Nephrite has been handing out these fliers for a while now, to every guardians fiend she could get a hold of and - occasionally (though she wasn't supposed to) - to people she liked. Btw, there's no street address on the flyer (Amon's fairly paranoid, he doesn't give out his address just like that), that's what the email was for. ;D

Rules:
● This is, first and foremost an RP event. ((Double-bracket)) OOC posts or mark them otherwise as such.
● If you've got questions, post them in the Main Thread of the shop please.
● The usual: No drama, no god-modding, TOS applies, common sense as well, and so on. I don't really think I need to tell you. <3

There's no time set yet for the end of the event, but I'll give you a fair warning ahead of time. Of course RP can still continue even after the event has ended officially.

Love you all,
have fun,

~Thabara

In a bout of generosity Nephrite has prepared favors for the guests of their garden party, delicate little porcelain cups planted with saplings. The seeds were from a mixed bag, so there's no way of knowing what might grow from them.

Requirements:
● At least one RP post of having dropped by for the BBQ party. That can be a post in this open RP, or a solo post in your character's journal.
● Only one per guardian-fiend tandem. Yes, that does mean, if you own two fiends, you are entitled for two of these. But you'll have to do another RP post for that one. If they don't come to the party, Nephrite doesn't see why they should get one of her awesome flower-cups.
● First come first serve, people can pick in order of their postings. Should I run out, I'll make more.
● Even if you're not an owner, you still can have one, in that case it is limited to one per person. You must still write up at least one RP post, solo, or joined in this Open RP.
● You wont get these right away, as I'll need to poke Reyna about a cert first.
● These may actually never grow, just a heads up. But they're still pretty, no?
● Questions? Ask them in the Main Thread please.

Pick one!

12. Reyna (w. Reyna & Mystic)

Stuff you ought to know:

● The location is Amon's house (or rather, the backyard/garden - to the South, btw), which is pretty out-of-the-way, with no other houses nearby. It's been vacant for years, which left the garden in a fairly desolate state, and while Amon and Nephrite have been quite busy to fix it up, there's still plenty of shadowy, overgrown spots for the fiends and wisps to hide in. The yard is fenced off, not like that would hinder the fiends going wherever they want, and the fence is broken in places anyway. And there's Neph's little greenhouse of course.
● For the party lights have been put up in the trees, and in a safe distance from everything logs and branches have been set up for a bonfire later on. Fiends can't eat, but they still might have fun roasting marshmallows? Because ... it's fun to roast things. Yeah. There's plenty of food (even some tofu for the vegetarians, and Miranda has baked some adorable fairy cakes) and beverages are taken care of. Amon dares you to try his sambal. Don't. It will burn out your taste buds (and likely a hole in your stomach).
● Don't. Use. Magic. Amon will have told you in the e-mails that gave his address that magic is an absolute no-no on his premises. If your character has to teleport in or magick about, at least be sneaky about it and don't let him see it. Unless you want to piss your host off, of course.
● The party starts late, so that the fiends will be more comfortable. If your characters arrive early/on time, it will be dawn. I'll probably move the time along occasionally ICly, and simply assume that the characters of those who post later also arrived later.
● Non-owners of fiends can play too (hello lurkers, you know who you are ... >D), Nephrite may have given out some invitations to people she wasn't supposed to. Because they were nice. And she thought it would be nice for them to come over.
● Suggestions? Questions? Post them in the Main Thread of the shop please.

“Ugh,” muttered Miranda, carrying yet another pair of folding chairs down the steps of the porch and onto the lawn while Rutie orbited her head like a tiny, shadowy satellite. “Tell me, how again did I end up volunteering for this?” Her hair was a vibrant shade somewhere between apricot and pink today, with strands of both.

“Because she asked you to,” Amon replied, giving a nod in Neph’s direction. The lime-colored fiend was putting up the lights, together with Ruku. It had seemed like the perfect job for the two of them, after all they could float. Right now, however, they seemed more occupied bending their heads over a caterpillar of some sorts they’d found rather than getting their job done. “And resistance is futile once you’ve gazed into her Big Gray Eyes Of Doom.”

He followed down the steps right after Mir with two crates of water bottles, carrying them with apparent ease. Men, she hated that so much about them, always showing off, even if they didn’t mean to.

“Yes, I remember now,” the young woman said, setting the chairs down. “Like, in a really hazy, foggy sort of way. Do you think she may be capable of mind-control?”

“Nah,” Amon said (I seriously hope not), “just being awfully cute and playing it right.”

“So,” he added, “there’s still about half an hour left, so you might want to freshen up now, I’ll finish up here. I doubt anyone’s going to be early. Or on time even.” No one ever was.

