The day had started out full of apprehension for Caelyndei as she had made her way to meet Wai and the young pride leader to be blessed before the stargrove. The new couple were to be bound in union today and her stomach was all in knots. Would she mess up her vows? Would Waikiki accept her gift? The more she seemed to worry, the more worrisome things appeared to get! As the ceremony began under the twisting vines that looped across the mouth of the forest edge a blanket of ashen clouds had rolled over head. It was the straw to break the camel's back as the fretful lioness resisted the urge to burst into tears. Why wasn't anything going right for them? Were the gods opposed to their marriage? Though not devoutly religious by any means, Cae had to wonder what it all meant. Seeming to sense her distress, the Wanidatsi had calmly reassured the bride to be that the coming rain was a sign of good fortune. It wasn't called the Rain Ceremony for nothing! Doubts and fears aside, the ceremony went smoothly, leaving the pair to enjoy their newly wedded bliss. The flower Wai had presented to her still bobbing with every step as it was tucked up in the crease of her ear. Pressing close to her mate's side as thunder belted across the sky like a whiplash and without any more warning the rain began to fall. A heavy, instantly drenching downpour.

The wedding had been elaborate. Beautiful he would go so far to say. He hadn't noticed his brides anxiety about the rain. He had taken it as amusing, those threatening clouds, because of his love of water. He was like a fish, in the wrong element. His mind stopped thinking about the wedding, now that he had his bride in her- no, their den. He was happy, happier than he ever thought he could be in his entire life. He had thought all he needed was freedom. He hadn't realized he also needed love..her love.
The thought had him cuddle up next to her a bit more, to offer his warmth and bulk as a safe haven for her. He wanted her to feel protected, because he would protect her. He would be her blanket and her sky.
"I think the gods are smiling down at us, my darling."

There wasn't much time for introductions right now, it seemed. Caely had planned to take her mate on a tour of the Shadow Clan grounds to acquaint him with their territory, though she doubted it was much different from any of the others. The rain saw to it that there would be no tour today. Perhaps it was for the better though. Instead of sharing Waikiki with the others from the very start, she had a chance to savor him for herself. At least for a little while, long enough to enjoy their newly blessed union for certain!
Happily nuzzling her rich brown pelt against him, Caely was content to groom his muscular frame, licking at his striking pelt. Pale like the sands of the beaches he loved so dearly--and equally as drenched at the moment. The den that had once seemed too large and empty now felt just right and the comely little lioness was glad for the soft furs that she had been collecting from her kills since arriving in the Ela. They made a perfectly plush bed for the pair. Hopefully it would prove to be an equally comfortable place to nurse newborn cubs when they finally were blessed with a litter.
All and all, Caelyndei simply hoped that the den she now shared with her husband felt as inviting as she had tried to make it. Doting green eyes lifting towards Wai from where her tongue grazed his shoulder obviously distracted, pausing to ask.. almost hesitantly, Do you... do you like it.. here?

He had been lost in thought, thinking of her warmth against him and how lucky he was. But when she started grooming him, he turned his blue eyes to her, staring down into her emerald ones. She was so beautiful. He was positive she was the prettiest lioness on earth.
He accepted her nuzzling and licking, and lowered his nose to nudge her jawline. Nibbling her ear gently he chuckled.
"Why wouldn't I? Where you are is home. There's no question about that." He said, his tail flicking near her to wrap around her.

Crinkling her nose, soft ears twitched against the playful nibble, forepaws stretching out ahead of her as she lay comfortably upon her belly and leaned, slanted against the warmth of Wai's body. Well.. I hoped you wouldn't.. I mean.. wouldn't not.. like it. I think that's right.
Musing to herself a bit sheepishly, Cae laughed and rubbed her face on the pelt pressed close, breathing in his wet scent and feeling rather foolish. There was a faint taste of salt on her tonuge and she wondered if he'd been near the ocean recently. Thinking about him always seemed to ease her easily rattled mind, murmuring to him though her words were half muffled by the body she hid against. I'm just.. not sure and I want you to like it.
Maybe she would take a trip to the beach some time and collect shells to decorate their den with. Little things that might add Waikiki's personality to their home and further inspire the idea that they were both a part of it, because Caely was very little without him.

