Celebrating Gaian Spirit Week!

So I put myself in the arena! (Not my current avatar, haha)
I don't expect to do very well, mostly I'm just wanting to get as many tips as I can about how to approve it.

So how many of you have submitted your avatars in the past? How did you do? About what you expected? Or were you better/worse?
And did you submit in hopes of winning? Or did you have reasons like mine, curious what people thought?

I have voted for people in the avatar arena but never submitted myself. I never have the extra gold or never make teh extra gold to do such a thing. confused
