No. This was definitely not a door she was looking forward to knocking on. Nevertheless, she knew this fight would not be won by chatting with friends and having pleasant experiences with those who already feel she would best suit the position. She knew that the majority of this fight lay in convincing those who needed convincing.
And Mac definitely needed a little convincing.
So, Riley was now at Mac's door, rapping gently against it with the back of her knuckles. She took a deep, calming breath, and prepared for action.

Mac was understandably hesitant to answer his door. In light of recent events he was pretty sure that answering his door could quite possibly be the last thing he does in this world. So for an exaggerated few moments, the knock remained ignored.
Until a little voice in the back of his mind told him it could be important, or maybe someone he actually liked. A few moments later and the door was creaking open in an almost hesitant manner, the hatless Reaper peeking out into the hallway. Who was...Oh. Her. Riley. Wonderful.
Maybe he should have ignored the voice in his head.
"Yes?" He said simply, trying to not sound too irritated lest she join the 'End Mac' revolution.

Mac's understated greeting brushed past Riley without any reaction. She expected it - and she expected this to be a hard sell, all the way. That was why her expression remained formal, and gentle. Good afternoon, Mac. You look well. Could I have a moment of your time to speak with you? I promise, I will be as brief as possible.

The Reaper gave her a rather suspicious look, pretty sure that the Demoness was up to absolutely no good. But...she was in the Reaper dorms, and she was promising to be brief...Hrm. No, the urge to tell her off and slam the door in her noseless face was still too great. If he did, and it got back to his ghoulfriend...well, that was more trouble than it was worth. With a grudging, heavy sigh he nodded, but made no move to open the door further, or to actually move in general.
"Alright, fine." The but it better be brief was pretty implied with his tone.

Riley stood in the doorway, staring for a good few seconds. He was.. going to make her stand out here, wasn't he? The urge to chastise him for his bad manners at not even considering inviting her in had to be pushed down, down deep. As it was, the few seconds of silence were clear enough that she was more than a little shaken.
She did not respond well to rudeness.
Well. That's. Good. Thank you. Could I, ah, trouble you to let me do so inside? It would feel somewhat.. impersonal, discussing these matters in public.
If she had teeth, she would have said these words through them gritting. Luckily, she did not.

"Oh, so it's important?" Mac sounded surprised, staring at the Demoness who really seemed like she was straining to not yell at him. Which was okay with him; Jack, let her explode. He'd enjoy seeing that! The psychopomp considered her request and was quite obvious that he was doing so, and eventually pushed open the door to his room, stepping aside to give her the space she needed to get in.
He didn't offer a seat for her; if she wanted one, she could get it her damned self, but even if she wanted to her choices were limited. It was either stand, sit on the bed, or move the snoozing brown scareon and her pile of sleeping pups on the chair...which probably wouldn't do over too well. Mac himself leaned back against his desk, arms folded across his chest.
"So. What did you want to discuss?"

Riley did not need to sit down. She was grateful enough that he agreed to let her inside, however long it took to debate the choice. When she closed the door behind her and moved to stand in front of him, her expression was gentle, and friendly. It was an effort.
Thank you. I appreciate it. I have come today because I know I am not your favorite person, and I would like to put your mind at ease. You see, you deserve to feel at least a little comfortable with the person who represents you in Student Council. I want to be that person, and therefore I want to make you feel a little more comfortable with me.
Her eyes slit, just slightly. I understand that is not an easy thing. I'm not asking for your friendship. I am asking for you to tell me what you would like to see your Student Council president do, so that I have a better idea of how to best serve you. That is my goal, after all. So. Any suggestions?

