This is a PRP between Van (Kurama no Koishi) and Sarangerel (Bikicakes)

Setting:
Sara has invited Van to the hot springs for a girls' night out, when the evening takes on a more serious mood.
PostPosted: Mon Aug 29, 2011 3:23 pm

Today was going to be perfect, for today she was meeting Van at the hot spring. Sara had felt really guilty lately about the fact that the two girls were yet to meet under casual circumstances. There was always some drama clouding their interactions and as a result, preventing Sara from getting to know the black haired girl on a more personal level. She liked Van, truly, from the bottom of her heart, she thought she had a kind soul and beauty which otherwise only existed in fairytales and dreams. The Conduit felt a strange attraction to her, something about her drew her in, enchanting her in some unexplainable way. Today was the day, she told herself, today was the day that her and Van would truly become friends.

Sara was waiting in the changing rooms, teal eyes staring at her reflexion in the mirror. She had come to terms with her new look, even though her scars were not on display, the sight of them did not disgust her. Maybe she could thank Bataar for that one, he seemed to have accepted them, so she saw no reason why she should be too bothered. She had matured a lot since then, looking back on how the events now, she wished she had handled them differently. Then again there were a lot of events in her past that she wished to change. The past was the past, the only way she could go was forward. No regrets.

Sara took in a deep breathe before she started to remove her clothing, buckle after buckle, sash after sash. Despite how much she liked her conduit attire it was a real fuss to get in and out of it. After that battle was won she reached for one of the soft towels the bathhouse provided. In the mirror the caught sight of the fresh tattoo that Jianyu had done for her, a simple blue sun around her navel. It made her smile slightly, she had got to know him so well that day and she had left with such a wonderful gift. She found herself warming to the Captain, his kind smile, his calming aura, Yue was a lucky woman indeed.

She wrapped the white material around her frame, making sure it would not fall from her bust. She was still very self conscious about her appearance, even around other girls. Her new attire might show off more skin than her previous costume, however showing flesh and being naked where two different things, in the nude she felt so vulnerable, especially when she had such gorgeous figures around her. Sometimes she wondered how people could be so confident and bold, Odval usually walked around with her breasts oozing from her bra, Bataar bathed naked in rivers for goodness sake… maybe it was a Mongol thing.

Sara was no Mongol, she was not even scared of thunder.

She piled her clothes neatly in a stack, last but not least laying her headdress on the top. She brushed her teal hair forward to rest over her shoulders, it flowed down past her waist and gently fluttered as she moved. Maybe it was getting a little too long, yet she could not bring herself to cut it. She smiled and placed her clothing in a chest, after she locked her possessions away she put the key around her neck. Now, where in Lunaria was Van?

Van hummed quietly as she walked; she was probably in the best mood she had been in since the incident with her brother. Her productivity was at a high today—she’d returned from a mission that morning, and spent the rest of the day practicing her leopard fist in her home’s training grounds. Now, she was ready to rest her tired limbs in a long, warm bath. But Sara had had an even better idea, and so the fighter was heading toward the hot springs now to spend some time with her new acquaintance.

This wasn’t to say that she would call Sara a close friend yet, but there was something about the younger girl that coaxed a sense of caring out of her. It was a sisterly, even motherly feeling, but in this case Van didn’t mind. She could tell that Sara wasn’t the kind of person to take advantage of it, and because of this the fighter was surprisingly comfortable in her company.

The fighter reached the springs now, paying the nominal fee and collecting supplies at the entrance before passing through the women’s baths on her way to the locker room. The hour was such that there were few others around to hear their girlish chit-chat—the two of them would be able to find a corner of the springs to themselves.

She burst into the locker room suddenly, to find Sara wrapped in a towel inside. An easy smile quickly formed across Van’s pretty face. “Hey, Sara!” Throwing her bag on a nearby bench, Van reached over to give Sara a brief hug around her shoulders. “Give me just a minute to get ready, ‘kay?” And with that, Van stalked over to an empty locker, kicking off her boots and metal leggings and throwing them into the chest.

Another moment and she’d rid herself of her purple outerwear, and she stood, much plainer, in her short black dress. There was a pause now as Van undid her hair, letting the long waves cascade down her back. It wasn’t apparent now, but the fighter had done this to hide the fresh cuts and healing scars on her back, marks she’d received from that fateful night during which the Nobles stormed the Au household.

