It was the first night of September, and Sailor Aster's favorite season of the year was rapidly coming to a close. How she was going to miss those summer days of fun, tanning and wearing minimal levels of clothing. It was nearly fall, which meant more seasonal clothing - although there was the perk of more attractive foliage. The change of times was already being indicated in the rainy weather.

The Senshi of Sunflowers was thoroughly disappointed, walking alone at night through the streets of Destiny City, her feet splashing in the puddles along the sidewalk. Her hear was drooped low, her long hair soaked from the rain and not containing its usual upbeat and happy bounce that accompanied her typical skip in her step. She thought the night was going to be a total waste until she detected an energy signature - the first sign of life the entire rainy night! And even better, it was a good signature, no sign of the Negaverse.

"Hello?" she cried out, her voice hardly audible in the downpour.

Rain. For a couple of months, Pomona had readily used rain as an excuse not to patrol. She was trying to do better now, so that meant getting wet. However, that did not mean that she liked the rain. It was wet, it was everywhere, and it made certain surfaces very slippery. The Senshi of Peppers had slid and landed on her butt once already that day, so had decided that walking on the ground on a sidewalk like a normal person was in her best interests.

Trudging along, Pomona eventually picked up on another energy signature, one that did not seem threatening. She headed in its general direction, eventually seeing a brightly-colored blob through the rain. Waving a hand in response, Pomona waited to get a bit closer before say, “ Nice weather.”

"******** tell me about it, I know," Aster groaned with a faint smile, a little delighted there was another Senshi to share their weatherly misfortune with. She shifted the faint smile into a complete one and introduced herself with kindness. "I'm Sailor Aster, Senshi of Sunflowers. Of course, right now that sphere isn't really fitting to the scenery."

“ Sunflowers?” She squinted and yep, the girl had a sunflower for a brooch. And hey, who was she to say anything? “ Nice. I’m Pomona, Senshi of Peppers.”

Pomona finally got close enough that she no longer had to squint or shout, so she stopped next to the other Senshi.

“ Are your attacks affected by sun?”

"No, nothing like that I don't think," she said. She had never considered what her powers may do in sunlight - she had only ever gone on patrol at night with the sunset - was it possible that her powers were stronger with the sun? It seemed unlikely, but it would be something she would have to test. "They just shoot sunflower seeds. I'm not much of a fan of it, its all so violent. I just wish we could create peace already in a non-violent way. Its despicable."

She frowned. As a pacifist, she was still not completely comfortable in her Senshi skin. She felt like she had been drafted into the war unwillingly. She avoided violence whenever she could against other humans, and it took a lot of willpower to motivate herself into fighting against feral youma. Although she knew they were creatures of pure evil, she had difficulties letting herself attack an animalistic creautre.

“ If wishes were money.” Said Pomona with a sigh. She wasn’t a pacifist, but neither was a bold, brazen fighter, so she could sympathize to some degree.

“ Most of the youma I fight are already attacking someone else. So it’s… part rescue, art preventative measure. As for Negas…” Pomona shuddered. “ I’ve never killed a Nega. At least, I don’t think I have. They have killed though.”

"You're not sure if you've killed a Negaverse agent?" Aster's eyes widened. How could someone not be sure? "How is that possible? Have you killed anyone? I mean, what are you, some kind of monster who just goes around killing people not sure who they're even killing or caring who you leave behind in the dust? That's awful, really sickeningly awful of you. I can't believe how low of a person you are. It disgusts me!" Her voice was raised to a high level by the end of her lecture, and it was only then that she realized she may have been over reacting.

"Or you know, you could just be a really sweet girl that got her head chewed off by a sunflower chick," she added, trying to lighten the mood in case she crossed the line somewhere (she was thinking she did).

As Aster ranted, a frown began to form on Pomona's face. She didn't get mad - she figured the other girl had just misinterpreted what she said - but she didn't exactly approve of her jumping to conclusions the way she did.

" You're new, aren't you?" It sounded more like a statement then a question. " You weren't in the Battle for Elysion. You didn't fight the snow princess. You weren't there when the Black Phoenix was born. You don't know."

Pomona paused and drew a breath, willing herself to continue in a normal tone.

" In normal, one-on-one situations, I've never killed a Nega, never even seriously harmed one, but in battle? I could've done it without knowing or meaning to. I was too busy fending off anyone that attacked me and staying alive to pay much attention to anything else." Realizing she'd gone off on a bit a rant herself - albiet a calmer one - Pomona shook her head. " Hopefully you won't have to experience a big battle. They're not fun."

"I'm not really much of a fighter," Aster started, her tone seemingly apologetic and honest. "Look, I get that we're in a war. But I'm kind of against the whole idea of that, you dig it? I'm a make love not war gal, and the fact that I'm also a Senshi is a bit complicated for me. I'm sorry for snapping at you, I just really don't approve of the idea of killing, even if we're in this damn war. Its not right."

A sudden sensation tingled up her spine - they were not alone.

"Do you feel that?"

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

The blonde haired Lieutenant Osumilite was strutting proudly down the streets of Destiny City through the rain, glowing orbs of energy in one hand and several bills of cash in the other. It had been a damn good night, an easy night of draining energy and picking up cash, but his perkiness went away at the detection of two Senshi power signals. He arched a brow, curious, and leapt onto the rooftops until he spotted them - two Senshi girls in the rain.

