She had seen this boy before, and liked the way he played. He was a musician, or something like it, as she often saw him around her usual prowling places: bars, alleys. Performers often came out the back doors, as the drunks did, so she had some experience with them by now. The alleys were fun places to test traps and gizmos, after all, and nothing was better than a drunk civilian to play with.
So she kept her eye out on the other happenings, to make sure she was not surprised or someone sober didn't call the cops on her. She had seen, or even hid from, this blue haired boy at least once before. He had great hair.
But if she liked playing with the drunks outside the bar, what would it be like to play inside? She had to imagine rigging a trap for a whole bar of people listening to a band play, with some inside help from said performers, to make the ultimate energy draining scheme. Bar based scheme, at least.
More than all that, though, and her own selfish reasons aside, she had seen something in him. A chance sighting while she had been walking home from her literal day job. The boy and a senshi, not getting along. There was something specific, something that drew her attention to the young man.
She wanted to test him. Make him an offer, and dare him to refuse. If he did, then he clearly was not the guy she thought. And he would donate his energy to her in exchange.

It had been an interesting few days. Almost getting his a** kicked by a monster, AND the a** winged costumed dude who was supposed to save him, having that experience with that one military suited chick who'd most definately made him tired not just by choking him, and the whole thing with Odette. Merric ran a hand through his blue hair, pulling at the hair gel that was still stuck in some of the pieces. He just wanted to get on the back of his bike, go off towards Greg's house and spend th rest of the evening getting his a** kicked in Halo.
The bass player left the bar, helmet under his arm and made his way to his bike. He rested the helmet on the dash and let his silver eyes look around as he pulled on his driving gloves.
That was when he saw her. She looked like she could be at some kind of steampunk convention, but with a military flare. He frowned a the woman, eyeing her over before fishing for his keys.
"Waiting for someone, Ms.? All of the band has gone home by now, save me. Unless you're waiting for someone in the stage crew," he said to her offhandedly. He wasn't just going to leave her there, at least, not if she was just gunna stay alone. It was the gentlemanly thing to do.

Painite gave him a very pleasant smile, not calling her weapon or doing anything particularly threatening. She was not the tallest person around, after all, and even with her strange outfit, she didn't scream 'villainous mastermind'.
"I was waiting for you, actually," she intoned, her voice ringing sweetly with her British accent. She moved toward him, looking him over pointedly. But it wasn't a distinctly flirtatious look. No, it looked like she was checking for something.
At least no disappointment flashed over her face.
"You look like a young man who has had some trouble recently," he didn't: she was just using what she had already witnessed to her advantage. But how would he know that? "Let me guess. You've had some run ins with those pesky terrorists, haven't you?"
She leaned languidly on his bike, not intending to let him drive out of there. Her bright, sea green eyes were fixed on his face.

He raised a brow at her, frowning. She'd been waiting for him? He looked down at her, blinking at how short she really was. She leaned on his bike like it was something she regularly did.
"If your a fan then--- wait terrorists? Those costume suited, a** winged ones? Yeah I've had some issues with them. One dude almost left me for the monster thing that was trying to take my head off," he said to her, grimacing at the memory. He glanced around before looking back at her.
"Why do you ask, Ms?"

"Because," she said softly, but she stopped.
She smiled at him, still very languidly leaning on the bike and watching him with her bright eyes. She moved eventually, walking around the bike to be near him now. Her expression was disarming, but there was something in the way she moved, a confidence, that spoke of a lot more than she was letting on.
"I think I can help you with that problem. That boy, the one that almost let you get killed, I can give you the power and the opportunity to get back at him. At all of them. I can teach you what they are, and you can fight with us to remove them from our planet. They're alien vermin, with or without their a** wings."
Close to him now, she kept her gaze steady and her voice even, smooth, accented in its charmingly British way.

"Does it include a** wings? I won't do a** wings," he said, weighing her offer in her mind. They were aliens... weren't they? They weren't doing any good on the planet anyway. He'd only encountered one of the teorists, but they didn't seem like a good group anyway.
He looked down at her, gears turning in his head. "If I do this... what do I need to do?" he said to her. He had his reservations about the whole thing... but if he could kick a** Wings' butt for almost getting him killed... and it would stop all the crazies...
Plus he was finding he couldn't really say no.

Painite shook her head daintily, smiling at him in a deceptively pleasant way. It wasn't danger that lurked in her expression, but rather a calm kind of confidence. She already knew he would agree.
Not that she really needed him to, as far as she was concerned, but it was always better that way. Or so she assumed. She had never done this before, though she had seen it down. Lead by example, learn by doing, and all that. She really only had one way to really practice.
And Merric had the honor of being the first.
"No asswings, and all you have to do is relax and trust me. Once this step is done, I'll tell you what you need to know."
She took that as her cue, thinking it sounded sufficiently menacing and promising at once, and if this were a movie then it would be the time the villain moved as well. She reached for his chest, into his chest, her fingers carefully wrapping around his starseed. She focused, pouring the chaos that fueled her, that made the Negaverse thrive, into the seed in order to corrupt it.
Too much, she remembered, and she would have a youma on her hand. Literally, it seemed, though now was not the time for her to be making mental jokes about having her hand in someone's chest. She would have to be careful of that youma thing.