It wouldn’t do to draw attention to the single long jagged cut—one that would surely heal into an ugly scar if Van didn’t get it checked out—not when she was supposed to be treating herself and having fun with Sara tonight. Once she had slipped out of her dress and wrapped a towel around her generous curves (there was no shame, they were both girls here, weren’t they?), she turned again to Sara. “Shall we?”

Sara jumped a little as she felt someone grab hold of her shoulders, a fairly familiar scent of perfume hitting her nostrils. She smiled and looked to the girl at her side with a faint blush painting her tanned cheeks. She was always quite sheepish and even though she was not as nervous and shy as she was as a student, she was still a little jumpy.
Though soon such emotions left her and she was just happy to be around her old friend, it seemed like Van had changed a bit since their last meeting, a lot of things had changed since then. “Van, it’s good to see you again!” She stated with a small bow and a welcoming smile. She blinked and then remembered, this was the first time she had seen Van since she had graduated.

“I hear congratulations are in order, it was not too long ago since we were both students.” That had met under odd circumstances; it was funny to think they had both come so far since then, from what she remembered they had talked about ranks and graduations. Now she had a fighter standing before her, with the potential to reach captain if not more. She had said she could imagine Van going far, she still believed that to this day.

She scanned her new attire, clearly her sense in fashion had not changed. Van was without a doubt the best dressed Lunarian she had ever seen in her life, she quite like the femme fatal look she had going on at the moment. Though as she removed her clothing something jumped out at her...

Sara had always been quite observant, working at the temple meant she usually had to give physical exams to people. That being said it did not take her long to notice the fresh new scars which Van had received. It looks like she had already found conflict with her new rank; things were just going to get a whole lot more dangerous from here. “That looks quite nasty.” She mumbled, positioning herself behind her.

Sara placed her hand on Van’s back, moving her hair and adjusting her towel so she could take a better look at them. They were going to scar, even though Sara possessed healing magic she was not a miracle worker, she was able to quicken the healing process, yet if they were destined to leave a mark they would. “Stay still...” She whispered to her, Sara closed her eyes and took in a deep breath, preparing herself to work the magic in which she specialised.

Sara’s hand gained a faint blue aura, the energy which admitted from it was cold. All dead soul conduits had cold energy and aura, everything so close to death felt like a corpse. Almost instantly the wound started to move, skin knitting together, redness fading, and the general sting fading. When she moved her hand away what was left were white marks, much like the ones which were on Sara’s face.

Sara could feel herself go slightly light headed, moving over to the door she rested her hand on the frame. ”Yes, lets.” She smiled, she was looking forward to this soak.

Van smiled brightly in response to Sara’s greeting. “Likewise,” she replied cheerily. There was something about Sara that made Van able to relax, able to let down her guard, even if just a little. The fighter took a moment to assess the other woman now, realizing that neither of them were girls anymore. Van had wanted to see Sara’s new Soul Conduit attire, but that would have to wait until afterward. Even in just a towel, she could tell that Sara had matured since the last time they’d met... and Van was pleased to see that she’d taken her advice in growing her hair out.

Somewhere in a state of half-undress, the purple Lunarian mumbled out a congratulations in return. She meant it, of course, but her voice was a bit muffled under the silk getup she was struggling to get out of. A few moments passed before the fighter’s head popped into view again, and she was briefly baffled when she saw that Sara was out of sight.

The woman’s voice behind her told her that she was behind her, and Van stiffened as she felt her dark hair being moved over her shoulder, and gentle hands moved her towel so that her scars were now exposed. Van bit her lip as she felt air touching the raw skin, and memories of how she got them came flooding into her mind’s eye. She could feel her stomach lurch.

But she had to keep calm; tonight was supposed to be a fun night, not a serious one. Jumping a little when the cold energy hit her skin, Van had to bite back another yelp of surprise. The sudden contrast with the hot steam of the baths was great, and the fighter shivered slightly, aware now that Sara had chosen the path of the dead soul conduit. Van thought this was an interesting choice for Sara, but it wasn’t something she wasn’t expecting.

