I'd like to know what kind of French Horn you have (if you do have one) and how much it was. I am trying to get a job so that I can get one.

If your serious and willing to splurge, I have an Alexander 1103. It is a gorgeous horn worth about $10,000 new. Used you could probably find one for 7000$. Schmids and Louis horns are gorgeous horns too and run around the same price too. With these horns you have to sign up for a wait list which is about 2 years if you want to get the horn new. However about the wait list time is about the time you'll need to save up for that horn! So if you get on the wait list now, by the time its up you'll have enough money! you can always take your name off the wait list too.
If you'd like a cheaper horn I'd aim for a Yamaha 668. That's about 2000

I don't have a job yet, so I think if I could find one paying minimum wage, I could get it if I saved up. Thanks!

Go to your closest music store and tell them you are looking for a step up horn, bring the mouthpiece you are gonna use with the horn.

NeoRaptor99 Go to your closest music store and tell them you are looking for a step up horn, bring the mouthpiece you are gonna use with the horn. generally don't ever use the mouth piece that comes with the horn. Its usually junk just FYI here's a great site for buying used horns, cases, mutes, ect..... everything and anything

Not the compensating double oh and also, conn 8D's are garbage. There are some really nice expensive ones that play gorgeously, but the cheap ones are junk. Its generally hit or miss with them, and its mostly a miss. Generally the good Conns are Elkart models

Another question: If I'm in the market for a mouthpiece, what would be a good option?

Do a blind test, get a bunch of mouthpieces put on a blind fold and choose at random than once you have tested them all you choose the one you like best.
