As students leave the Amityville Academy campus, a bright orange and green sign proclaims: sign OBSTACLE COURSE 1KM ---->
Stop being such a jacking wuss and prove yourself. Win prizes and the admiration of your peers!
Those who choose to follow the path of challenge and glory are treated to the sight of a pristine green field, covered in various hurdles, hoops, and even a small lake. The familiar face of Hexidecimal greets them with a look of rather pained conflict, "Um...this is...you need to sign this form first. It's not that this is dangerous or anything. Lawyers...you know... yeah. Please?"

THE OOC THE RULES 1. This is RP mandatory, so if you roll, be sure to have or edit in RP text. No posting with just rolls (unless you made a mistake and had to re-roll) 2. Do not delete posts. The log will be checked periodically, and anyone found deleting posts will be banned from the minis guild. 3. Only one try per day. 4. Since this occurs off campus, this is open to both students and quest students. These RPs will be considered shop canon, so be sure to pay attention to the IC rules as well. 5. You may RP going through this with other characters. But keep in mind that friends can both help and hinder you. If your character has a partner or is in a group, your rolls will needed to be added and averaged together to determine the group's success. Group Roll = the added total of the group's rolls in a round divided by the number of students in the group. 6. This will be up for at least one month.

Stage 0 As you hand the signed paper over, Hex looks over it nervously, "Looks um...good. Good job! Here's a participation sticker..." You take it and place it somewhere you deem appropriate (or maybe not so much) and suddenly a quick wave of vertigo hits you. "Don't panic! It's just...we want to make sure everything's fair, you know? So your natural abilities are locked down, but don't worry! Really! All you have to do is make it the finish and it'll disappear on it's own! So just...try hard!" He pauses, "It'll also go away if you get KO'd and dissipate..." the squirelly young man looks away from you, "Not that that'll happen...heh." Another pause. "Oh and um...if you have wings hidden anywhere on you? Um.... try not to fly. There's gnomes with sniper rifles. We didn't even have to ask them...they just sort of... arrived...and stayed." With this reassuring information hanging in the air, he directs you to the start of the course with a lame thumbs-up and wave.

Stage 1 Taking three steps beyond the starting line you realize that your had been somewhat mislead as to the nature of this obstacle course. There was fire. Fire everywhere. Fire forever. Looking behind you...yes, a wall of fire behind you. Oh and now it's moving toward you, how quaint. And if you happen to linger to long in one place? Rifle shots ring out, missing you by mere inches. Small voices in the distance can be heard laughing and jeering you on. "Move it, Princess Glitterpants!" "Get 'er done!" "You sure do got a purty mouth..." Yeah...it's time to run. The first obstacle come closer and those hurdles you saw earlier...? ...yeah. Those are on fire now, too.The OOC Roll 1 100-sided die. If you roll 30 or above, your character somehow manages to get through the hurdles and move onto the next obstacle. Anything less, and lack of skill, bad luck, or shenanigans have caused them to get KO'd and dissipate. Student's will reform at the nearest infirmary, those not enrolled in the academy will respawn in the scareling's ward at the nearest FEAR clinic.

Stage 2 And now for the hoops... If you even look like you're thinking of walking around them, bullets begin hitting the ground at your feet, the shouts of the gnomes growing louder. "Get a move on, Prom Date!" Didn't you once see something like this at the circus? The OOC Roll 1 100-sided die. If you roll 40 or above, your character somehow manages to get through the hoops and move onto the next obstacle. Anything less, and lack of skill, bad luck, or shenanigans have caused them to get KO'd and dissipate. Stage 3 The first two obstacles were unpleasant, to say the least, but the next one...the next one is simply weird and slightly twisted. Dozens of bomb minipets are tethered to poles, with just enough slack to swing and fly about randomly, occasionally running into objects or each other, and doing what bombs do: exploding on contact with a gleefully bright (and dangerous) burst. You may never want to see another bomb pet after this, or maybe you'll want an army. Either way: you'll never look at them in quite the same way again. The OOC Roll 1 100-sided die. If you roll 50 or above, your character somehow manages to get through the bombs and move onto the next obstacle. Anything less, and lack of skill, bad luck, or shenanigans have caused them to get KO'd and dissipate. Student's will reform at the nearest infirmary, those not enrolled in the academy will respawn in the scareling's ward at the nearest FEAR clinic.