"I like it very much, my dudette. If I didn't, well.. I wouldn't not like it. I promise." He grinned and winked at her, licking at her around the neck in his own grooming fashion. Lying down next to her, he curled against her with his body, tossing his arm over her and looking at her sideways.
"I'm with you. We're married, and we get to try to have cubs. How does it get better?" He chuckled.

Reeling backwards to crane her neck in order to gaze up at him, Cae expressed her skepticism in an comical glance, brows raised as if to suggest she thought him a liar. Not in a harmful way, but rather the kind of liar who tells his wife he loves her dinner, when in fact he happens to think that gazelle meat is tough and stringy. But you would tell me if you didn't, right?
She was amused honestly. Wai had never seemed the sort to attempt to say the right thing to appease anyone. Her suspicion wavered as she was tucked into his loving embrace, rolling her eyes and snorting rather boldly at him with a giggle. You better not just try! I want lots of cubs!

"I'd tell you in a heartbeat, Caely. I wouldn't let you go thinking I liked something if I didn't. I'm just awesome like that." He responded, his blue eyes gleaming in jest. He'd of course tell her if he didn't like something. The male had always been anything if not honest. He was just the type to tell it how it was.
"You of course want lots of cubs. You're in luck though, I'm kinda hoping for our own little army." He grinned with a purr.

Maybe some females would have preferred to have been lied to, but then Caelyndei had never proven to be most females. If she didn't know when something was wrong, how could she possibly fix it? It was a philosophy that lay deeply rooted in the troubles she had watched her own parents endure. If it could have been called enduring, considering they had parted ways when she was barely an adolescent. Sighing quietly at that particular memory, when her eyes cleared and she found herself gazing up at Wai again, instead of looking into the past, she could only smile at him lovingly. I'm gla--pfft! What?!
Snorting rather undaintifully at Wai's sudden statement, she burst into a chiming fit of laughter. An army?! Well, that certainly conjured rather unique images of their future family. Humming with amusement as she stretched up to lick his muzzle, still giggling the whole while. Well.. seems like a rather daunting task, but I'm up for it if you are!

He grinned, his voice going to a low rumble as he sort of shimmied his shoulders. Leaning down to lick her neck he spoke in a low husky whisper.
"Then I think we'd best get started. Lots of work to do." He said, and nudged her jaw before nudging her with his nose.

It was hard for Caely not to fold into her more typical demeanor of being a rather shy sort of lioness, particularly when faced with the sultry frequency of her mate's voice. For all her playful banter, she was a modest creature by nature. Blushing through her fur at the suggestion in Wai's tone. A hopeful gaze drifted towards the mouth of their den, but the rain had yet to let up, leaving a soupy puddle right at the entrance where strings of water dripped from the roof. Looks like they really would be spending the rest of the evening inside.
Accepting the offer of his affectionate lick and encouraging buffet of his large head Caely turned her face to bury into the thick mane that guarded his neck. It was still hard to wrap her head around the idea that this handsome male was hers, forever. Tail flicking to brush against his own, she steeled her spine in order to find the courage to speak up in coy protest, despite the heat in her cheeks, I don't know what sort of lionesses you've been with in the past.. but I.. I promise it won't feel like work, when you're with me.

"You don't have to tell me that, darling. I know you aren't work. I'm going to enjoy this. Believe me." He purred, same sultry tone he had just started with. He loved her, and would give her his world.
"And I promise that I'll be the best thing to ever happen to you. I'll protect you, and care for you. My wife." He said, snuggling into her.

As if Wai hadn't already stolen her heart long ago, with their first meeting and that strange, swaggering dance he had approached with, there was nothing else that he could have possibly taken from her with his loving words. She belonged to him heart, mind, body and soul. Tongue clucking against her teeth almost as if she were scolding him for speaking such nonsense. Yet as her slender frame arched invitingly in offering to her beloved from where she lay upon the furs, there was nothing but absolute adoration in her voice for him. You already are the best thing to ever happen to me, my husband.
