Now that she was settling into her new environment rather well, it was probably time to report back to the folks at home of her progress! That of course meant mail time! But in order to have mail time, one needed stationery and writing utensils. Hel wasn’t exactly sure what happened, but a lot of her pens and quills happened to be gone, poof, into thin air. She wondered if the big move had anything to do with it, but that was beside the point. It was time to get more!
Thus it didn’t take too long for the ghoul to locate a store within town that sold the supplies she needed. Hel hummed to herself as she stared at the selection of stationery before her, rubbing her chin thoughtfully with a dark hand. Wow, they had quite the selection here! She was just looking over the paper right now, and hadn’t even looked at the writing utensils yet…

It was another day out and...another day lost in town. At some point Mitsu had taken one too many right turns and had tried to correct this problem with a few left turns but somehow that left her disoriented so she had tried to back track her steps...where had she been? It was safe to say she was completely lost. Where in Halloween was she? Maybe if she did what Junko said and thought of it as an adventure it wouldn't be so distressing. It's an adventure, just keep moving forward. Eventually I'll find a place I know...I hope.
In the process of this 'adventure' Mitsu stumbled upon a stationary supply store. While that hadn't been her goal she did need a new notebook for class and possibly some new pencils. At least this trip wouldn't be in vain if she came back with something right?
Slowly she made her way inside the store taking in her surroundings to figure out where she needed to go. It wasn't until she passed an isle where the writing utensils were that she saw a glimpse of two toned hair. For a moment Mitsu paused feeling that the sight was familiar. Where had she seen that before?

Hel tugged on a dark braid as she stared at the paper. Parchment, orange print, fancy black print paper, paper with little souls running along the edges…they really had a wide selection here, but she still didn’t know what to pick! She couldn’t be frivolous with her seeds either…
The reaper pulled on her braid again, pausing, and suddenly swiveled on her heel to face the ghoul who had paused to look at her. It was eerie how Hel seemed to have a radar for “potential friends”, and as soon as she laid eyes on the mask wearing Mitsu she broke out into a grin. Oh ho! She recognized her from Junko’s booth at the festival! If she recalled correctly, the treats she was trying out happened to be sabotaged by gnomes. “Hey!” Hel called out to her down the aisle, and immediately started making her way towards the shy ghoul. “I saw you briefly at the festival!”

Oh! She had been spotted. Mitsu wasn't sure yet if that was a good or bad thing but why the way the ghoul smiled Mitsu wasn't too alarmed. Yet. Her loud call had Mitsu's ears twitching, however. There was no way her greeting could not be heard.
"H..hello." Mitsu responded softly a slight tilt to her head. "Ah the festival!" Mitsu finally put two and two together. "You were at Junko's booth. You had your hair done." Yes, now Mitsu remembered. It was all coming back now. The ghoul's hair had looked so nice afterwards too. "How are you?" Mitsu went on to ask not at all bothered to keep this social interaction going.

Hel marched down the aisle, her arms swinging back and forth with a purpose until she stood right in front of Mitsu, still grinning widely. “Indeed I was, and you were trying gnome infested treats!” The reaper pointed out cheerfully. A dark hand then shot out at Mitsu for her to shake. “I am doing well friend, thank you for asking!” Whether Mitsu was bothered or not by this social interaction wouldn’t matter to the reaper, sadly.
“My name is Hel!”

"Eh heh...y..yeah. The taiyaki. I had one with dirt." Sadly though it wasn't the dirt filled one that had made her sick. It had been the one with normal filling in it that had upset her stomach. Chocolate was not good.
While Mitsu wasn't above a hand shake she wasn't as quick to thrust out her hand as Hel was. Looking to the dark hand offered her for a moment Mitsu reached out tentatively to take it, her slender fingers grasping Hel's hand lightly to shake.
"My name's Mitsu." The lycan added in return. "It's nice to meet you." The word the girl used though. Friend. She already called her friend! It made Mitsu's heart speed up with excitement. Had she already made a new friend just like that?

“Rotten gnomes.” Hel muttered with a frown, looking at the lycan sympathetically. She'd happily punt the next one she saw.
That topic was easily smoothed over though. Where as Mitsu shook her hand shyly, Hel firmly enclosed her fingers around the ghoul’s hand and shook firmly before letting her hand go. Back to her hips her hands went, and she rocked on her heels briefly before settling once more. “Mitsu.” The reaper echoed with a firm nod of her head, “It’s a pleasure to meet you as well!” She then jerked a thumb back at the paper. “Are you here for writing supplies too, friend?”