The feeling of flesh knitting together was odd. It was gentle, not as painful as she’d imagined; Van could say that the sensation even tickled. The fighter had never procured any injuries that had needed healing with magic before this. Perhaps, with time she could get used to it. When Sara had finished, Van couldn’t help but reach back to touch the new scars, startled to find that the skin was no longer ruptured, and the pain had lessened to a dull ache whenever she overstretched.

Turning, Van reached out to hug the other Lunarian around the shoulders briefly, but firmly. “Thank you, Sara.” She hooked the conduit’s arm in hers, heading outside to a more secluded part of the baths. She smiled absently as she cast her towel off and settled slowly into the steaming water, but one could see a sadness in her eyes now.

There was something not quite right with Van today, there was a lot more than physical strain in battling, there was also all the mental wounds that still had to heal. Those where the ones which were truly a struggle to recover from, she knew that much at least.

Sara smiled, bright eyes watching the woman wonder over the the baths, it was a delicate subject, thinking about it she had never really stuck her nose into the business of others when it came to fighting. She never found out why Bataar had so many scars, she never asked Yue how she hurt her hands. However everyone seemed to know how she had gotten hers, sometimes she would rather no-one did, she wanted to forget about it herself, to put that chapter to rest forever. The lifted her delicate fingers up to mess with her fringe, making sure it was still in place before she went to join her friend in the steamy water. Her towel falling behind her as she did.

When Sara sat she brought her legs up to her chest and wrapped her arms around them, long hair fell over her shoulders and spread out over the top of the water like a lily pad. She kicked her foot slightly to create ripples, watching as they waved and dispersed on the surface.

"You know, last time I came here; me, Yue and Mei invaded the men's side. We were all so young then, Yue was not married, Mei was still talking to me. I protested but Yue had a way of making me do anything she wanted and she promised Mei that their was food at the other side. We caused so much chao's that day it was unreal. I felt like drowning myself out of embarrassment. There is a good reason why there is two sides to this place and no-one deserves to discover the male anatomy like I did, I always told Yue that she stole my innocence but she did not care. It was all in the fun of it, I am sure she was just as embarrassed but she would never admit it." She smiled, her eyes drifting over to see the division which Mei had tried to climb over, she often wondered how she was. If she had grown into a woman or was still so much a child, would she still recognise her? Or had Sara changed too much.

She lifted her hand and moved her hair behind her fin, her scars were white now, like three bolts of lightning running down her face.

She looked over at Van and lifted her hand to rest it on her own, her fingers as cold as they normally were, someone so close to death always felt like a corpse, it was something Sara was used to know."Van there is something troubling you, I would really like to know what it is if you feel comfortable enough telling me. I probably will not be able to help however carrying the world on your shoulders will not do you any good. Besides, we are friends and I am worried about you." Her tone was gentle, as much so as she could possibly make it. Sara had a mothers voice in many ways, she might not be able to be intimidating or loud but she had a somewhat soothing aura around her. It was cold and thick and felt like death, however death was only slightly different from falling asleep.

While Van had always been good about concealing her emotions in public, the few who were close to her somehow always managed to figure out that something was amiss. After so many years of pushing others, away, it was interesting to note that this woman had yet to perfect her impassive expression. Little did she know that the presence of the emotion in her lilac eyes would result in more good than bad, today.

She knew that Sara was watching her—she could feel the other woman’s gaze fixated on her carefully neutral expression, disbelieving, knowing. Van reached one scaled hand up to her hair, toying with the locks absently as she avoided looking at the soul conduit. The Fighter didn’t trust herself not to betray her own emotions and her family’s new secret if she looked into Sara’s eyes, now. But could it really be called a betrayal if the information went into the ears of a listening friend?

Glad for the temporary distraction of Sara’s story, the dark-haired Lunarian allowed herself a small smile as the image of the three girls making mischief in the bathhouse was painted in her mind’s eye. She could just see the adolescent Yue spawning the inappropriate ideas while Sara did her best to hold them back. “That’s just like you three to get into that kind of situation,” she said finally, unable to stop the peals of bell-like laughter from ringing out. Her chuckles quickly subsided into silence again, though, as the thoughts she tried to keep in the back of her mind quickly caught up with her once again.

Van shivered, sinking a bit into the steaming water as Sara’s cold hand—so drastically different from their current environment—closed around hers. The Fighter finally raised her lilac eyes to meet Sara’s level gaze. For a few moments, Van wavered, deciding between changing the subject or admitting to the troubles that the conduit had so keenly noticed.

