Hello everyone :3

I need some advice on a little problem I have.
You see my fiance shattered his ankle when he was young and his family didn't have money to pay for surgery to fix it properly. The doctors did what they could and his ankle eventually healed to some extent. However, it still causes him immense pain everyday. He is on medicine to help ease the pain but nothing seems to work.

I feel like I have to try something to help him and so I started looking on the internet and studying herbs. I was wondering if anyone has used herbs, crystals, or anything else to ease pain and if they could give me some advice.

Thank you in advance for any and all advice :3

I might have a ointment recipe that might be worth a shot, just give me some time to find it.

A basic one that's supposed to help with joints is oatmeal. Take 2 cups of oats and one cup of water, cook it up in the microwave. Scoop up some of it and rub it into the joints, where it hurts. The heat will help and the oatmeal helps to lock in that heat. Massage it in circular motions for as long as you want. For anti-inflammatory effects (swelling) add two teaspoons of yarrow to it.

Eat alfalfa or take alfalfa pills, it's great for the bones. Take chondroitin sulfate 700 mg pill once daily, it's great for strengthening joints. Vitamin E is good as well. Ginger is probably the BEST out there. You can make tea out of it or kind of mash it up and apply it directly. It's also great for menstrual cramps. :3

I can't seem to find the ointment recipe though. D:

I think I'll give the oatmeal one a try if he'll let me and I will probably try the ginger one too if I can afford it. Thank you so much for your help and if you do find the ointment one please send it to me :3

Have you tried Epsom salts? They are not expensive and easy to get at most grocery or drug stores. There is debate on whether or not they really work, because there is no real evidence either way. But it is considered a "folk" remedy. It's not an herb or anything, just an idea. I have taken Epsom baths for my knee and back pain.

Ginger is super cheap. You can usually find it at the grocery store for like...less than a dollar a root lol. That root goes a looong ways too.

I'm all for using herbalism and stuff- but I'm not sure his problem would be helped by it. He's already taking pain pills- so covering up the pain isn't working, and it sounds like it didn't heal properly- which means increasing the body's ability to heal isn't going to fix it.

Herbalism and stuff works by supporting the body's natural healing process- if the body has healed, but it healed so it rubs a nerve or something, the healing process is complete and there isn't anything the herbs can do except mask the pain.

You may want to take him to an orthopedic doctor and get a consultation.

I've never applied it directly personally. For muscle aches I always make it into a tea. Just cut a hunk off, or shave some off and seep it. For direct application I would say get some oatmeal. Let some of the ginger seep in the water you're going to use (for as long as you want) and then just mix that (water and ginger) in with the oatmeal and cook it like that. Ginger tea is pretty tasty though and very good for you.

She was only asking for something that might help with the pain. I don't think any of us were under the illusion that these would fix the problem.
