It was beginning to look like the start of a perfect night, the air was warm and there was no breeze to speak of. But while the air was warm, the grass of the meadow Chemosh found himself in was cool and he knew that some unfortunate furry friend would come seeking that coolness. And then he would have his dinner.
A short distance off there was a small body of water, probably refilled by the summer rains, and he was betting any wildlife would go there first. His long tongue flicked out, moistening his overlarge fangs, the milky whites of his eyes fairly gleamed in the coming darkness. Chemosh was a shadow among the rocks and a snake in the grass, a cunning predator he was terribly patient when waiting for something tasty to come along. His shadowlike tail curled about the tall water reeds that sprouted up from the damp soil around the water. Something would come~ he was certain of it. A wicked smile stretched quite far across his face, the rising moon glinting on his sinister expanse of fangs. Something would come.

User Image Demon was bored.... he had let his faviourite play thing go, disowning it as bitterly as could. Rhea... a pretty mare that he could not allow himself to string along any longer.

He growled, suddenly angry at himself. With a stomp of his hoof on the ground he looked around for... a distraction. That was when he saw the water, and an idea came to mind. Water at night usually attracted nocturnal creatures.... sport for him to play with.

With new determination he headed towards the water.

When he got closer he spotted a shadow, but it was more than that though.... it had substance and body, movement and soul. Perhaps he would get a good fight out of this whole thing after all!

Silently he moved towards the creature, acting with nonchalance as ignored it to take a drink. Those that didn't know him would probably believe the act, but in reality he was concentrating, using it as an opportunity to gain information on this strange creature beside him. Demons eyes glowed in the dark, white orbs that looked like two stars shining out of his face, yet as he looked at the waters surface he saw what seemed to be the flickering of gas and flame mixed together.... he had never seen such a sight before.

He had raised a brow when he heard the creature coming, what sort or idiot would make that much noise in the open? Well he knew he would soon find out, and that he did. Chemosh tilted his head slightly, but his movements were practically liquid in the darkness. The creature that had appeared at the water with him wasn't dinner for sure, but definitely something to take seriously. The stallion stood a good few hands taller than himself, definitely a strong kalona line in this one. He sported horns on his nose, which reminded him strongly of a creature he'd read about once...a rhino, yes, that was it.

He studied the large male, his large white eyes narrowed to calculating slits and his tail swishing behind him like that of an angry cat. The stallion radiated power, so he wasn't up to chancing that he hadn't been noticed. Instead he went for another approach. " Good evening sssstranger~" he offered, his voice deep and steeped in poisonous kindness. " A nice night for a cool drink...dont you agree?"

Demon continued to ignore the strange creature, looking on via his peripheral vision. He noticed several interesting features... and weaknesses. The most interesting to Demon seemed to be the unique spikes and claws growing from the creatures chest.... they reminded Demon almost of a kalona, especially coupled with the long fanged teeth, but without horns or wings Demon wasn't ready to suggest Kalona blood... after all, all manner of strange creatures inhabited the land.

When the stranger spoke Demon paused for a moment, refusing to turn his head until he was 'ready'. It took a moment before he finally turned his head with lazy interest, "Evening," he growled out, his voice a deep rumble, "....hmmmmm...." He said with a sigh, not wanting to actually answer for lack of interest in the subject matter.

He then took a moment to look the other stallion up and down, making no effort at all to hide his gaze as he ran it up and down the stallion's form. There was something so familar yet so foreign about him.... but Demon couldn't put his hoof on it, pushing it aside for thought later on he returned his gaze to the stallions face. "Are you tough?" He asked, once again in lazy interest and his growled voice. The was a reason behind Demon's question, those who claimed to be tough usually weren't... those who remained silent had potential... and those that said no were not worth his time. Looks could be decieving after all.

