The day had started much like any other day at the academy. Classes in the morning, lunch, afternoon classes, followed by a nice walk in the woods. Jove found that was one of the best ways to relax and mull over the day's new information, out walking with the smell of the trees and the cries of little birds overhead, and by dinner time he would come back to the school feeling refreshed and ready for a snack, or a game of scario kart, or whatever his friends were doing to entertain themselves.

But today, he didn't return from the woods. Instead of meeting Ren for dinner he didn't show up, and in his room there was nothing but a small horde of fluffs eagerly awaiting their own dinner. He hadn't told anyone he would be late, or studying in the library, so where was he?

Ren had waited for Jove for almost twenty minutes before giving up and going to search for the boil. He had never known his little brother to stand him up before, which made it a little worrisome that he hadn't actually shown up. He'd tried Jove's dorm (empty), then his own dorm (also empty), before standing, hands on his hips, down on the school grounds in front of the forest. Ren had remembered Jove mentioning something about going there that morning, but he should have been back long before now - which meant either one of two things: he'd fallen asleep in a log somewhere, or something had happened.

Ren greatly preferred the first option to the latter.

With a sigh, he ran a hand through his long hair, pushing it back away from his face. Giving the forest a highly suspicious look, he warily made his way in, determined to figure out what had happened to his little brother.

Yuki had been doing a little exploring of his own, more recently than the student that had unbeknownst to him gone missing. He had been wandering the school grounds and surrounding areas, processing the very new world around him with all of the sights and sounds it had to offer.

It was when he was investigating a rather curious looking insect, whom seemed to find it rather alarming to have something stirring the branch on which they both perched, that the boil had looked down to see Ren as he came through the treeline. The light scraping of his shoe's soles on the bark was the only announcement of his descent, for he landed so lightly that it barely made a sound. He lingered at the base of the tree, looking toward Ren curiously.

"What's the matter?" Yuki questioned, sensing his worry. Despite the fact that they didn't know one another, the stranger's emotion had gotten his attention and he hoped to help.

Tybalt had seen the gryphon move from the ghost dorm and back to the monster dorm before coming to stop in front of the forest. He looked bothered... More so than usual. Which normally wouldn't have made the black dog care, but the fact that he came to the ghost dorms and came out looking as worried as he did now, meant that it was probably something about Jove.

"What's up?" He asked, looking between both Ren and Yuki after finally deciding to come see for himself. Thankfully, he didn't bother with his usual insult on sight. If something was really wrong, he didn't want to make matters worse by causing another pointless argument.

Willow had been around the ghost dorms and noticed a gryphon, monster perhaps? Searching for something or someone.... There was a small frown as she curiously followed the other. It was something she probably normally wouldn't do but she'd seen that look before on her mother's face.

The ghoul watched as the boil entered the forest and others greeted him. Being new she wasn't sure if she should bother him but at the same time, that look normally meant something bad was going on.... "Um... hi..." The tigress approached the small group. She hadn't noticed Tybalt had followed from the ghost dorms as well... granted she'd stopped outside of the monster dorms not wanting to go inside because she didn't know any monsters really.

She seemed a little nervous as she didn't normally like groups but it was small enough she'd brave it if that meant maybe she could help, "I uh... heh... noticed you looking a little worried back in the ghost dorms." She added her fingers being brought together and pulled apart.

The others had basically already asked what was wrong... she pondered her next choice of words though, "I hope I'm not butting into your little gathering... but uh.... if there's something wrong and you need some help.... I'd.... be glad to help." The ghost nodded her head hoping the others wouldn't mind.

Israfel was usually fine with flying these days, enjoying his new more adult wings and the fact he could now actually fly and not just..hover pathetically. While he still didn't dare go very high for fear of the winds, staying just above the tree line was easy enough, and gave him the practice he needed. Still he tended to fly pretty casually, and didn't often notice many others about. SO when he saw a few students gathering and entering the forest curiousness did rise up in the siren. He recognized Tybalt and Ren but not the other boil. Flying down and coming to a bit of a skittish stop, he cocked his head. They seemed..concerned? The forest was a place they were not supposed to really explore, but it looked like they had some sort of need to go in. Either way Israfel figured there would be no harm in asking what they were doing and he followed them into the forest before approaching. "Hi." He smiled, nodding to them. "Why are we in the forest?"

Year two, yet still simple minded.

After a few weeks of settling into her dorm, Bea had decided to take a walk to discover any juicy stories to gossip about. When Bea had walked out of the ghost dorms, something caught her eye... she had noticed a boil with long blonde hair sighing at the forest ahead of him along with a few other students gathering around him. A sad looking boil? Concerned students? Not to mention standing in front of a forest at the edge of the campus... This had got to be something! Bea tried to contain her excitement, wiped the smile off her face and headed towards the small cluster of students.

