There was something about market days that always created a bubble of happiness in Minny.

Even though she had to get up early and help load the truck full of goods to be sold, she didn't mind the loss of sleep. On a day when most kids aren't even grumbling awake yet, Minny was helping unload the truck at the market place and while her father and brother lugged everything to their particular stall at the end of one of the rows. Then she and her mother would organize all of the fruits, veggies, flowers and candles nice and neat. There wasn't a strawberry out of place by the time the first customers filed into the marketplace. She smiled, taking off her brimmed white sunhat and fanning herself with it. The nice weather brought heat, but she wasn't too concerned while wearing a sundress and flip flops.

She ran down the main walkway as her father called to her, and picked up a vase with bundles of late sunflowers. "Now be careful." He said "The pollen could..hey!" She took off laughing, running away from her father's sound advice. A couple of the other vendors called out "Good morning Minny!" when she passed. The vase was placed next to the vase that held beautiful red cannas. "There!" She said, folding her hands behind her back. "The red should make the yellow look nice!'

Her mother chuckled, saying "You are quite the designer Min. Now, I have everything set up. You know what to do?"

"Sure do mamma!" She said gleefully, walking to the end of the row near someone selling various baked goods. The smell reminded Minny that she was hungry, and she'd have to ask her mamma for some money later. But for now...

"Come on over to Apis Farms!" She called, waving her hands to het people's attention. "Fresh fruit, bright flowers, and home made candles for great prices!" She smiled at a couple that laughed when she called out. "Candles made by me! Right over there at Apis Farms! Third stall down!"

This was her job come market time. Advertise for her family. It was much more fun than sitting behind the stall, waiting for people to come by.