Mac had suggestions.
Among them was 'leave me alone' or 'leave the school' or even 'don't run for council'...but he imagined those were counter productive and she seemed pretty intent on running even without his endorsement. It was also a good thing she wasn't asking for Friendship, because that was something he was very unlikely to give. Not that he was any more willing to be comfortable around her, though. At least she understood that he didn't like her, and admitted a grudging respect for coming to talk to him anyway with this knowledge. Hrm...so with that in mind, maybe he should, you know, give decent enough suggestions.
So he looked thoughtful, pondering to what he could say to her, and in the end shrugged.
"I haven't been here long enough to know whats not being done compared to what just isn't offered, but..." He scratched his jaw, pointedly looking away. "I do know that the current President is mostly MIA, so...my first suggestion is to, you know, do your job if you win." Which was something he really shouldn't have had to suggest, and while he was pretty sure he didn't need to, she was asking for suggestions. He considered other options, mainly the circumstances of their unfortunate meeting. Ah!
"Aside from that...I want you to find out what's going on, you know, from that uh, field trip? I think we were all too stunned to ask questions, I know I was, but...I think if you win, you should ask what we didn't, and tell us." Because it was kind of their lives the school was gambling with, after all!

She really didn't expect much from Mac. In fact, the most Riley had hoped for was for him to simply accept she was a better candidate than Barth. The lesser of two evils; she would have taken it. She let out a breath of a chuckle at her first suggestion, but her eyebrows rose up high when he mentioned the field trip. She truly did not expect to find herself on common ground with the reaper so soon.
It's funny you mention that. She breathed out, and her entire demeanor relaxed. I was speaking with the student who we brought back from that island, before I came here to speak with you. She told me a few things that have made me want to do exactly that. I promised her I would be scheduling a meeting with the Headmistress to discuss that island in detail, and I plan on doing just that. I suppose it was her that first made me realize how blind we've been to the situation. And now, you're confirming it.
She nodded firmly, and felt just a little more solid in her plans. Consider it done. If there is anything to be found, I am determined to find out about it. You can count on this.

It seemed Riley already had that part under control, and even Mac had to admit that it was good to have someone like her on the side of the students. While the Headmistess had given them some information, it wasn't enough. You didn't just throw students into a dangerous situation and dangled a tiny piece of information in front of them! A little piece of cake just wasn't enough!
"That's really all I can think of from you, to be honest." He shrugged, rubbing a piece of his sleeve between his fingers. He had thought that he should ask about the pictures taken at Prom; he was still convinced that someone had taken a picture of his kiss with Lizzy, but he imagined that not every picture went through Riley and even then...if she didn't know, he didn't care to answer questions.
"Anything else?"

RIley frowned at his abrupt closure of the conversation, and dipped her head forward to face him closer. Mac, I'm a very stubborn woman. And it's difficult for me to just accept that you don't like me, without some attempt to rectify the situation. So, really. Isn't there any way you can see past all that dislike and actually get to know me? Or, are we just..
She sighed and shrugged.

"Don't like being completely popular?" Mac raised a brow, scratching lightly at his nose. To be honest he didn't really pay attention to her social circle mainly because it was hers, but he imagined if she was this dedicated to making amends then she was either friendless or had too many. It was just easier to assume the latter, Prom considering.
"Who knows...I guess it really depends on how stubborn you really are." To date, the only pair of Demons that had gotten through his probably misplaced anger, and both were stubborn in their own way.

Oddly enough, his answer gave her hope. It was obvious by the gleam in her eye that it was all she needed. Ah. Good then. Because I am a substantially stubborn person. So I will simply never give up on you, Mac. And one day, perhaps. you will see a different side of me.
She backed away, giving him a soft nod. Not today, I'm afraid. But some day. Shall I leave you to it, then? I did promise I would not take up too much of your time.

"Great." Was all Mac had to say to that. Stubborn demons were everywhere, but apparently only a handful of them tried to deal with him after being subjected to him...he wasn't sure what he felt about that. With a couple long strides he was at the door, doing probably the most gentlemanly thing for her to date: holding the door open for her.
"Good Luck." He murmured, black eyes focused on the hallway.

Riley paused at the doorway when she heard him wish her good luck, and peered at him with a penetrating gaze. It was helpful that he wasn't looking at her when she did it.
Have a pleasant evening, Mac. She murmured quietly, as she slipped out the door and left the reaper dorms for the evening.