"Has something happened?" Tilting her head slightly to the side and holding onto a lock of her hair. Her eyes darted to each student and saw a Israfel who arrived just a bit before she did. He was also the only one smiling in the group.

Tahki had been enjoying a woodsy walk at her leisure. It was nice out and the gryphon was enjoying every moment. Leaves crunched beneath her clawed feet with every step.

Crunch crunch crunch crunch crunch crunch.

Something about that sound just made the gryphon smile. A pile of leaves caught her sight and a wicked evil grin unraveled on her face. No one seemed to be around, why not? Tahki ran and dived in to the pile with a very wicked look in her eyes.

However, her moment of playfulness died when she noticed the group of students gathered by the tree line. Tahki frowned and held on to her head phones, adjusting them a bit, before wandering over to see what exactly was going on. She knew Ren, Tybalt and Israfel but there where faces she did not know. Quietly, the gryphon approached the group.

"W-whats going on Tybalt?"

There were a lot of faces the gryphon did not know. She gave a timid smile to Willow , Yuki and Bea.

So he'd been trying out catching stuff again. It wasn't that big of a deal, right, Roch thought as he watched the group make their way into the forest. At least it hadn't been until the itch in the back of his head had turned into a jackin' symphony, alerting him to the fact that not one, not two, but at least three ghosts were heading straight in his direction.

Which is why the reaper very carefully moved behind the closest tree, hoping not to draw attention to himself. Sure there'd been an itch before, but hell, there were ghost minipets out there--he'd figured it had been one or two of those.

But he couldn't escape just yet, he thought with frustration. If he left he'd be out in the open, and they could ask him what he'd been doing, or gang up on him or something. This is what happened when a city boil started hunting, he told himself. He was such an idiot.

Israfel smiled at Bea, then gave a sad shake of his head. "I'm not sure. Something in the woods..." He recalled his last visit there. When he had successfully had a bucket trapped on his head and sat on a stump while something had happened to the other students. Out of ten, the event rated a two on the scale of 'how mentally scarring was that school experience'. Bucket on head kind of spared him anything, but he still had had a bucket on his head the whole time which rather sucked.

When Tahki arrived, Israfel's mood considerably lightened. The artic gryphon getting a grin and the sight of feathers fluffing out in greeting. Though he didn't say anything, he gave a small head bob to her. However, in greeting Tahki, he didn't notice the other new boil to arrive. Knobs and snots may interact, but Israfel was just simple, he was a siren. And sirens did tend to stay with their flocks. So his focus was pretty much on the other year two students who looked like they knew what was going on.

The forest was strangely quiet this evening. Not even the chirp of noxious toads or the skitterings of poisonous little creatures could be heard on the edge of the woods, it was as if nothing dared make a peep. Usually this time of evening was filled with the sounds of critters getting ready for the night...

It certainly couldn't be a predator of some sort this close to the edge of the forest. The students who roamed the edge of the woods in an adventurous fashion would rarely ever run into anything large enough to be a threat. All the big, monstrous things kept to themselves in the heart of the forest, deeper than any student had time to adventure between classes and mealtimes.

So why was everything so silent?

Israfel was growing concerned. The sounds he normally might have were we not present, and more then that, it just seemed empty. "Do you guys find it odd?" His ear wings kept flicked about, trying to find something, anything to hone in on. "All the birds are silent." Maybe it was just him, but the lack of songs from the usual sky's nocturne...it didn't sit well with him.

Tybalt shrugged at the others when they arrived, they too asking questions.

"Your guesses are as good as mine." He answered in reply to them all; waving slightly at those he knew. "Though I'm assuming its something to do with Jove." He added. He wasn't sure to be honest. He really had no idea what the heck was going on.

The fact that the whole forest was silent didn't help. It unnerved the black dog a great deal. Even with his sensitive hearing he couldn't hear a single sound. Not one bird call, not one cricket chirp. Nothing. There was no sign of life. Even the winds seemed to have died down. It wasn't natural... It was enough to make his stand on end.

"Very odd..." He agreed with the siren boil. "I don't like it..."

Roch took a step back, only to curse inwardly as a stick broke under his foot. That sort of s**t never happened when he was in the city!! He looked around, then up, seeing a branch hanging right over his head, which he grabbed onto and hauled himself up onto quickly.

All those years of climbing fences seemed to come in handy when climbing trees, he thought as he tried to hide among the branches. His gray clothing did a decent job of making it hard to see him, but not great.

The female gryphon gave Israfel a small smile. She bit her lip feeling a little uneasy. Everyone was standing around and no one had a clue what was going on. Was something dangerous lurking in these woods perhaps? Or maybe not. All and all it could be summed up as-

"...Eerie..." Tahki muttered.