Finally, the Fighter exhaled, breaking eye contact as she lowered her gaze into the bubbling water. She was more clearly distraught now, and the expression had deepened across her face. “Sara… something terrible has happened in my family,” she murmured, her voice barely audible above the soft gurgle of the water. “The Nobles kidnapped my older brother out of our house. We haven’t been able to find him.”

She broke off, letting the words sink in as she continued staring into the water with a troubled expression on her face. There were so many things she could say, so many details to be explained about what had happened that night, so many ways in which she could display her frustration with the lack of information on her brother’s whereabouts… but the best Van could come up with was this. “I just don’t know what I can still do to find him… I couldn’t stop them, Sara. They abducted a Captain out of his own house.”

"Its different now, sometimes I wish we would have stayed in those moments. That laughter still came as easy and the world did not seem so serious." So much had happened since then, she had grown up and the three had grown apart. She knew Yue would always be there for her but at the same time, the two would never be as reliant on each other as they once were. After all Jianyu was not there to love her and support her. She was glad Van was here, even though she was not a replacement she was someone that Sara felt she could connect to. Someone who she could share her thoughts and memories with, in truth she respected and admired the lavender woman as much as she did Yue - even though she admired them both for different things.

"You know, I do not want to give you false hope but. I might be able to talk to some of the spirits around your home, if there was a strong enough connection for them to lead me in my sleep then I should be able to find them again. Besides, children are nosy. The disturbance might have claimed their interest."

The teal haired girl sugested, raising her tanned hand to rest it on the face of the pale skinned Lunarian. She almost looked as if moonlight was kissing her, nobody would doubt Van was lovely. She was a warrior by blood but still a girl by birth, her brother was missing and she knew that her emotions were more than just the shock of the event. She was worried about him because she loved him and that was something Sara could relate to. Her hand moved to the back of the girls head and she pulled her into a hug. Her free arm wrapping around her and holding her tight, but not too tightly. Sara was nothing if not gentle; in ever sense of the word.

Sometimes that is all that people really needed. Sara rested her head on her shoulder, ghostly eyes watching the mist rise from the waters. Van had been there for her and now she wanted to return the favor in the only way she knew how. To comfort her in the only way she could. "Van, I do not know if everything is going to be okay... but I sincerely hope it will be." Sara was not in the business of giving people false hope, numerous times she was expected to deliver unwanted news. She was not going to sugarcoat the situation but at the same time she wanted Van to know that she was here for her.

For as long as she needed her.

Try as she might to suppress it, Van could feel herself trembling under Sara’s gaze. This was not because the soul conduit was so intimidating, but more because the woman just realized that she had opened up to someone for the first time in... perhaps, ever? As soon as she finished talking, she remembered why this was so. Van always felt so vulnerable and naked (it didn’t help that she was actually naked in this case) when she was forced to talk about herself and what made her tick. The Legionnaire was much more comfortable deflecting the subject from herself in favor of talking about anything or anyone else.

Van smiled briefly when Sara made mention of the time she had wandered onto the Au family’s land those months ago, having been led there by the spirits. The moment was somber, but even the purple Lunarian could take a second to reflect on happier times. As the other woman continued to speak, Van began to see the sense in her proposition. She had not thought about enlisting the help of a soul conduit and the spirits—the ability to speak to souls was beyond her, after all, so it never crossed her mind. And here Sara was, offering the assistance and support that Van never knew she needed.

Before she could say anything, though, the Fighter was surprised by Sara’s sudden caress. Looking up again into the conduit’s pale eyes searchingly, Van slowly began to understand. Sara truly wasn’t in this for personal gain. She really, honestly cared about her, and it was now that the question of why the spirits had led Sara to Van in the first place began to be answered. These two women needed each other.

The dull ache in the pit of Van’s stomach lessened a bit as she realized this, and she closed her eyes, leaning into the one-armed hug gratefully. Trusting Sara had been the right decision. A few minutes passed before Van moved again, fluttering her lilac eyes open as a small, genuine smile flashed across her face. “Thanks, Sara,” she whispered. They were two simple words, but Van meant them.

