dies, it's not like it's something new. Look, a movie is sort of how humans think of ways do things that aren't normal. Like dying in gruesome manners? Yes. And you call us weird.
After the less then inlightening mental banter played out, and Marcus reached the end of one row, Cass grabbed his attention with what sounded like an offer. "Cass are you-" The blush was nail on the head and he could only feel a blush of his own rising in reply. Sheepishly he asked. "Cass, would you like to uh...go with me on a date?" The copy of Godzilla lifted up. "To the movies?"

No. Nicodemus was very quick to start trying to talk Cass out of what thought was just happening to pass through her mind with a casual jaunt. Frankly, he was upset he wasn't like this 'Clarence' person who could just delete ideas and ******** with the head of his host. He'd have to figure out if it was a possibility to even pick u- oh, looked like in that story it didn't happen. Hmm. Well, he still would have liked to have had that ability.
Note to self: Figure out the 'Penumbra' mechanics.
"Man, I don't think they have any of my major favorites here though..." Cass mumbled to herself as she looked over the shelves, wondering if she should have tried to bring her copies along with her. That would have been a hefty number of DVDs, but these just.... she missed her colorful critters.
What is a 'Unico'?
<>
But it had been a short lived thought, really, before Nicodemus resumed trying to delete strange ideas out of Cassandra's head. The primary focus being to get her to say NO, NO WANT to the question Marcus had just posed to her. Cass's blush just flushed a deeper shade of pink and she scuffed one of her feet against the floor in a bashful manner. Oh man....
Oh man.....
"Yeah...I'd like that a lot..." She answered, almost as sheepishly as Marcus had asked about it, reaching up to tuck a lock of hair behind her ear. "I mean....yeah.....yes...a lot.. yeah..." she started to ramble, her face getting redder by the minute. Clearly her brain was starting to run too fast - Nicodemus was going to have a hell of a time getting the thoughts to stop before they got to Cass's mouth in the up coming several minutes.
Joyous.

She said yes. For a second Marcus was unsure if he'd even heard her correctly. She'd accepted his offer, and looked just about as confident about it as he did. The date means you two are going to- NO DIS. Aw..... Party pooper. Smiling he kissed the back of her hand, trying to remain collected. "It's a date then."
Marcus would deny the part of date mechanics that included making out for a while. Rushing into things was always bad idea. They had plans for walking and touring, and now a movie night. A- Make out? Dis liked this idea. He liked it a lot. So did Marcus honestly. But starting a movie only to make out? No, that was just sleazy. Besides, just hanging out and watching a movie would just be that. Hanging out, watching a movie. Talking maybe. Or making out.
Marcus sighed and scratched his head. "Sorry Dis is acting up but-" Their selection was a touch limited. "It looks mostly horror, um, what is your favorite movie?" His was The Green Mile. Or The Hangover. Or- well okay he didn't really have a favorite. "It seems only right I ask you out you get to pick the movie."

It was sort of funny how when Cass got excited she seemed to vibrate visibly. However, for Nicodemus it was less funny how the inside of her brain just seemed to be going BBBBBBBBZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ with no end to be seen to it. In fact, it was a lot of mental noise to be happening. It just got louder and more chaotic when Marcus kissed the back of her hand, the blush on her face deepening. lfksdfldf48039sfasfkdsf. She was officially incoherant to Nicodemus, which was a problem in and of itself - now he couldn't sort through her thoughts before she acted on them.
Which just left him going
CASSANDRA. NO. over and over again, in hopes somehow it'd work.
"Yeah, there's a lot of horror. I'm pretty sure they don't have my movie....." she looked at Marcus, then looked away just as quickly, seeming to almost be embarassed. "Probably for the better. I mean...it'sreallycolorfulandhastalkinganimalsandstuff....." she scratched the back of her head awkwardly before looking to the shelves of movies again. "...I wonder if they've got something good without ghosts in it though..." she was sure they did, but the way she said the word 'ghosts' was probably the most bitter and angry tone to ever come out of Cass's mouth. It was possibly angrier than when she'd flipped her s**t at the Florescetival. Clearly, Cassandra hated ghosts.
A lot.
Her mood seemed to change rather quickly, however, when she pulled a tape off of the shelf and turned it over to read the back.
"Oh dude, they've got 'The Thing'! I love this movie!" she beamed, all previous bitterness displayed leaving in a moment as she offered the case to Marcus, a wide grin on her face. "It's very 'Dead Space' esque if you've ever seen or played any of that. Or rather, Dead Space is very Thing-esque, with like morphing alien stuff and slkfds.." there went that excited vibrating again.

Marcus smiled when she reacted in what he saw as rather cute blushing and babble. It really made him want to try kissing her again, just to see what she'd do. Or say. But when she told him they didn't have her movie- "Hrm..maybe we can request a movie? Say we want to study it for the idea of people being adverse to cute colorful talking animals?" It was a long shot, but never hurt to try. Not normally anyways.
When she mentioned ghost Blue eyes widened at her sudden shift in mood. Apparently that was a path he should not travel. But this though left as she presented him with another movie, this one- "Love it huh?" Was she shaking? Check her boobies. Not thinking Marcus did, and- Hahaha, she is shaking! I hate you. You picked her, not me. I would have picked the other guy with - NO.
Marcus was going to so ditch his weapon while they watched the movie. Even if he shouldn't, he would. "Well, I think the Thing will be our date movie then." He smiled, offering her an arm. "Check it out, ask where we can watch it or if they have TVs and players we can check out?"