He leapt off the roof and onto the sidewalk on the opposite side of the street.

"Pardon me, ladies," he called through the rain. "I didn't expect to see anyone out here tonight."

“ I’m sorry, I guess I’m touchier on the issue then I thought. I’m not fond of fighting either, and I’m not exactly the best example of a Senshi, so…” Pomona trailed off with a shrug. When she thought about it, it was kinda amazing that she was still alive.

A thought occurred to Pomona and she relaxed, a grin sliding onto her face,“ Maybe our fellow Senshi could use a couple of cheerleaders?”

That was something Pomona could handle. Granted, she had never done cheerleading, but how hard could it be? Surely she’d be better at it then fighting.

… and speaking of fighting, there was a Nega. Great. She was supposed to be putting ********* upgrade to good use, so she couldn’t just ignore him.

“ Speak of the devils and they shall appear.” Pomona muttered to Aster before turning to face the newcomer. She eyed the glowing orbs in his hand and sighed.

“ I don’t suppose you'd just give me those energy orbs if I ask nicely?”

The tall blonde agent laughed heartedly as he slowly approached the two Senshi girls. They didn't appear to be too much of a threat, even if he sensed one was stronger than the other and even if he was outnumbered. They seemed to be the more diplomatic types anyway.

"No, not even if you say please," he said through his chuckles as he arrived on the Senshi girls' side of the sidewalk. He took another step closer.

The long-haired brunette stepped forward as well. "Don't get any closer, agent."

She looked angry as Osumilite took another step, disobeying her order. She was about to lunge at him when Osumilte swiped out his arm and pushed her aside with a full-throttle swing. The girl was swept off her feet and flew through the air a few yards, crashing into a dumpster in an alleyway. That should incapacitate her for now. It was just Osumilite and the short-haired redhead now.

"I don't suppose you'd lend my your star seed if I said 'Please', would you?"

When Aster was swept aside, Pomona flinched, but kept her gaze on the Nega. It wasn’t until he asked for her starseed that disbelief crossed her face and she drew herself up, seemingly affronted.

“ See, it’s like I was telling her,” Pomona waved at the dumpster, “ There’s no winning with you guys. I politely ask for something you stole, then you not-so-politely shove my friend into a dumpster and then ask me to die. Really? Really.”

Granted, Pomona had just met Aster, so they weren’t exactly friends, but that was just a technicality.

“ To answer your question: No. Over my dead body.” Realizing too late what she’d said, she scowled. “ And no, I don’t plan on dying, I just- Argh!”

Talking? Fail. Resort to Plan B: Throwing Magic Fruit.

Pomona Pepper Grenade!”

And now Pomona was holding a large-ish pepper with grenade-like markings on its flesh; better then three little peppers, but still not very scary looking. Plus Pomona wasn’t entirely certain what it would actually do. However, she did have a feeling about what she should do, so she ripped off the stem with her teeth and lobbed it at the agent.

Time to see what this Super business was really about.

Osumilite wasn't able to do so much as think before he was splattered in the face with Pomona's attack. He had never been pepper-sprayed before, or anything similar to that effect, but as soon as the attack landed on him he knew what had happened. His eyes start to swell and inflame until they were sealed shut, burning and itching. His mouth was on fire as he coughed in the gas and tried to stumble his way out of the grenade's range. As he moved about, he swung his microphone around with full force as if trying to hit a pinata - or in this case, a Pomona. He was blinded, however, so his strikes did not have the best aim.

"You little b***h!" he screamed into the street, unsure where his target stood. His eyes were swollen, puffy, red and shut and clearly wet with tears. "You better not have ruined my ******** face! I make my living on this face, you b***h!"

“It’s not like you’re dying!”

Geez! Well, that was certainly more effective then expected; Pomona was pleased with her new attack. It would make for a handy escape tool, but sadly running away wasn’t an option just yet. The Nega still had the energy orbs, and as much as Pomona didn’t want to place herself in range of the man’s flailing, it would be better now then later.

Pomona ducked under a wild swing, getting up close to the agent. She was reaching for the energy orbs when another swing bonked her on the head, causing her to glare at the angry, oblivious agent, but continued towards her goal.

“ I’ll take those!” She said as she tried to tug the orbs free. Tug tug tug. She might not be strong, but she was persistent. That and she had heels, and had every intention of trying to step on his foot if he didn’t let go.

He was still unable to see, but he felt something tugging into his coat pocket. By his reasoning, she was very close. He swept his arms down trying to grab her, wrapping his arms tightly around the girl.

"I've got you now," he grinned, still blinded.

"Not so fast!" the brunette called, rising from the floor as she called: "Sunflower Turret!"

A small sunflower emerged from the ground before her that began to shoot sunflower seeds at a rapid rate towards Lieutenant Osumilite's back.

"What the---!" he cried, the pellets hitting him harshly. He swung around with Pomona in his arms and used her as a human shield to block the attack. It was only then that he let go of her and backed away, his vision slowly starting to restore. One of the orbs had slipped out of his pocket, but he had the others still.

Hoping to take the moment to sneak away, he began to run.