Chemosh smiled, his face stretched eerily to accomodate all of his shining teeth " Tough humm?" He studied the stallion before him, looking at him for nearly the same reasons as the other had looked at him. Who was dangerous and who wasn't tended to be a relative thing in this land, small things could proove deadly and large things could be soft and cuddly...Chemosh was willing to bet this did not ring true with this particular brute. He had already made the assumption that he was a powerhouse sort of male, he knew the type because his own family happened to crawl with that sort of thing. Chemosh wasn't interested. He sneered openly, brawn had nothing over brain, and one tended to live longer and keep their looks when not in fights over petty things. He simply shrugged, his tail curling languidlly behind him as he dipped his head down to drink, that was answer enough.

He licked the water from his lips his long tone darting out to catch the last of the drips, while this stallion radiated power, Chemosh was a mystery to most, he played the smart one, the polite serial killer in a way~ most folks didn't grasp who or what he was till it was far FAR too late. He liked it that way. He kept his weight centered on his back legs so if he had to, he could move away from this one, quick. It was far better to be safe than sorry, and much easier to return fire when you were ready for it. " That dependsss~why do you asssk?"

Demon watched the stallion before returning to the water's edge for another small drink. He remained silent for a moment, considering the stallions reaction.... part of him suspected that he did have force to back up his looks, but perhaps he didn't readily use it? The stance suggested he was preparing to bolt if needed... though bolting to form a vantage was something Demon could respect.

With a shrug of his shoulder, and a lick of his lips -with a much smaller tongue than his 'companion'- he turned to look at him, eyes aglow. "No reason... simply determining if you are worthy of my time.... or not." For a moment he simply stared before finally doing another lazy shrug as he turned to look at his reflection in the water's glossy surface.

The surface revealed many things, a near monotone reflection of himself and the stranger beside him flickered and rippled before him. Similar yet different. Two forces of nature.

Demon's ears suddenly twitched and he turned his head to the look over the stallion at what had caused a disturbance in the distance... it was quite far away, but with his glowing eyes and his skill at spying things in the dark he noticed the form of a small fox... no older than a youth... wandering from the safety of its burrow into the open. Foolish little creature.

A grin appeared on Demons face....

Chemosh simply couldn't help himself, he chuckled darkly, one of his ears flicking " i sssee~we think alike then" However while the other stared down into the water, he watched the stallion, this one was large for sure, and even one such as himself had to give a fair kudo to the fact that ones like him could rip you a new one with very little effort. If Chemosh was a deadly assassin, silent and quick. This one was the equivalent to the animal he had aliked him to earlier, all charge and muscle. A lot of those who came from kalona decent seemed to be just that.

He raised an eyebrow as the stallion moved, his attention suddenly captured by something far off in the grass. Chemosh heard the rustling of the creature, faintly but definitely there. His other eyebrow quirked quizzically. Perhaps Chemosh would see this big beastie hunt the unfortunate creature. It would be a good way to judge the skill of this one as well.

Demon couldn't resist or stop the chuckle that left his lips, the stallion had guts he had to give him that. The laughter however only lasted a moment before disappearing into nothing as if it had never been there at all.

However now Demon's attention was divided between the stranger and the Fox.... and for a moment he contemplated what to do. Moving after the creature would reveal some of his moves and intent, yet Demon really didn't want to pass up the opportunity.

It took only a moment, and since Demon was more of an 'act now - think later' kind of guy it didn't take long for him to make his decision. Slowly he walked around the stallion, eyes focused on the stranger to ensure that he didn't move to attack while he considered Demon 'off guard'... it would be a foolish mistake for him should he try something. Safely away from the creature he turned his focus onto the Fox.

Ears twitching, muscles flexed below his pelt, rippling with eagerness to move with a power, speed and stealth that few ever saw coming from him. Demon had been trained for war, forced to fight for his life over and over again for the sick delights of Blood-Queen Lana'thel... he hated those memories, but he supposed the skills had proved useful in part. Glowing eyes scanned the area, saw his shot and with a flash of movement aided by a swift flap of his wings to speed his start he jumped into the air before pouncing.

The creature didn't see it coming, and with Demon's usual grace despite his large size the deed was done. Blood covered Demon's teeth as he gripped the creature by its neck, the last of the body tremors causing it to twitch and shift in his grip. Satisfied he dropped the limp body and tore a strip off to feast on. Blood dripped on his usually white fangs, sliding with the flesh down his throat... it was... delicious.

