Recently, the discovery that round rolling things was fun had been discovered by Tomoko. It wasn't really the most..interesting thing in the world, but there was something about it that had all her attention. However, after a near-accident involving her ball of stars, she'd discovered that rolling it around wasn't exactly the safest of options either.
Which was why the kitsune had forced herself to leave the ball of stars in her room when she'd left to go on her 'finding something to roll around' adventure that day. It was probably an odd sight for those familiar with her little blonde tuff of hair for her to be without it. She looked like she was going through utter withdrawl from it too.
Her fingers were twitching and she just seemed anxious. Oh Jack, what if something was happening to it right now? Something bad? What if it broke and everything was ruined forever? What if, what if, what if, what if??
Tomoko had nearly worked herself up into a tizzy by the time she'd gotten down the path from the demon dorm's, making a sort of pathetic chirping noise as she wrung her braid anxiously. Going to prom had been bad enough, but now she was going into like..
TOWN
without her ball of stars.
That was, if she could get there without completely destroying herself from fretting. Likelihood? Not very high.

Vaith was finally getting how to navigate the town. The route he knew most of all? Escaping school to town. His plans today was to originally buy several items for his dorm.. That was his plan before he saw a familiar braided female of an incredibly familiar short stature---Red eyes widened slightly as he gazed out onto the road, the markings on his coat gathering in their general direction of the demoness. She sounded like she was dying. Just a little bit. Not in a flashy flamboyant out-with-a-bang sort of way but in a way that was like a bird that had fallen out of it's nest. The image of Tomoko as a bird bought a chuckle to his lips, stifled by the brush of his knuckles against his mouth to mask his not-so-polite manner of amusement.
Oh. Those ears. It never failed.
"Yo, Tomoko. You look like hell." Vaith's hands had reached immediately to tug on Tomoko's ears gently, leaning low to hover over Tomoko. She was adorable in a little bird-y kind of way. Sort of like a wishing floresce staring at stars instead.

It was sort of fitting how Tomoko's ears fell right into the trap of Vaith's fingers, perking up at the sound of her name just to be grabbed up in a moment. Sadly, it was a trait that reflected directly into the kitsune's nature altogether - she was far too easy to catch. Well, unless it was capturing her in a...yeah.
She was just so innocent and trusting. Someday she'd be broken and it wouldn't happen with nearly as much ease ever again.
A small delicate frown creased over her features as she looked at the familiar face of the reaper who had called out to her, beginning to wring her braid just a bit more anxiously. A more apt observation had never been made before; Tomoko indeed looked like hell. Or at least like she'd been through it.
"i-I'm sorry...I can't help it...I left my ball of stars unattended to come to town and now I can't help but keep worrying about it andsomethingcouldbehapeningtoitrightnowandI'mnotheretowatchitanditwillbebrokenforeveran-" she started working herself up into a tizzy of concern, prompting another pathetic mewling sound.
She continued to wrap the braid around itself all the while, eventually her own eyes darting up to look at Vaith anxiously; "What are you doing out here today?" she asked, probably hoping it would change the discussion from her own pathetic worries.

Vaith watched Tomoko, reflecting that her anxiety was contagious. Just a tiny bit---His tugging increased, although staying consistent in pressure. He wasn't looking to give Tomoko an ear ache for the next day or so-- Just to satisfy his curiosity.
Tugtugtugtugtug.
So this was about her ball of stars, huh? That lovely ball. Hm. No wonder she was worried about it. Given the chance, Vaith would take it .. temporarily. He was half-afraid that taking it for any longer than five minutes might kill the poor demoness.
Tugtugtug.
"I ammmmmm.." He paused, the word stretching with a hesitant note, as he pondered what he was going to do. "..mmmm going to go take you out somewhere fun! So you don't worry about your gorgeous ball of stars. You left it somewhere safe, right Tomoko? As long as you hid it under your bed or something." Vaith's fingers reluctantly let go of Tomoko's ears, nudging the demoness in the general direction of the scarecade instead.
He remembered a bowling alley near the scarecade.
(The tugging stopped.)

Keeping it from Tomoko for more than 5 seconds might have resulted in frantic and desperate mauling from the kitsune, rather than her own death. Though losing it probably would have resulted in a deadpan and lack of vigor in Tomoko that would have been just as close. So perhaps it was safer to let her keep it.
Or earn her trust so she'd just relinquish it for momentary purposes out of awkward trust.
Though it was fortunate she didn't whine too much on the front of her poor ears, as harassed as they were. Poor poor ears. Victim of all the curious fingers going on. Never not a victim.
However, Vaith's answer to the kitsune's inquiry caused her to look up at him, seeming curious. To anybody else, it may have sounded as though the reaper had stalked her there for that sole purpose. Possibly. But really, Tomoko the all too trusting never even had the idea jokingly throw itself into her mind. Someone would take advantage of that naivete someday.
"It's...." she paused, pursing her lips just a little bit. "Mostly safe as long as the Bakekitsunes don't try to play with it...." she didn't sound too distressed about that idea. But none the less, she was open to the nudge she was given, walking in the hinted direction without much goading required.
"Where are we going then?"

A desperate mauling from Tomoko might have killed the poor reaper, both physically and mentally, in a shocking manner.
Was Vaith stalkerish? Vaith probably would have admitted that it had sounded like so but intention was what mattered in the end. Besides, who cared how it sounded or looked? It wasn't as if Vaith's range of friends would be widening anytime soon.
Besides, if they were real friends, they would have taken the lame reaper how he was. He didnt want to change. They shouldn't want him to change either. So his excuse went, sneaking a glance at the demoness's small frame. He wondered if all kitsunes were like her .. Well, naturally, their personalities .. probably not.
"You'll see. Are all kitsunes like you? With starry balls and ears and a tail?" Vaith answered evasively, slowing his long legs to walk side-by-side with the kitsune, his cape trailing behind him. The cape was a little lame-- just like the lame reaper!
When his and his familiar were arguing, they were a lame pair.

