Aagiro padded back and forth in front of the temple, looking slightly distant. This was... this was unbelievable! How could this of happened? Well, she wasn't stupid. She knew how it had happened... but now of all times? They'd finally settled into their new home, but she doubted that Nen actually had forgotten about the bet...
And it wasn't like he was bad with cubs or anything... he was around them all day. He better have been doing his job properly! She huffed and finally sat, but as she glanced down she groaned and stood again. That position definitely made things too obvious... no, her shape wasn't really the problem. Her scent was different, even she could tell as much.
She turned to head back into the temple because it was getting dark. But just as she did so she spotted Nen slipping out. They made eye contact, and Aagiro's gaze went wide in a slight panic. She wasn't ready to tell him, not yet! She turned in habit and started to move in the opposite direction from him.

Aagiro had seemed so...distant lately. Well...ever since...that night...and...well...Ammon'nen shook his head. He was in the den, watching over the cubs who had settled in for the night, a smile crept up to his maw. One day...one day soon, he and Aagiro would be blessed with youngsters of their own. Sometimes though, Nen believed he could wait. After all, there was a busy den right now bustling with young cubs, how many more could he and the other nannies look after?
When he was relieved of his shift for a few hours, he had decided to go find Aagiro. They needed to spend some quality time together without spending the quality time together. He exited the den, spotting the female quickly in an instant. How could you not miss that black pelt with the almost glimmering spots on her. A wide grin was placed on his maw, as he made his way to her. But was stopped when she turned to move. What the...?
"Aagiro? Hey Kitten!" He called out, following the female.

She groaned as she heard him call after her, knowing he was following. She felt instantly horrible and scared at the same time, how could this happen? She didn't want to feel guilty about hiding something from Nen... but what if he just treated the whole thing like some sort of joke? Or if he mentioned anything about that bet! She would be furious!
She kept moving forward only for a moment, finally sighing and trying to gather up her courage as her head hung and she waited. It didn't take Nen long to reach her and move in front of her. She looked up slowly, sheepishly smiling at her mate. "Hello." She never said hello, and it was obvious with how awkward the word hung in the air.
She swallowed, but with him being this close and his wonderful scent... she felt herself automatically shift forward and nuzzle her head into his fluffy chest, purring without restraint. She didn't mean to be hot and cold but...

'Hello'? That was...strange. Aagiro had never said Hello. It was more so along the lines of Nen! Or Princess! Or ...something like that. A plain old hello was not right. "Are you...okay?" If Nen was observant, he might have noticed the slight bulge of her belly, or even the scent was different. But for Nen, he had been watching cubs the whole day, and he was tired. Little things like this he hadn't caught up on so quickly.
He gave a nuzzle to his mate. "You know you can tell me anything...right?" The starry male purred. While he missed his usually 'debacles' with Aagiro, he just knew there were days that he just had to 'play it safe' and chose his words carefully.

She breathed in again, not wanting to show her face to her mate. "Yes." She mumbled at his question of concern, only half lying. As he spoke again guilt washed over her, and she nodded her face which was still against his chest. She swallowed as she pulled far enough away to sit slowly, watching him a moment.
"I... how was today?" She mumbled, not able to muster enough energy to be herself but also not able to come out with what was actually bothering her. She couldn't tell him... well, she could. He'd just said so. But was she ready? Were they ready? She guessed that didn't matter either because there was nothing to do if they weren't ready.
"Are... are the cubs too much to handle lately?" She said, trying to string the words she wanted to say to him together. But her brain felt like mush, and it seemed she wanted to string nonsense. "I mean.. what if.. more females start birthing litters.. would.. the nannies be prepared for that?" Subtle hinting, sure.

Yes, something was definitely off about her. She was asking about his day? Even on her good days, Aagiro was always not...as friendly. "...Fine...?" He murmured, his light eyes gazing into her dark bown ones. "I should ask you the same thing..." but he didn't. He was as silent as he could be, oberving the female bit by bit. What was off about her today..?
Are the cubs too much to handle? Why would she ask such a thing?! "No...they are just like they are every other day. Us 'nannies' can handle ourselves rather well at the moment!" and then she brought up if more cubs would mean that they would be prepared. "I...would think we...are..." Why would she ask such a thing?
Nen was so dense at some times.
And then it hit him. Was she...no she couldn't be...just from one night...no...
"Aagiro?" he asked questiongly, though never speaking a question. His tone just held it all.