“Oh God, good, yes. Yes, I would like that. I haven’t done this much heavy lifting since I moved.” Miranda stumbled back up the chairs, her relief evident. Quite honestly, she’d been hoping she’d be … decorating, not doing the grunt work. So, well, okay, Amon and Jasa had actually done most of that, they’d already been at it by the time she’d arrived.

“To the right, Rainbow Brite. Left is men area, you don’t want to go there.”

“Why, thank you Mr Ashtray.” Miranda stuck out her tongue.

“You’re welcome.” Amon smirked. But really, he’d have to remember to thank her later on. He honestly hadn’t expected for her to come over and lend a hand, lest alone bringing along a HUGE container of pastel colored cupcakes as she had.

He leaned with his back against the porch, lighting himself a cigarette. “Neph, Ruku?” he called, “are you ever going to finish with those lights? It’s almost time.”

‘Time? How much longer?’ Nephrite inquired, appearing decidedly startled.

“About half an hour,” Amon replied, knowing full well what would ensue. Hah, poor Ruku.

Half an hour?!’ Nephrite’s mental voice had a positively frantic ring to it. ‘I have to get ready! I haven’t even decided on a dress yet!’ The young fiend hurried past her guardian into the house, the colorful fluttering sleeves of her silken gown giving her the appearance of an oversized butterfly. There was a loud crash followed an undignified squeak when she collided with Miranda in the bathroom.

Amon smirked once more, extinguishing the cigarette before he had finished it, and then headed towards Ruku to help him out.

*What are marshmallows, Amon?* Ruku asked as he tried to help Neph finish string the lights exactly where Nephrite wanted them. She could be demanding sometimes, so much so that Ruku wondered how this was going to be fun. They not only had to put all this together, they had to clean up the mess when it was done. Not his idea of a party.

*I hope there's more fun than this,* he said directing his thoughts to Amon. He was getting better at that. *Jasa has been.. pushy today ordering me to help her get things ready. Is it just cause they are females?* He glanced towards Neph and then Jasa where she was humming as she made certain there were enough napkins and things to go around.

"Yes, it's a female thing," Jasa replied dryly, her lips curving upwards in amusement without turning around to watch him. Looking over the table and the things on it, she smiled. Everything seemed to be ready. Now they just needed the guests. "You'll understand when you are older, Ruku." Somehow she knew that Amon would be as amused as she was that she had heard. "But you will like marshmallows.*

*Great... she heard. Somehow that figures.* he winced, his tail twitching in annoyance. A bit of soot was left on the ground as his tail dragged a bit.

“Sweets,” Amon replied to Ruku’s question. “Sort of fluffy, white, lots of sugar. Which makes them caramelize if you roast them. Though, seeing as you guys don’t eat …” Amon shrugged. He had a feeling that Ruku might have a penchant for roasting things no matter what, simply for the fun of it, if his tail was any indication. Good thing it had rained recently …

“Don’t worry, it’ll get more fun.” He ruffled the little fiend’s hair and smirked. “And it’s a female thing too to overhear things they shouldn’t. Ah, how about I show you how to start the grill fire once we’re done with the lights here?”

“And yes,” he added, before Jasa had a chance to say anything, glancing at her over his shoulder for a moment, “that urge to play with fire is indeed a male thing. We simply cannot help ourselves.”

It was also a very female thing, in Nephrite’s case at least, to have a walk in wardrobe full of clothes and nothing to wear. Originally she had wanted to wear the purple gown, but then decided against it, for reasons she couldn’t remember. The black-and-red one was stylish, but simply too dark, and the yellow one would attract all sorts of icky bugs, and-

“That one,” Miranda said, peering over Nephrite’s shoulder and pointing. “The white one with the lavender flowers. I’ve never seen you in it.” And she had the feeling if she didn’t relieve the fiend of her decision she’d still be there hovering there in an hour, deadlocked.

‘Because it’s new,’ Nephrite quipped. ‘I made Amon buy it. For the pa-’ She blinked. ‘Oh.’

Miranda had such a hard time not laughing out loud it was making her eyes tear. “Oh goodness. You really are such a fuzzy-brained person, Nephrite …” She said, shaking her head and wiping a laughing tear from the corner of her eye. “Now get ready, or I will take up your spot at the front window.”

‘No!’ Nephrite protested, raising her mental voice enough to cause her poor guardian to twitch and make a face. ‘The window is mine!’ After all she wanted to to be the first to see when their guests arrived.

