Name of Pup: Kalain
Personality: Kalain is a bit of a scatter brain. He's sweet as candy, and he likes to be see people smile. In fact, he makes it his mission to bug people until he sees them smile, even to the point it's like he stalks them. He likes to help people, and to be useful, but he's unable to do anything properly. Best case scenario, he can make food a little burnt or a room he cleans messier than it was left, worst case scenario you'll come home to a disaster area or a small kitchen fire. He has the most innocent intentions, but no one he knows trusts him with even the tiniest tasks. This tends to get him down a lot. Like I said, he loves to help people, but no one wants his help. The only thing Kalain is good at is cheering people up. He's good at making sloppy gifts by hand, but the attempts always make people happy, and that's all Kal wants in life. He loves every one of his siblings, especially his younger siblings, but they tend to call him "girly." He does love cute things, and his sweetheart demeanor gives them the wrong impression. He's very easy to push around, and his sisters love him because he's willing to play dress up or look for their toys or even let them dress him up in dresses, wigs, and makeup.
Prompt:
Kal set his head down on his paws, ignoring the wig his sister's has set on top of him and the poofy pink dress. It had been a long day . . .
Kal blinked, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes. That had been a nice nap. Strange. He'd never, ever, gotten a full rest. Usually his sisters would jump him, practically begging him to let them dress him up again. The soft darkness outside tried to get him to close his eyes again, but he couldn't let this go. He stumbled onto his legs and peeked out into the hallway. Helloooo?" The silence pressed on him, and he shivered. It was dark, and the trees cast spooky shadows outside the windows and batted against them, making noises that made him jump. Where were they? He peeked into the next room, and the next, shedding his dress up clothes and wig as he went. The silence made him so jumpy, but he didn't dare go outside. The creepy things were outside; the werewolves, and vampires, and zombies, and . . . ! He snuck underneath his parents bed and battened down the hatches. He could hear knocking on the door. What waited for him to open it and attack when he least expected it? The knocking became even more persistent, getting louder and louder by the second. He dragged his parent's blanket under with him and snuggled in their scent. Mommy! Daddy! Where did they go?! Someone unlocked the door and padded into the room, then snuck a nose under the bed. He shook, terrified, and slowly opened one eye, sure he'd be greeted with some crazed maniac, only to see his mother smiling at him, his father right behind her, his sisters scratching at the door, calling out to him. "Kal! KAL!!! Where are you? We wanna play!" His mother just smiled, dragging the blanket and her son out with her. He jumped out of his blanket and cocked his head to the side, still not convinced. "Where did you guys go?" They just smiled. "Don't you remember? Tonight was "insert name here"'s party. We tried to wake you up, but you refused to!"
I'm pretty sure it's within 500 words . . .