There it was again, the word that made Mitsu's eyes light up behind her mask. "Yes, I'm here to pick up a couple of new notebooks and some pencils." Classes would be starting again soon so she needed to be prepared to take notes. Hopefully those notes would make sense later unlike the ones from Sex-ed.
"What have you come to pick up?" Mitsu asked curiously moving toward some of the items she needed.

“Ah, I see!” Hel echoed, taking in more details of her newest friend, eyes lingering on the mask she wore that obstructed a good portion of her face from view. The reaper wondered what the point about that could be and briefly recalled a bit of ‘reasoning’ Mot had told her once. Hmmm…maybe the lycan wanted to keep her emotions hidden from her enemies? Made sense! She let the subject fall away for now in favor of following after Mitsu.
“Me? Just some stationery for some letters and writing utensils!” Lots of writing utensils. Did Hel fail to mention that? “So, Mitsu, what year are you? How long have you been here for?”

"Oh, for letters?" Maybe she was writing back to her family. Mitsu could imagine that to be enjoyable.
"I'm a first year but I've been here for a couple of months." So much had happened in a short amount of time too. "Did you just transfer in?" Mitsu asked looking back at the winged reaper with interest. "I ..I don't know that I've seen you before."

“Yes!” The reaper answered with a firm nod of her head. “I was going to sit and write a letter to my sister…er…sisters and family, but I realized I didn’t have any paper.” That, and her pen supply was running dangerously low. Seriously, she didn’t know how they all kept disappearing…
“Oh I see!” Yet another student who had been here for a few months! At least a lot of the student she met were first years though, just like her! “Indeed I am, friend!” Hel answered readily, looking over the paper stock once more while Mitsu looked for that she needed. The first time they both laid eyes on each other was at Junko’s booth, and it had been short and brief due to how hectic the entire event was.

"Sisters?" Mitsu wondered what it was like to have sisters. She imagined it would be fun though she did have fun when her brother was around. He always did his best to look out for her, though, as she had gotten older he had distanced himself a little. "How many sisters do you have?" Mitsu asked curiously picking a notebook at random and holding it close.
And it seemed Hel was new! "Welcome to Amityville then." Mitsu couldn't help her tail beginning to wag. Hel's use of the word 'friend' just made her gleeful on the inside. "I hope you have fun. There are a lot of nice people to meet." She had made a lot of friends herself, more than she ever imagined she would.

Oh boil! Get the valkyrie on the subject about the siblings, why don’t you?
“Yes, sisters!” Hel echoed once more, reaching out to grab a pack of parchment first. “I have eight older sisters, and I am the youngest, so there is nine of us valkyrie daughters in the family!” The reaper then reached out for another pack of stationery that was orange and white with hints of black throughout. “How about you, do you have any siblings?”
“Thank you kindly!” The ghoul appreciated the welcome, looking over Mitsu and blinking as the ghoul wagged her tail a bit. How…cute! “Oh, I’m having a lot of fun already.” Hel assured, “But I agree, there are many great comrades here!”

Eight sisters? She had eight sisters?? Trying to imagine one sister was hard but having eight? "You have a really big family." Mitsu sounded amazed shuffling her things in her arms before reaching to grab a pack of pens. The thought of having such a large family, it filled her with a sense of awe and perhaps a touch of jealousy.
"Yes, I...." Mitsu had started too soon with her answer about siblings and her voice trailed off realizing that answer was now wrong. Her tail stopped in its wagging drooping slightly as her ears folded back. For having her face covered her emotions were pretty easy to read. "I...I did. I had an older brother. Ginji." And she missed him dearly. He had been a means of support for a long while and then he had up and vanished.
Trying to perk up as the valkyrie continued, Mitsu looked over the eraser sets they had. Little bats and pumpkins so cute. "I've been having fun too. The festival was really enjoyable I wish we could have gotten to know each other a little more then." But the festival had ended rather...traumatically.

“That I do!” Hel replied, noting with amusement that a lot of other students she was meeting seemed to come from smaller families. There was Lizzy and Mot being only children, Mac only having a younger sister. While Mitsu couldn’t grasp the concept of a large family, it was the opposite for Hel. The reaper couldn’t grasp being part of a smaller family. She also watched with interest as Mitsu took a pack of pens into her arms.
Speaking of family though, maybe she should stop asking! First she made Lattice sad asking; now it appeared she made Mitsu sad as well! Hel frowned, concerned, as a free hand reached out and held onto the lycan’s shoulder in an attempt at a comforting gesture. “I’m sorry to hear that, friend. What happened?” She was rather curious…and maybe talking about it helped? She hoped?
“Ah, as did I, but we’re here now, yes? Best to not keep your head turned to the past, as you’ll miss what is coming in the future!”