She could tell instantly everything she was saying and asking to her mate was throwing him off, and undoubtably he was a little confused with her actions. At this point she was not sure if this was good or bad, or somewhere in between. He was stumbling more and more through his words, slowing down. She was sure his brain was beginning to connect the pieces, it made her stomach lurch and twist about in an uncomfortable manner. She was sure that couldn't be good for the babies... oh dear what if they had some huge litter? One or two would be best, three might be pushing it... oh gods above! She couldn't start thinking about this right now!
Her eyes met his and then sunk to her paws as he spoke her name again, the question clear even though it had never been spoken. After a moment she nodded slowly, not saying a word. She glanced to his paws, then toward his face, weakly smiling. "Surprise?" She mumbled, "Guess I finally fulfilled the b.." Her mouth clicked shut. What was wrong with her brain? She didn't want to bring up the bet! Damn her, she was feeling like her brain was nonexistent today! "Had to tell you." She finally tried to push the words into what she'd cut herself off from saying, though it made the sentence even more awkward.

A look of shock plagued his face. He…he couldn’t believe it! He was going to be a father! His heart fluttered in his chest, beating wildly. Even though the cubs wouldn’t be due for a few more moons, just the thoughts of little Nens…and little Kittens running around the den brought a smile to his maw. A smirk quickly flashed; he had caught what she was about to say. “I knew in time you would fulfill you end of the bet,” he joked, bounding over to the female, wrapping his paws around her. “I am glad you did!
“I love you Aagiro! We will be one big, happy,” dysfunctional, “family! I hope there are lots of cubs. Little you look alikes, little me lookalikes.” Nen was already picturing it now. There was a young boy that looked like Aagiro, but acted like Nen. Vice versa with a little girl as well. Oh, how he wanted to see them!

Her face mirrored his own, and it seemed more upset-shocked than just shocked. He was upset. He didn't actually want cubs! But then he was smirking... and then he was bringing up the damned bet! Aagiro scowled at him. "Now you wait a minute-!" But he was suddenly flinging himself onto her, and she realized he was not upset. It was the opposite, he seemed thrilled! "oi! Be careful you ninny!" She mumbled, batting him lightly with a paw. Still, she sounded almost slightly amused! She mumbled something else, but it was too hard to make out as she nuzzled into his body, purring slightly.
She could not stay annoyed at him, not when he seemed so happy.. "Big?" Was that the only word she'd picked out from what he was saying? She certainly did not want a big family! "You... don't think we're going to have a big litter do you Nen? Were you from a large litter? I wasn't! Oh gods above... little you and me lookalikes... all of them acting like you and I! No... we can't have a big litter!" She sounded panicked by the idea, especially thinking about trying to care for so many little trouble makers. "Two... three... that would be a nice sized litter.."

Nen’s eyes widened as he just realized that he could hurt her and the cubs in such a big hug. He quickly let go, raising a paw to the back of his head as he scratched in his mane. “Sorry, I forgot!” Ammon’nen would become a very protective father, even though the cubs were yet to be born. This also meant that hew ould be very protective over Aagiro while she still held the cubs in her womb. No one would hurt her! There was to be no traveling or firekin hunting while she was pregnant (or when she was not pregnet, regarding the firekin statement. That was just a no-go in general).
“YES BIG! But no, I was from a small litter. It was me and my sister.” While he didn’t remember his family much, he wasn’t saddened by this fact. This was a joyous moment! “We should have a big litter!” It was always a guy’s perspective to have a big litter, with a lot of boys! “I think more like five…or even six would be good! Three boys, and three girls?” He offered. Aagiro was going to slap him soon if he didn’t shut up.

She snorted and shook her head, it was typical Ammon'nen would forget so quickly. She leaned forward and nipped his nose, smirking herself.
But as he disagreed with her, insisting that he wanted a large litter, her scowl returned. He'd come from an even smaller litter than she had! Not that she'd stayed with her family long... She just stared at him for a long moment and then huffed, shoving him away as she moved to turn back towards the temple, grumbling. "Bah, have fun taking care of them all. Big litter... of course you would want such a big litter.." Most of this was mumbled under her breath, so he wouldn't hear her. She didn't really want to hurt his feelings or anything, she just also didn't want a large litter. How could he understand that? He would't be the one carrying them around.

As he was pushed away, Nen looked confused. He had said something wrong again, hadn’t he? “Hey…Aagiro!” Bah, he had just come back from the temple, he wanted to go outside, stay by the oasis…something other than staying indoors. Oh well…Maybe Aagiro just wanted some time for herself. Oh, he knew! He would go on a hunt for her. Sure it wasn’t his job, but he wouldn’t have his lovely mate work so hard for him anymore. Not now, at least.
“I’ll be back Kitten!” He called back towards her fleeing form. “I’ll bring you a surprise too!” Nen was actually excited to go do something for Aagiro. This was going to be a start to a new chapter of their life story.
