This...was not her doing.

The immediate vicinity seemed to be littered with fallen Noblemen, but it was little more than a handful, cluttering the narrow walkway. There wasn't any blood, for which the Legionnaire was deeply grateful for, hardly wanting to walk into a bloodbath when it came to Nobles - or Lunarians at all. Li kneeled next to one of the fallen men, calloused fingers pressing to his neck to seek a pulse. It was there, but thready, indicating the man was out cold and likely would be for some time to come yet. The Legionnaire bit her lip, glancing around at his companions: three more, all in the same state of disarray, suffering minor cuts and contusions but nothing life threatening. It was a fine job, an impressive battle by whomever had encountered them, but it wasn't something the young woman could take credit for. On her nightly rounds, she had found the four Lunarians sprawled out beneath the high moonlight, not a trace of their attackers in sight.

Not that a gaggle of Legion would be hard to spot, but she, a lone wolf on her rounds, was not worth the fuss of a fallen troupe. Standing, she brushed her hands off on her skirt-bottom and picked up her eku, not really wanting to be caught unawares and unarmed. It was one thing to be caught in battle for one she had earnestly felled, but this...

Nobles, she thought to herself with a shake of her head, slowly righting herself. You wouldn't be laying flat on the ground if your faction didn't exist. There's always someone bigger and meaner out there... Sighing, Li briefly touched an earfin before slowly looking around again. She knew she had to move on - there could be more where these guys came from - and she didn't want to be the one to take all the credit - or the blame - for such a battle. Even so, it was not in her to simply leave her kinsmen to suffer if she could help. Li was no healer, but surely...she might be able find one? Or at least someone who could look after them -- even to lure another Noble to the stage to tend to them. Her thoughts were interrupted by a slight tug of her hair, a warm breeze drawing her attention from the fallen.

Looking briefly upwards to the moon, she felt a small chill down her back despite the warmth of the evening. It was full, bright and orange - like the eye of Lunaria Herself watching. Li wondered what type of omen that would herald, giving her yet another pause. It wasn't the smartest thing, given all the alarms and red flags going off in her head to move move move! Yet still, she stood in place, attention somewhere between the high moon and the low men.

The night had been quiet as Liarae made her rounds, doing her duty to the nobles. She had heard a few fights but not once had she made it in time to join one. At least with her chain slung over a shoulder she could fight, the problem was finding one.

With the moon full, shining down on them as it was, she had no trouble seeing. Keeping her guard up Liarae turned a corner and saw a girl standing over four bodies. Four noble bodies. From this distance she could not tell if they were alive, but she recognized them, and she did not recognize the girl standing around them. She was a Legionnaire.

Anger rose in Liarae, at herself and at her enemy. She had not even heard this fight, and yet the perpetrator was still standing there as if enjoying her victory. She would settle this now, but what were the right words? Keeping her mouth shut instead, Liarae walked up to the Legionnaire girl and faced her.

She heard the crunch of light footsteps on the earthen ground, prompting her to turn and face the female approaching her. Li knew it would be too much to ask that her company be of Legion origin, and indeed, by the angry look on her youthful face, she now had a very displeased opponent on her hands. Adjusting the wooden weapon in her grip, her amethyst eyes flicked over the other's chain, feeling a tightness in her gut. That would pose a danger, but so too would delaying any further.

Li knew shouldn't just explain what happened and went on her way. Even if she did not fell the four by her own hand, it was her faction's doing and she had to stand by it when the sun was down. Feeling the thrum of adrenaline pick up her pulse and loosen her limbs, the Legionnaire adjusted the eku in her grasp and offered a brief, if not politely terse smile. "Shall we then?" she queried, tapping the flat end of the oar against the ground. She might have been Legion and her opponent may have been Noble, but that was no excuse to fight like a coward. With her intent known, the lotus-haired brawling bent her knees and sprung out of the middle of the fallen troupe and towards the chain-wielding femme.

Swinging the head of the eku overhead towards the Noble's shoulder, she was trusting in her momentum to carry through the attack. She'd have to test the other's capabilities before she set about showing what she was capable of.