Stage 4 The finish is within sight, you just have to get past... the lake. But what was once a pristine lake of cool and inviting water was now a burning lake of FIRE. Well... lava to be exact. A set of stepping stones cross the lake, and all you have to do is hop across without falling in. You may be a fire elemental, you may eat lava with your Croak-co Puffs every morning, you may see the lava and smirk to yourself, thinking, "No big, I got this in the bag." And then something leaps out of the water. And several somethings follow, in a lovely display of... ...flaming piranha skitters. The OOC Roll 1 100-sided die. If you roll 50 or above, your character somehow manages to get through the lava and move onto the finish. Anything less, and lack of skill, bad luck, or shenanigans have caused them to get KO'd and dissipate. Stage Final Finally, after hellish (in the most literal sense) trials and tribulations, you stagger out of the inferno and over the finish line. And who awaits you there but the notorious Noxious Firth. He smirks at you and says... If your Average Score was 40-75 "...not bad but...not really good either. I mean you didn't die? But if you want to run with Halloween's elite forces, you'll have to toughen up. Not even the Boogeymen would take you if you stay like this." Seeing the look on your face, he rummages through his jacket pockets and hands it to you, "Now don't be upset, failbait, here have a... thing." He hands you one of these three minipets: ((You may pick one of these three.)) If your Average Score was 76-90 "...not bad, but there's still a lot of room for improvement. The potential's there, just not realized. You're gonna have to work on it." Reaching inside a large metal box, he carefully lifts out a lantern and offers it to you. "These guys can be a bit hard to handle, but I think you may enjoy the resulting minipet. Remember not to use it wisely, and be creative." He pauses, "Also, I never gave you this, understand?" "Or if that's not your thing," he added scornfully, "I have some of these things too if they're more your... thing." ((You may pick one of these twelve.)) If your Average Score was 91-100 " ...jack-freakin-tastic. I think you've got the moves to really go somewhere in life, kid. Have you considered joining the Trick or Treater Coalition after graduating?" He looms in close, "Well think about it, because I'll be watching you. If you ever need a favour? Come find me, and maybe we'll be able to work something out. In the meantime, here' a little something to watch over you." He hands you one of two identical pumpkins, and you have a feeling that if you don't take it with you, it'll just follow you home. ((You may pick between Recruiter-tan and Hexi-tan)) The OOC Your Average Score, is the total of all your (valid) rolls for a run through the course, divided by 4. Those who got through the course with a group will need to total their individual scores for this. Your friends may have gotten you through it, but Nox will be rewarding for individual merit. If you have a score of less than 50, then he just sends you off with an insult and a pinkie wave. If you won a pet, please PM this form to lizbot: Hello, I'm Addicted to Winning!

Ru harumphed at the challenged, hardly waiting for the paper dock to sign her name away and stuffing the sticker on her face. The others in the area would get the feeling that giving the troll stickers was generally a bad idea... Unless there was a prank in mind. She almost lost her feet, when the sticker took to it's effects, suddenly finding herself no better than the average monster... Or worse... One of those fear-mongering human wretches... Only better looking.
She shook her head snorting, and started out towards the first challenge. "I hafta jump sticks? Pfft! No prob-" The troll gave a ghoulish shriek when she noted the wall of flames behind and the bullets barely missing her toes, glaring at the gnomes and their jibes.
"I WANT MINE EXTRA CRISPY! STAND THERE A LITTLE LONGER!" Snorts and cackles shaded the air after that.
The sounds the gnomes barked came to a screeching halt when the troll didn't move, crossing her arms and just standing there until she could feel the flames singing her hair and curling the leather vest, sticking her tongue out at them. They couldn't figure out whether the troll was just obedient to a fault or stupid...
With a snarky harumph at the creatures, Ru took off, long legs and frame giving her a speed advantage as she properly leaped each of the hurdles, nearly running into the one after one she'd just jumped, and somehow clearing the whole set of three flaming hurdles with her leg hairs... Well, actually, they'd all been singed real short, and the tips of the fur on her boots had blackened a little, but she was unscathed.

(I'm not sure, so I'm gonna go on the basis that it's an average score of 40 required here, and say I missed. It's not really clear as to whether the roll over X should be the individual dice, the total, or the average of the rolls, so... If I'm wrong, I'll roll again later. ^-^)
Ru snickered at the gnomes as they found new targets to harass, almost disappointed when the heckling stopped. A shot disturbing the dirt just close to one toe sent that disappointment scrambling and, with a smile, the troll literally skipped to the next part of the course.
It was a shorter walk than it'd seemed. Ru just barely managed to get through the first hoop... then faceplanted through the next to and wound up stuck in the rings until her form evaporated, heading to whatever Fear clinic was nearest.

Ash took the innocuous looking sticker, placing it on his skull pocket watch. The second it latched onto the metal, a feeling of emptiness curled through his belly, and he sharply turned his pyramid-clad head towards the Recruiter. His movements were slowed, the preternatural power of his race slithering away at a rapid pace/
He listened to the Recruiter's spiel, lips pursed. He had never contemplated it before, but he was now glad to not have wings. The gnomes were both irritating as well as a little terrifying. Not that you heard him say such a thing, of course.
With his FEAR on lockdown, his trusty blade sat heavy on his back, and his helm dug uncomfortably into his shoulders. "Damn this all to Christmastown," he muttered, trying to keep his balance before heading to the course. It took two steps for him to topple, his immaculate white gloves now covered in dirt from catching himself from the fall.
"Straight to Christmastown." With a mournful groan, Ashford slipped out of his helm, and undid the holster he wore for it.
It felt dead in his hand, and that alone was enough to almost make him feel ill. Whatever. The guy had said it would just be until this was over, and there was no way they'd let it stay permanent. He'd just have to deal with it.
It took a few minutes, but Ash was able to drag his helm and blade off to somewhere safe, and cornered a gnome to ask, very nicely, if they would keep an eye on it. It may or may not have ended with a bribe in candy, and possibly a promise for a favor, but nonetheless, his precious gear was safe, and he was free to enter the Trial.
No wonder the gnome had been so adamant for upfront payment-- flames licked at the sky around him and seemingly all around him. Ash approached the hurdles as fast as he could, hoping to god his towering height meant he'd be able to get through them...

"Unholy hell, was that close!" Ash didn't even care that he was talking to himself, because he was too busy stamping on the trail ends of his nice slacks, which were now far too singed to be appropriate. But, he'd made it!
He turned the corner, and stared, slack jaw, at the next obstacle. Seriously? What was he, some sort of circus animal? Could he even fit into such hoops? Well, whatever.
Deep breathes, Ashford. Trials and tribulations and all that, blah blah blah. He took off running...