He wasn't expecting her to reach into his chest. What the hell?! Merric was suddenly aware of her hand wrapped around something in his chest, something he wasn't even aware that had been there. His body shuddered as the chaos poured into his star seed, but it didn't seem like an obtrusive thing. Just replacing something that had been there with a better power.
Though Merric was still panicking about hand in his chest, and didn't really notice it until the chaos surged through the rest of his body, seemingly burning out everything that could possibly have become something with butt wings. He clenched his jaw, his fists, and prayed to whatever deity he could think of that he would not scream, that he would not cry.
He had a feeling weakness was not an option with this.

Painite kept her bright, clear eyes on him now as she focused on the job she was performing. She felt a thrill moving through her as she watched, knowing that what she was doing here was for the betterment of their cause, and that this young man would be the future of the Negaverse. That, in turn, he would eventually be doing the same thing, and their strength would continue to grow.
It was exciting, and she knew she was not doing this for herself. Sure, she loved the idea that she had so much power over someone else, that she could make a Lieutenant where one hadn't been before, but that was just the ambitious, show-offy side of her talking.
And this was also about the boy she was corrupting.
In him she saw a spark of something useful. Maybe she couldn't put it in words, but she saw in him the same thing she saw in her Lieutenants, the young Negas she was training and tending. She believed they held in them so much potential, and she would tap it, bring it forward, and help them as they sought to become the best they could be.
Like she was doing.
She released his starseed when she was certain she had succeeded in her goal: no youma was going to be made tonight.

He shuddered once again as her hand left his chest and he doubled over panting. Large headphones slid heavily onto his neck, and he shifted them when they pulled on hair. The steel toes of his boots gleamed in the light of the... wait. Steeled toed... knee high boots? The young man blinked and stood back up, looking at himself. Long coat, high boots, multiple belts and a cuff on his arm bearing a diamond shape. Also, sexy black undershirt.
He looked at Painite and immediately bowed to her. "Ma'am... Jarosite, reporting for duty," he said, his bass filled voice flowing like honey. Okay now that was odd. He straightened up. He opened a clenched fist and blinked at the pair of oversized picks that sat in them. He chuckled.
Someone knew him a little too well it seemed.

Painite watched him, letting relief flash over her face for a brief moment. She had done it! Her first attempt to corrupt someone, and it had worked. She looked at him, nodding her head in approval of his new outfit.
Very cool.
"General Painite," she said, nodding her head politely when he bowed to her. Polite as well? She had made a good pick here, she could see that easily. "Welcome to the Negaverse, Lieutenant Jarosite. You have just entered a whole new world, and there are no mermaids here. Just strong warriors, like you will be, and people who are dedicated to erradicating the senshi and reclaiming this planet."
She would explain everything to him, in time, and knew he would learn everything he needed to in the course of his working with them. And he certainly had a lot of help available to him, with all the other members of the Negaverse around.

"A pleasure, General. I hope to do my very best to send the senshi - is that what they are called? - back from wence they came, ma'am," he said formally. He certainly knew his role much better than he thought. Jarosite rolled his shoulders, enjoying the power that coursed through him. His eyes had been opened up to something much bigger than himself, and he was ready to follow orders.
A part of him wondered, off handedly, exactly when he'd have time to do this. Eh, he'd fit it in. Somehow. He always managed to. He looked at Painite, his General.
"What should I do now?" he asked. He was taking this too calmly. Shock, definately shock.

"Senshi, indeed. There are others, as well. Knights. You'll meet them, and you'll know them. I'm sure you can feel my energy, something strange in the air? Senshi feel the complete opposite, and knights somewhere in between. Pay attention to the auras around you: the stronger they are, the more danger you could be in."
Lesson number one, it seemed. She couldn't help herself, but she knew he had been through a lot, just being corrupted.
"For tonight, you should go home and rest. Let everything settle. Tomorrow night, we'll meet up, and I will show you the basics, and maybe we'll find us a senshi or a knight to really initiate you into all this. When you want to return to your civilian identity, always make sure no one else is around to see you. Check your auras, once again. When you're in the clear, just focus on yourself and..." she powered down as if to show him, smiling at him brightly.
"Easy as that." She never worried too much about sharing her identity with other Negas.

He could sense her, a much more imposing power than himself. Jarosite nodded as she spoke, making a mental note not to do anything tomorrow evening. Rest... that sounded amazing right now. His stomach was starting to hurt something vile and he felt drained as all get out. He'd remember about the energy signatures; it wasn't hard not to at the moment.
And focus on himself? Focus.. Merric felt "Jarosite" slip away from him and he was left in the cloths he'd left the bar in. It was an incredibly odd feeling, and at once he couldn't sense a thing. Did that mean others could'nt sense him (as he assumed he'd be sensed too) as well now? He'd have to remember that in the future.
Merric nodded at the woman who was Painite. "Where should I meet you tomorrow night then?"

Gently looked thoughtful, then glanced around.
"Here is fine. On the roof of the bar. That okay for you?" She imagined it would be just fine, as she wasn't exactly going to take no for an answer. She smiled happily though, feeling confident and totally jazzed. Unlike he was feeling, she felt like she had energy to spare.
She wanted to go out there and do something else, and continue this night of awesomeness. But she kept all that hidden inside. For the most part. Her light green eyes were shining with excitement.
"Same time, same place. Always the easiest, I find. Gently Ponsonby, by the way. Feel free to call me if you ever need help. And when you're powered up, you have a crystal that you can contact other Negaverse agents with when you need help. I'll show you that tomorrow. Now, go home. You're going to have a big night tomorrow."
She grinned at him, patting him on the shoulder. She was compelled to hug him, as she was a hugger, but she didn't think that was very becoming of a first impression for the General, and she had done pretty well so far being level and cool.
