The sound of rushing water greeted Dimitri's ears as he finally found the glen he was looking for. Overshadowed by a large waterfall and surrounded by trees, the area was usually deserted, meaning Dimi could bathe in peace without worrying about probing eyes. He lipped at the clasp on his cape and let it slide off his shoulders before bending down to remove his mask with a practice flick of his knee. Placing the two off to the side, Dimtiri tossed his head happily and stepped into the pool of water before him, letting the crash of the waterfall fill his ears. It had been a while since he had felt so relaxed. Looking around once more, Dimitri saw no one around and smiled to himself. As a leaf floated down from the trees above, the black stallion jumped and snapped at it playfully, chasing it through the water with glee. The mask he usually wore hid nothing more than his bright blue eyes and the unseen scars of his past. No one knew why he wore the mask and he gave a different answer to all who asked depending on his mood. But such somber thoughts did not grace his mind now... now all he cared about was being clean and catching that leaf.

Shalar growled low in his throat as he watched his little familar Petal run away from him, the little mouse had turned out to be far more trouble than she was truely worth... and if it hadn't been for his father's insistant that he honor his aggrememnt to look after her he may have found another home for her by now. Yet even as that thought crossed his mind Shalar knew the truth.... he actually enjoyed her company, some of the time at least.
"Come back Petal." He said as he wandered towards where she had ran off to, his ears picked up the faint sound of water splashing around near by and he suspected that Petal was enjoying a swim. With a quickened step Shalar doubled his pace towards the water.
When he got there he blinked, the sight of the waterfall was beautiful, his heart thundering within his chest at the same rate as the waterfall.... and it took a moment for him to notice that someone was actually within the pool of water. When a splash of disturbed water caught his attention he turned, expecting to see his familar but instead seeing a black stallion with stunning blue eyes.
Shalar said nothing, simply stared at the swimming stallion as he chased his leaf.

Dimitri had just caught the leaf in his lips when he felt the fur on the back of his neck prickle nervously. It felt like someone was watching him... turning slowly, Dimitri stiffened as he saw a stallion on the bank. He stood and stared for a moment, vaguely noticing his impressive wings and stunning hair while his thoughts went for a whirl in his head. It took a moment before Dimi's mind came to a screeching halt, with only one thought dominating all the rest. My mask...
It lay on a soft cushion of heather a few steps behind the new stallion, and Dimi felt his heart sink. I'm not wearing my mask... was the only thing he could think as he stood in the water up to his stomach. He had to get to it... he had to put it on... the stallion was in the way... how dare he gaze upon him while he wasn't wearing his mask! Dimi growled and pawed the air angrily, "How long have you been standing there...?!"

Shalar raised an eyebrow as the scared stallion reacted to his presence... it wasn't that he hadn't anger others before, but in this case he had no idea what he done. It wasn't as if he had stumbled across him doing something inappropriate... and once again he found himself almost drawn to those piercing blue eyes that seemed to shine out of the strangers face.
With a shrug of none chalance Shalar simply said, "Not long." In a way he supposed that was his attempt to stop the other stallion 'overreacting', which in Shalar's mind she was positive the stallion was doing... who simply erupted for no reason?
Unless....
Shalar pulled his gaze from the strangers eyes and face and tried to look for features of a kalona, cross breeds or even pure Kalona's were known to be volitile.... yet once Shalar's inspect was done he could determine no such features. Was the stallion simply crazy? Or maybe he just hated being watched. At no point had Shalar noticed that a mask sat behind him, had he he may have actually understood a little.

Dimi was in a panic, he could not think straight... what was worse was that this stallion kept looking into his eyes. Oh how he wished he would stop doing that... if he were wearing his mask this wouldn't be a problem. No one had gazed upon his face since... well it didn't matter since when. It had been a long time ago and Dimi had learned how dangerous it was to let other see the feeling behind his eyes.
The strange stallion finally pulled his gaze away form Dimitri's eyes and the black stallion bristled at the inspection. What exactly was he looking for...? It was the stallion's off-handed way of addressing the situation that just rubbed Dimi's fur the wrong way. With a snarl he swung his head from side to side and stomped at the ground, splashing a bit because he was still up to his ankles in the water, "And how long are you planning on just standing there...?"
His panic slowly turned to anger... he had to get this strange stallion away from his mask... what if he stepped on it! The anger seeped back into panic and Dimitri made a rush for it. In a flail of hooves and fur, Dimi ran straight for his sun mask, not caring that the other stallion stood in the way... he'd shove past him if he had to...! That mask was given to him in a right of passage... if something were to happen to it... Dimi shuddered at the thought... he'd never be able to see his herd again.

Shalar raised an eyebrow at the strangers words and actions, they seemed... out of place, an Shalar couldn't help but feel like he was missing something, he simply didn't know what. Part of Shalar's mind was distracted by the idea that Petal had run off... what if she stumbled into this stallions path without Shalar's protection? It was enough to drag a soft growl from his lips... just as his eyes spotted the movement of the stallion rushing towards him.
Deciding not to engage, Shalar stepped to the side with a grace known to flutters, his wings opening to reveal a beautiful butterfly-esque pattern that he had inherited from his parents. Strange eyes stared out of his wings, unblinking and unseeing, just a little unnerving... still they were stunning, a combination of peach, lilac and purples topped with a soft purple bush of feathers. His would be attacker flew past him, and it was then that Shalar spotted a glint of gold that must have been behind him. Turning to face the object and his attacker he titled his head curiously, his mind cool and collected as he pieced together what he suspected was the remaining pieces of the puzzle.
Had the stallion been trying to protect the object? In an effort to calm the male down so that he didn't charge again Shalar spoke softly; "I am simply looking for Petal... I mean you no harm." It was truth, thugh if this stallion became a threat to Petal then he would have to deal with Shalar! That was also truth.