Rukurai snickered mentally. Playing with fire was one of his favorite things. Well, playing with heat. He had been practicing and had managed to set some paper on fire. If Jasa knew, she would kill him. So he had not told her. His lips twitched because he figured what she did not know would not hurt him.

*I would like to try roasting these marshmallows,* Ruku replied, without glancing at Jasa. He grinned widely when Amon ruffled his hair. He liked the man and Jasa had already said that Nephrite, Amon, and they were going to go on vacation together. He was looking forwards to it, too. He did finally glance over to see Jasa watching them. *It’s men business, Jasa. Go back to what you were doing.*

“It’s going to be grounding business if you get too smart for your britches, buddy,” she smirked in reply winking at Amon. “Don’t catch anything on fire you are not supposed to. Strangely that vest is the only thing he has that does not smolder. I need to find a few other things that are heat proof I think.”

“And I love s’mores. I hope you bought stuff for those, Amon,” she stated, moving towards a pot of flowers that Nephrite had situated just so earlier. It must be some of those Neph had planted before she had helped with the greenhouse. They were definitely healthy from what she could see. The fiend was doing a wonderful job on them.

(( I think I want that first pot in the top row, Thabs. Jasa is partial to that one for some reason. ))

Amon couldn’t help but laugh when Ruku admonished his guardian, but then went to patiently explain how to properly build a fire and eventually handing him a box of matches to light the tinder.

“Asbestos fiber, maybe?” he suggested with a wry grin. He was joking, obviously. “Or maybe you could ask Athan to, I dunno, enchant something.” He made a face as he spoke, pronouncing ‘enchant’ as if it was something thoroughly indecent to do.

My spot,’ Nephrite hissed, elbowing Miranda aside as soon as she was dressed and had finished doing her hair. She had put it up in her habitual double-bun, adorned with a golden comb and a cute lavender-and gold kanzashi which matched the colors of her dress.

“Ow, Nephie, ow! Stop that! Your elbow is pointy!”

‘Then move,’ Nephrite quipped, poising herself onto the window sill and peering outwards, her fabricy tail flicking and curling like a cat’s.

Miranda shook her head. It was always a little disturbing just how quickly Nephrite could switch from her usual sweet and adorable self to bossy and pushing people about … and then back. Someone was hitting her puberty for sure.

‘Ow,’ Nephrite made, as something small smacked into her face, and then again, as a certain little wisp tried to make it clear he did not agree with the rather rough treatment she’d given his guardian. Stop that, Rutie, or I’ll-’

‘Oh! Oh! Oh! A car, a car, a car!’ Excited, Nephrite pressed her face against the window pane, with Rutie almost getting caught in between. But it was merely a random car passing by, none of their guests.

“Actually, I didn’t,” Amon confessed. “Though I think Miranda may have. She sort of put herself in charge of sweets.”

(( Nephie made me make that one. Because she likes chrysanthemums. =3 ))

Rhys motorcycle brought him in front of the house that the e-mail confirmation had replied with, he took time to park in a shaded area. Pausing the young man rested on his bike looking up at the home, he hadn't had a whole lot of time to actually speak with other guardians. Rhys didn't wait too long before reaching over and opening an over sized saddle bag, one of Tek's tentacles popped out first and then slowly came the rest of the fiend.

Tek tilted his head and turned around in place standing not far from his guardian and the bike, this doesn't look like much of a party.

Rhys smirked and pulled himself off the bike dropping his helmet around one of the handles of the motor bike, he reflexively stretched his wings out keeping them fanned out from his body some to offer Tek a touch more shadow. "The party I believe is in the back," glancing up and over Rhys gestured toward the side of the house where he could see a few tell tale signs of festivities poking out.

Tek stretched out standing taller a moment looking toward where Rhys had gestured, settling back down Tek's tail split into three tentacles and started to swish in random directions. That does seem to be the place, we do wonder if you have noticed the window or not...

Rhys glanced over and noticing that someone seemed to be watching gave a wave toward them, "seems we've been spotted."

I have an idea! Tek's mind voice came quickly and one of the tail tentacles snaked up to wrap around Rhys arm, come on, we need to move to the side of the house where they can't see us - quickly.

Rhys considered arguing but then decided it wasn't worth it to bother to do so and let Tek guide him along. Rhys headed toward the back of the house Tek moving along with him until they ended up along the side of the house and Tek stopped abruptly.

Stay here. Tek's voice was a mental whisper.

Rhys paused and then rested up against the side of the house, he still wasn't sure exactly what Tek was up to but figured it might be best to wait around and see how it went.