He would learn. Oh, Marcus would definitely learn about Miss Cassandra Norris and the fabulous fail of ghosts and their adverse effects on her attempt to be a normal child. D list celebrity indeed.
"Or I could say that it's a good display of why living puppets are horrible horrible things. It spends the entire movie turning humans into living dolls and toys and s**t and building it's damn castle out of them." Cass grinned. "Delightful children's film, amirite?"
Either way, Cass accepted the offered arm - a gesture that probably just added to her giddiness. Her brain would probably turn off if he kissed her, though. The little 'gentleman' things - like the kissing the back of her hand - were getting her bad enough. Truly, the man was a wizard. A magician. He held a special magic power over Cassandra that she didn't even think about questioning.
Cassandra. <> You don't have time for a movie. << Yes I do. What else am I going to do with my time?>> Train. << It's mental training. It counts. Totally does.>> Only if you're training to keep the boy's hands off of you.
Cass's lips visibly tightened.
<< Just for that..... >>
The mist hunter looked up at her moon-counterpart. "I'm already checking someone out though." she said plainly. Though it was obvious that she wasn't talking about the tape she had in her hand. In fact, she said it so...nonchalantly it probably was going to take a second to realize that she had said someone and not something. In her head, Nicodemus facepalmed.
That is counterproductive. <>

Marcus had every intention to learn about Cassandra Norris. Ghost he figured would be covered in class. Not while he was busy admiring Cassandra's- It felt like there was a smug smirk coming from his weapon, and Marcus brushed thoughts of Cassandra's form aside. "Should I have asked for a spoiler warning?"
Walking towards the desk, Marcus was in 'glee' mode. Girl on arm? Check. Date set? Check. Movie? Check. Life not looking grim? Check plus. His glee mode went into fits as soon as Cass told him just what she was doing. "I, uh, what?" Did she just hit on him? Just..flat, out there- Oh man she was going to test him wasn't she? "That's good to know." A deep breath and his thoughts managed to sort themselves. Are you gonna say it? "Makes me feel less guilty about how I've been checking you out." YOU SAID IT. "Sadly, I've no plans to really stop."
Marcus. Yeah? You are the best hunter. I am so glad I picked out, even if you don't want to check out that fine male a- Marcus cast a quick glance at Cass, and that easily blocked out his weapon's remarks.

Cass grinned back at him smugly; "Spoiler, it starts happening within about 10 minutes of starting." she said, bumping her hip against Marcus's side teasingly then laughing a bit. Somehow, she doubted that he'd have even liked that movie. It was..colorful..and old...and really, really, really campy. The Thing was a much better choice.
Even if she'd be making video game references through the entire thing.
However, her 'flirting', however innocent and straight-to-point it may have been seemed to be countered with a comment that got the younger hunter to start blushing all sorts of shades of pink, her hand squeezing just a bit tighter at the crook of his elbow. Clearly she hadn't actually been expecting a counter from him at all.
"How is that sad?" she asked after a moment, looking back up at Marcus with a slight tilt of her head, leaning it against the side of his shoulder.
Cassandra.
<< Yeah, Yeah. Bite m->>
Cass winced at the sudden onslaught of unhappiness that was shrieked into her head, her hand squeezing even tighter. Ow ow ow ow ow.....
<< Yeesh! You're just being a little bit of a whiny b***h today, aren't you?>>
...... She could sense that Nicodemus wasn't happy that Cass hadn't just rolled over, but frankly she could have given less of a damn about his opinion on the matter.
"I can't wait to get this belt off and clear my head a bit.." she mumbled, running a finger along the chain she wore on her hips. "I still can't wrap my head around this extra mental baggage going down."

Hips bumping and Dis almost made a comment on how they were bumping on the wrong side. Almost. He didn't, mostly since Marcus told him to shut up and let him focus. He had a girl to flirt with. The weapon figured it was a reasonable request. Marcus was going to flirt, and try not to make too much a fool out of himself. Trusting his chest out just slightly he hoped he was seeming to impress. "How about you ditch the belt for the night?" Technically they weren't supposed to, but it wasn't like they had a mission. Or the teachers were going to come after them.
Would they?
"Take it off, come over to my room, and we'll watch us some Things." A wink and Dis cheered him on. "Meet me in an hour?"

It really was a good thing Nicodemus and Dis were unable to communicate with each other. It would have just gotten all sorts of levels of horrible for their poor 'bonded'.
However, Marcus's attempts to flirt were hitting his young 'victim' pretty damn hard. CRITICAL HIT. CRITICAL HIT. Oh, she was totally going to be weak in the knees for days on end because of one silly boy from New York. Probably with sighing and dope-y smiles to go with it. However, dope-y grin on her face or not, she nodded.
"I think that wouldn't be bad." she answered, though Nicodemus protested the entire idea. He was NOT going to let her leave him behind somewhere. At all. But she was probably going to ditch him in a heartbeat for some peace of mind without interrupted thoughts.
"An hour, hmm? I guess I can stay away for that long." She sighed dramatically, leaning against Marcus's side and putting her free hand over her head dramatically. "With great effort." Cass added as an after thought at the end, grinning.