(( XP Oh well... there goes all hopes for a fight... Shalar just placated him entirely... though Dimi will continue to be pretty huffy...))
Dimitri prepared himself for a collision that never came and found himself standing over his mask with little or no opposition. He glanced at the other male as he moved away and then froze in shock... Dimi just noticed how beautiful the winged stallion was. Trying to hide his shock and confusion, he busied himself with tossing his cape back around his shoulders and clasping it. Then, he slipped his mask back on and seemed to slump with relief. The comforting weight of the gold on his face seemed to placate him entirely and he could finally think straight.
Turning slightly, his eyes now completely hidden in the shadows of his mask, Dimi looked the stallion over. Dimitri was the sort that could appreciate a good looking Soq, be it male or female. And Shalar... he was about as good-looking as it got. If nothing else, his wings could be a source of fascination of hours.
With a snort, Dimi pawed the ground and replied roughly, "Looking for a petal...? Not even the whole flower...? Whatever for?!" The masked stallion was not in the mood to listen to nuance, so he did not catch that the other male had said 'petal' like a name and not like an object. In his mind he saw Shalar wandering around looking for a tiny piece of a plant, and the image almost made him snort with laughter... almost...

Shalar raised an eyebrow and stopped mid step as he turned to face the strange grounded stallion once more. He noticed how everything seemed to have changed with the 'mask' safely back in place, his whole demeaner seemed to have relaxed and soothed itself. Magic? Shalar knew that such things exsisted, or was it simply that the stranger felt safer behind his mask? It was fitting, Shalar thought, so many people wore masks even if they were not physical things.
With a shake of his head, his glorious locks bounced and waved around him. "Petal," He began, aware that several of his rose petals had started to fall to the ground with his sudden head movements, "Is a mouse." It was matter of factly, no anger towards the stranger who had misunderstood and no real emotion towards the creature in question. Shalar was too worried on the inside to risk sharing that externally.... after all, things like that were easy to use against someone.
He turned his head away again, a noise catching his attention.... it was nothing. Just a rustle of the leaves caused by the wind. HE WAS GOING TO KILL PETAL when he saw her again. He sighed, and decided that perhaps this stallion could be of use.... "She is small, pink with a soft flower design on her rear legs, annoying as hell with pink eyes... oh, and she usually holds a fan." He turned back to the stranger. "Have you seen her?" as Shalar finished he had a sudden impression that was the most he had said to anyone in one go for a long time.

Dimitri tilted his head curiously as Shalar shook his and rose petals began to fall about him. So entranced was he by the beauty and grace of this strange stallion that Dimi almost didn't register what he had said. Blinking his unseen eyes a few times, he shook his head to clear it and looked around curiously. "Ah... the petal is a mouse. A pink mouse nonetheless..." he murmured and then paused, as though pondering something.
Should he help this random stallion find his mouse...? It's not that Dimitri felt bad for snapping at him earlier, it was more that he didn't want the male to think him unstable. It would be a terrible reputation. But Dimitri was rather worthless when it came to looking for things. His mask served its purpose by covering his eyes, but it also made it harder for him to see. "I do apologize, but I do not believe I have seen her. However, I'm willing to offer a helping hoof in locating her..." Dimitri had a rather keen sense of smell, though he wasn't sure if he was willing to degrade himself by walking around with his nose to the ground like a hound... he guessed it just depended on how hard it usually was to locate this mouse.

Shalar blinked several times at the strange masked stallion before him, but he decided not to comment beyond that, his worry for Petal outrode any other notions. "That would be appreciated." He finally said before looking away to continue his search for Petal.
Silly little thing was probably stuck in a plant somewhere or something, he growled, "Worthless little creature," he mumbled as his eyes scanned over bushes, trees, long grass.... you would think that something pink would be easy to spot in a world mostly covered in green... you would be wrong. If she didn't want to be found she rarely was.

"Perhaps keeping track of Petal would be easier if she wore a bell..." Dimitri noted casually as he began to peer through the underbrush. How to go about this? Something so small... it could not have gone far very quickly. Should they search in expanding circles or follow a scent? It made Dimi cringe inside to consider the second option, so instead he inquired, "Would you know where your little friend likes to go or hide?"
It would be so much easier to help look for something if his mask didn't interrupt his eyesight. Picking his hooves daintily through the mud, Dimitri walked past Shalar and tried to take a discrete deep breath. If he was going to scent out the mouse, he needed a scent, and he didn't want Shalar to know he was stooping down to the level of a common dog simply because he wouldn't take off his mask. Keeping his face somewhat lower than necessary, Dimitri swung his head back and forth as though scanning the forest... though he was actually casting about for what would probably be a scent halfway between mouse and the rather floral scent of Shalar.