Settling back up into a more properly seated position, the Fighter decided that it was time to change the subject. “I didn’t come here to be depressed,” she declared, a new determination evident in her eyes even as she pulled her dark hair over one shoulder, “Tell me all about what’s new with you!”
PostPosted: Wed Dec 21, 2011 5:54 pm

Sara leaned back in the spot she was before, stretching her arms across the edge of the pool and breathing in the steam, she had forgotten how much she loved this place. It was doing wonders for all her aches and paint, not that she had it hard but... who did not like to just 'chill' every so often. "Anytime, Van." Her tone was soft, her eyes observing the ripples of the water as their bodies moved around, she really did not need thanks, after all what she offered was nothing that Van would not do herself - if she was capable. She was just returning the favor.

When asked what had been going on in her own life the conduit put a finger on her chin, as if she was in thought. What had she been up to? "Nothing much, my life is not really that interesting. I mean, Yue is getting married and I spend most of my time in the temple training." The spirits had taken over her life in more ways than one, now that her relationship with them was getting stronger she found herself meditating most days or locked in her study reading journals by previous priests. She had even been trusted to take care of a few students and had been given an assistant, she did not like asking her to do things but she seemed nice enough. I guess that meant she was heading up in the world. Truth be told she thought it would be easier once she graduated, but... she was wrong.

She then tried to think of things not conduit related, who wanted to talk about work on their day off? She did not want to bore Van with such tales. "I have moved into my own little place and I am trying to strengthen my connections with my friends. Sometimes I feel like I get too caught up in my studies, that people feel like I am ignoring them." It was one of her greatest fears, loosing her friends, all of a sudden living people had taken an interest in her and she had formed bonds that meant a lot of her. She did not want to end up like Mizuki, on her own in the middle of nowhere, with only the dead for company.

Her facial expression soften after the thought had passed, no way was she ever going to end up like that, at least he hoped she didn't. "In-fact it seems like quite a bit is going on... Now I am listing everything like that." She chuckled rather nervously. Truth was, not ever she knew what was going on in her life, it was as chaotic and ever changing as it always had been. Sometimes she wished it would just stop, and stretch out moments like this. "Your right, well, I will come back home with you tonight to see what I can find out. For now, lets just relax. We can head to my favorite little perfume shop on the way back, and I can buy us a cup of rose tea each from the corner stall." She ran through her plans in her head, but then realized she might have been getting ahead of herself. She brushed and pushed her fingers together, sinking a little deeper into the water. "That is, if you want to." She added on the end in a quieter tone.

... Van was so cool.

Van followed suit as she heard Sara take a deep breath. This was truly what she needed, a day of relaxation after all of the decidedly non-relaxing things that had been happening in her life. She had already mentioned to Sara the main gist of the stressors on her mind, so all there was left to talk about were the good things. At least, this was Van’s excuse for pushing everything else aside. For someone who dealt with dead souls all the time, Sara was very comforting to the fighter.

She smiled gently, playing with the ripples in the steaming water as she listened to the other woman go on something of a stream of consciousness about her everyday activities. Unlike whatever the conduit was thinking about her routine being boring, it was very much the contrary to Van. Whatever progress the fighter had made on becoming more sociable, it was always easier for her to just sit back and listen to whatever someone else had to say. That it was Sara made it all the more enjoyable.

“Have you?” Van interjected as Sara made mention of moving into a new place, “I’ve been planning on moving out, too. I think I’m done with living in the rainforest for a while. Not much good comes of it, y’know.” That much was true. It had always been so difficult living secluded from everyone else because of her father’s covert operations with the Legion. Van was a full-fledged fighter now, and was ready to move onto the next chapter of her life in all aspects.

The purple Lunarian shook her head slightly at Sara’s worries. She found them absolutely ungrounded. “We are all passionate about something, but I don’t think it’s possible for you to forget about your friends. You are a very kind woman,” she said candidly, leaning back against the edge of the springs.

There was absolutely no doubt Sara had matured by leaps and bounds since their last meeting, but it was now that Van saw a little bit of the old Sara emerging, with her nervous and unsure chuckle. Here was Van’s responsibility to make sure the other woman had no reason to doubt herself. Placing one manicured hand on the conduit’s shoulder, gently so as not to scare her, Van smiled to allay her doubts. “That sounds lovely, Sara. I think that is a great plan for tonight.”