Tek took a moment to make sure that Rhys wasn't following before dropping down low in the shadow of the house, slinking along the ground he made his way toward the window where he'd seen someone looking out. The little fiend readied itself before popping up in front of the window suddenly, his arms wide flailing his tentacles and making sure his spikes were high and noticeable. Boo!

The motorcycle which came after, however, wasn’t merely passing by, but instead pulled up in the driveway. Nephrite’s eyes grew wide as she continued to pressed her face against the glass, eager to see more. She didn’t know anyone who rode a bike, so who could it possibly be?!

“That would be Rhys, I think,” Miranda murmured, answering Nephrite’s yet unasked question. The fiend’s excitement and curiosity was almost tangible. “Isn’t he, like, living in the same place as Merci?” Miranda’s brows knit into a frown as she tried to remember. She didn’t work for Twilight Designs that long yet, and the young woman was still struggling to get straight who was who and the guardian of which fiend exactly.

‘Where are they going?’ Nephrite asked, craning her head to get a better look at their first real guests. Mir, Ruku and Jasa had helped setting up, so they didn’t quite count in her opinion. Where was the fiend? She thought she’d caught a glimpse of green for a moment, but now she didn’t see anything that hinted to its whereabouts. Maybe it was still a wisp? ‘Wont they come in? Why wont they come in?’ she complained.

“I think they may be going straight for the back?” Miranda mused. “After all that’s where the action’s going to be.”

‘Not fair!’ Nephrite whined, torn. Couldn’t they just have used the front door? She really wanted to greet their guests. On the other hand she hesitated to give up her perch at the window, as she might miss out the arrival of the next. She was still wavering and fretting about what to do when Tek popped up in front of the window like a jack-in-the-box.

KYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!” The two girls squealed in unison, clinging to each other and stumbling back, their eyes wide.

Giggling Tek dropped down from in front of the window holding his sides. Hullo! That was great! Tek projected toward the other fiend from his spot on the ground before slowly righting himself and darting back over toward Rhys.

They were almost as surprised as Merci!

From around the corner Rhys laughed softly and stepped around to the front of the house.

Rhys shook his head slightly before stepping out to where Neph and Mirande would be able to see him and gave another wave before heading toward the front door. "You're lucky that they weren't armed like she was," Rhys glanced over to Tek as he spoke.

Tek scurried over next to Rhys. Even though Rhys was pretty sure they knew they were here he reached up and knocked a couple times quickly on the door, as he knocked he tucked his wings in close to his body.

It was still good though! Tek looked up toward Rhys despite his lack of mouth the boy swore the fiend was grinning.

"Where did you even get this vehicle? And since when do you drive? This makes me immensely… anxious," Athan complained, yet again, from where he sat in the passenger seat of the SUV Reyna had acquired for the occasion. He so disliked vehicles. He didn't understand why they couldn't just use a portal. He did know of Amon's "sensitivities" when it came to magic, but surely a simple portal was harmless enough to not spook him.

Reyna didn't bother to answer, as she had done for the vast majority of the trip from Durem, and pulled the shiny, black vehicle into park. "Quit your bitchin' and get out, old man. We're here."

Athan scoffed, utterly appalled, but made no hesitation when it came to exiting the vehicle. He was loathe to admit it, but being trapped inside a vehicle of any sort made him feel more than just a little bit ill at ease. "And just where is your Shadow? I thought he was going to be joining us this evening," Athan muttered as he walked around to the back of the vehicle to help the demoness to retrieve the extra food stuffs they had brought along with the rather large jug of tea he had insisted on bringing.

"I dunno," she replied, "He'll make an entrance later, I'm sure."

"I don't like the sound of that."

"Of course you don't. You're you."

Their argument continued as they walked up towards the house just in time to see Tektite scare Nephrite and Miranda. They stopped with a glance towards one another. Reyna smirked with a bemused chuckle, and Athan frowned. It was destined to be a very interesting evening.

Algie didn't do driving. He'd learned of course.. but that had been the late nineties and his significant other at the time had insisted on it. He was not a good driver. Give him a broom or just good old apparition. He'd made sure to 'port himself in a couple blocks away. He didn't want to upset Amon by using any magic even remotely close to the house and he didn't mind the walk since it was a nice day.

"Reyna! Athan!" He was coming down the street not far behind, Bloo snug on his finger like armor, and clutching a small bag. Algie was looking nice in a mint green dress shirt and a pair of black slacks. Hela had once again insisted on putting product in his hair so it was 'tastefully mussed'.

Bloo zipped from his hand at the sight of the two very familiar figures. He zoomed around Athan first and then Reyna. The wisp rarely saw them but he'd known them even longer than he'd known his own bond.