Frankly, Tomoko thought the cape was awesome in her opinion. How else would he have been able to bribe off her 'leave my ears alone' request with it? She probably would have been humming bad superhero music while wearing it as well.
However, that wasn't her current thought, instead she looked up at Vaith, frowning lightly and shaking her head. "No. A...." she paused, wringing her hands together. "The Ball of Stars is something only some kitsunes possess...if they..." her ears drooped and she frowned lightly. "If they're not really good at magic by themselves...." She seemed ashamed to admit that it was a crutch for her magical ability. Remi didn't have one. Her younger siblings didn't have them either.
In fact, Tomoko was rather convinced she was the only one in her clan to have one at that point. But still, she held onto it...just to be safe. Her security blanket of failure.
"But it is not unusual for a Kitsune to gain more than one tail. In fact, it would be more unusual to meet one who is from a clan where tails are not a symbol of strength and ability." she explained with a light nod, though she began to wring her skirt, still seeming all sorts of levels of anxious.

"Oh, so thats how it works." Vaith remarked, idly, as he heard her very low and almost inaudible tone. He walked, without any more questions, until they approached a sign with multiple skulls over it.
"We're here!"
Eagerly, Vaith led the kitsune inside to reveal .. A large room with vertical glossy floors and rounded skulls for bowling. He opened his arms with a flourish, pointing towards the snacks stand and the bowling alley. "Looklook, Tomoko! It's perfect. You can roll balls all you want here."
Perhaps, that would distract her from her missing crystal of stars!

Tomoko was more than happy to walk along with Vaith! Even with his lame cape that she thought was awesome. She looked at the sign as they approached it, her ears perking up out of curiosity of what it was she was going to be seeing. Would it be amazing? She sort of hoped it would be, to be honest. Still, the reaper's enthusiasm was enough to get her cheering up and being less anxious.
Once inside, the kitsune did a once-around spin to look at everything, seeming enamoured by the entire get up. Yes, it was just bowling, and get it seemed to be just perfect in her mind. Things were shiny and there were spherical objects for her to fuss over without worrying that she might break them and then be without them.
Though she'd probably have to pay a fine for breaking them here.
"Ooooohh! This looks fun, Vaith!" she grinned widely, almost seeming to be giddy.

"My treat. Pick anything you want." Vaith pointed towards the gaming section, the scarealley and the food stand. Turning slightly to the side, he was busy looking over balls, his red eyes focused intensely on a stack of balls that seemed too small for him. It actually was the smaller sized balls. That Vaith wasn't going to be using. He picked them up, one by one, testing the weight. They all looked the same so it was a rather uneventful process .. Until Vaith took out a erasable marker.
HE PICKED ONE. IT WAS PERFECT.
And started drawing. On a ball.
"This is your ball, Tomoko. Well not yours forever but for now. It's really light and comfortable." He lifted it to hand to the ghoul, apparently having some experience in these sort of matters. On closer inspection, the ghoul would see a very familiar pattern that represented something she owned dearly.
Along with a sloppy handwriting that could only be found writing on a spherical surface and his hand jerked a few times. it said: Tomoko. Except the ball made it look a little bit like "Totoro," from the smears.

Tomoko looked at all of her options, seeming to not even know where to begin on looking at all of the things available. It was probably obvious from her excitement she'd actually never been bowling or anything like it, as really it wasn't half as exciting as the kitsune made it out to be. Or maybe it was and she was just the only person privvy to that particular secret. It would remain a mystery.
Though it was probably the reason why she was getting weird looks from strangers. SHE REGRETTED NOTHING!!
At least it meant she wasn't ruining the surprise when Vaith got to his secret task, only looking over when he offered the ball to her, giving it a curious look and holding it up with a sort of awed expression. It was indeed patterned after her ball back in her room. Though it was probably fortunate that Tomoko didn't immediately fuss over the fact that he knew the pattern on it well enough to redraw it.
It probably wasn't that hard to remember that it swirled in pattern.
Then came the noise.
It was a rather high pitched noise, probably something related to glee, which was accompanied by the kitsune pouncing upon the reaper with a massive hug around the neck, still somehow managing to balance the 'temp' ball of stars in her hands. Then again, she'd done it with the real one too, so it was probably out of habit that she managed it at all.
"THaaannnkkk yoooouuuuu~~~"

demon_pachabel we can end this soon if you want it toooo, IDK WHAT TO DO NEXT EXCEPT: THE END, TOMOKO STAR BALL VERSION 2 HAD TO BE RETURNED. Every second was precious. That meant the one second Tomoko took the ball.. Waiting in anticipation. Then she stared at the ball, holding it up. He was waiting for a reaction .. He wasn't sure what reaction. That was a couple of seconds of nothing. That was no fun. He frowned in disappointment when there was no reaction-- and he frowned even more so when there was one, the kitsune squealing his eardrums off. He was thrown off, literally and physically, as the kitsune gave him the hug of the century.
HE DEFINITELY HADNT BEEN EXPECTING THAT.
"Y-Youre welcome. Just deal with that ball until you get back, ok?" Vaith murmured, looking at his erasable marker in wonder. This marker was special-- From now on, Vaith was gonna dub it to the "Tomoko Star Marker."
Original name, yes!
"You can play and still have fun this way." Vaith pointed out, gesturing to the alley for them to sign up for an aisle and play to their heart's content. THe pins would literally be seeing stars headed their way.