Chemosh wrinkled his nose as the sharp coppery smell of blood threaded through the air. He was hungry still, and having to watch the big brutish stallion tear up the fox was a little more than irritating. His flat pearly eyes stared down at the water and quick as a striking snake his muzzle splashed into the pool and plucked a wriggling grayling from the water. He didn't really prefer fish but it would tide him over while the other was busy with his grisly meal.

He thrashed his shadowy tail behind him, spitting out a few silver scales after consuming all he wanted of the sweet flesh of the fish. He simply waited for the stallion to come back, the moonlight dancing along the area and bleaching all the color from the area. Blood was black against the gray ground...Monochrome was normal for the nightwalkers.

Demon silently stalked back towards the waters edge. Dipped his muzzle into the cool liquid and watched for a moment as the blood flowed away, the last of the evidence upon his body that he had even killed. It was strange to think that the life of the fox was so easily forgotten and erased.... and although he hated the idea, he couldn't help but wonder if his own exsistance would be eradicated so easily one day. Of course, that would take one hell of an opponant! And the fight would be worth it.

After he was done 'grooming' himself, he turned his attention back to the stranger, noticing how he was spitting scales out into the water. A flash thought came to him, two predators had struck and two creatures had died. Swift as a blink of an eye.

A feral sort of grin spread upon his face, "So... what is your name." It was more a demand than a question, Demon was after all used to getting his own way in most things.

Chemosh stared at him with his flat pearly eyes and an equally eerly smile split his face, nearly to his ears, a smile full of needles " My name? it'sss Chemosh. And what isss yoursss?"

His shadowy tail snaked about in the darkness, this stallion was interesting, and Chemosh had an affection for interesting things, living or otherwise. But there was also something familiar about this one, despite his brutish nature, which his brothers seemed to dip into now and again. He just couldn't put his hoof on it at the moment...
PostPosted: Sat Dec 10, 2011 2:18 pm

"Demon." He said it with a purred growl, he was proud of his name and in many ways he lived up to it and beyond it... after all, he was a demon! A specimen worthy of the title kalona, he enjoyed toying with his prey, he enjoyed the taste and smell of blood and most of all, he was not afraid to do what was needed. Those 'softer' soquili where pitiful in their need to always show mercy, to see the best in others... there was no such thing. Everyone had a shadow following them, with some you could simply see it....!

He took a moment to examine Chemosh again, not bothered if he made the other uncomfortable... there was something so familar, so similar... but Demon couldn't put his hoof on. Demon's mind was sharp enough to note that the other stallion seemed to be doing the exact same thing.

Demon remained silent for a time, until finially he asked; "Where does your family line fall?" Perhaps there was a similarity due to blood? If so... Demon could almost bring himself to respect the other stallion, this Chemosh. Demon's line was rooted in dragons, the mystical creatures that brought terror and fear beyond that of a mere Kalona.... of course that was also the reason why his black magic was not as strong as a pure bred Kalona, Dragons were more brute strength than inner magic... but like with most things, Demon's determination and stubborness wouldn't let him give up. He would be the best. He would outshine even those with the purest ties to the shadows.... for he was a force of nature all of his own!

" Demon " He repeated " How very appropriate" He smiled even wider " sssuch a ssstrong name for sssuch a ssstrong beasst." Chemosh did not enjoy the scrutinizing gaze Demon was giving him, as if he were trying to ask a question by forcing it out of his flesh with his eyes. The question actually surprised him, he wasn't normally the one that brought up family lines, especially since his family was so broad and well, dangerous. Curious folks wound up dead just by asking one too many questions about them. However, it was something in the stallions tone that caused him to raise an inky eyebrow. Perhaps...well what the heck.
He responded smoothly, his shadowy tail flickering behind him " I am the ssson of Poissson and Pooka, decendantsss of the Anju and Venom linessss" He sneered proudly, even the mention of those lines he knew, sent fear into lesser beings. While his brothers and he had been a "mistake" They were fortunate enough to share two great bloodlines and his grandmother had spared them all. They pleased her, which was a good thing to any who had met the mare, dragons were a scary lot, even to him.
