The moon hung high in the sky, providing an eerie silver light to read by. Its glow was cast over the entire city for not a single cloud hung in the sky. It had been a few days since her encounter with Ares, and ever since then she'd been on the lookout. She wanted to be prepared the next time a certain abomination in princess' clothing decided to show up again.

With pages of information spread out before her, Kallichore knelt in the middle with a pen in one hand. She'd been writing furiously on one paper, only to put it down and pick up another to edit. Her primer was still in its infancy, but was growing with information by the day. The Jovians meeting one another, plus meeting with others who would perhaps become part of the court gave her access to information she wouldn't normally have. Ares provided the most up-to-date entry on corruption, false prophets and general evil.

She tapped her pen against one stocking'd leg and narrowed her eyes. Things were becoming intertwined, little by little. Obviously the bigger picture was still a ways off, but every little snippet allowed them to view the entire war with increasing clarity. Perhaps one day they'd really understand what was going on.

He frowned to himself when he realized he was doing it again. The stalking, that is. She must be rubbing off on him somehow, and he wasn't sure if he liked it or not. He knew it was imperative for them to get along, especially if this thing with the Jovians was going to work, but he certainly wasn't thrilled about adopting any of her practices to do it.

Then again, he was getting better at finding people when he needed them, so maybe he shouldn't complain.

He knew he'd behaved badly at the meeting, had perhaps overreacted a bit to the revelation that Kallichore had once belonged to the Blood Moon Court he so despised the idea of. Part of him was convinced that she'd deserved his anger; the other part -- the responsible, more mature part he'd been struggling to put forward as of late -- knew that it had been wrong of him, in that situation, to shout so hatefully when so much was going on.

After all that he'd said to her before about finding some sort of compromise, he wasn't doing a very good job of living up to his own ideals.

He approached her quietly, though he didn't bother to try and conceal his arrival any more than that. Once he felt he'd drawn close enough, Ganymede sat himself in front of her, outside of her ring of papers. He didn't say anything, just sat there and watched and tried to come up with some way of explaining himself that wouldn't draw them into another argument.

He was tired of the arguing. He was tired of a lot of things, but the arguing was up there at the top.

At first, Kallichore didn't even look up. She recognized the boots immediately, with the lightning bolt and the laces. She knew it was Ganymede. But what he wanted then, she wasn't sure. Scribbling a few things onto her latest entry, she replied. "Yes? May I help you?"

There wasn't any animosity in her voice then, just professionalism. Truth be told she had no idea what he wanted to say to her other than something about lying, or withholding the truth. Something about being a creep or a bloodthirsty psychopath. Whatever it was, it would be loud and acidic. Of that, she was convinced and prepared accordingly. Her shoulders even tensed if one could see that clearly. Her fuku certainly did a good job of hiding movements of the upper torso well enough.

Papers rose and fell through her rampant scribblings. Kallichore was desperate to put to paper everything she'd learned in the past few weeks, hoping it would put an end to some of the questions the Court was having. She wanted to educate them and get them all up to speed. An educated team was far more dangerous than people would give them credit for.

They had things to do, asses to kick...

He did his best not to bristle at her brisk, unemotional greeting, telling himself he deserved it, even if, deep down, he'd felt justified in what he'd said before -- and still did to some extent. He let himself frown deeper, but other than that he had no reaction, except to bring his arms up across his chest, but he didn't look quite as defiant as usual. To a careful observer, he might have looked as if he were holding himself up, giving himself the strength he needed to do or say whatever it was he'd come for.

He wasn't entirely sure what it was, himself. He merely knew he couldn't let things continue the way they'd been going.

"I shouldn't have reacted like that," he said, "at the meeting. It wasn't the place for it and the others definitely didn't need to see or hear it. It should have been between us, it shouldn't... it shouldn't have been like that."

He wasn't sure how else it should have happened. Privately, after the meeting, maybe, though he couldn't say that would have been much better. It could have spiraled into something worse without anyone else there to keep it contained. With others present, he'd lost his steam quickly. Europa had needed them to set a good example, and Ganymede knew that he and Kallichore -- as the first two supers of the Jovians and as the second two of Jupiter's moons to awaken -- had a duty to the others to present a unified front. If they didn't, how could they expect this rag-tag team to work?

"I won't apologize for being angry," he continued stubbornly, "because that was a big thing for you to keep back. Whether you've left them or not, that connection and that reputation are still going to reflect on us, and I don't like it. But it was wrong of me to cut you down in front of the others when you'd already... when you'd had a rough time with... with them..."

"...what?"

Her reaction was genuine shock. Looking up, Kallichore had an apprehensive stance about her, as if she wasn't believing what she was hearing. Surely this couldn't be Ganymede. Maybe he was drunk, or replaced with a youma like she thought at their first meeting? She blinked a few times and pondered how to react to this. She was expecting more acidity, more vile remarks. Kallichore didn't once think she was undeserving - on the contrary, she rather thought her actions spoke louder than any apology and when it came to the Blood Moon, she'd made a grave error of judgment. She thought Ares was going to be to the one to lead them to victory, but it was not meant to be. Victory, to Ares, meant forced corruption and insanity. Kallichore really only disagreed with the first one vehemently.

The super senshi rolled her shoulders back to sit in a more friendly position. "To be honest, Ganymede," she started, looking down at the concrete of the roof they were sitting on. "I don't blame you for being angry. It just didn't occur to me at the time to really explore my options. If you care at all." Her last statement was more of an apology than anything else. She wanted to be a part of the team as much as anyone else, but felt her previous reputation tainted her ability to be productive to the Court. So much was hanging over her. "Ares saved my life. I thought I was doing the right thing by joining her side and training as hard as I could. I wanted to be better, like she used to be."

A bare hand pushed back a few errant strands of early-gray hair. "For what it's worth, I haven't killed anyone. I haven't tortured anyone, unless you count my attack. But I can't help that." She chuckled quietly, hoping it really did seem like the joke she thought it was. "I know this doesn't make what happened right but... I am determined to walk the better path now. I see where I went wrong."

Ganymede was surprised to find that he could be somewhat understanding as Kallichore explained herself. No, he didn't agree with her choices, nor did he agree with the methods of the Blood Moon, but he could understand, in a way, why she'd joined them, if it was anything like the way she said it was.

The influence of a single person could be a strong pull, and infatuation made it difficult to see the bigger picture beyond.

"Valhalla means a lot to me," he said. He was sure it seemed random, but there was a point to it. He was trying to let her know that he sort of understood without straight up admitting that he may have jumped to conclusions -- because of course he couldn't do that. "I know who he is, outside of this, I mean." And he motioned between them as a means of bringing attention to their current forms. "He doesn't know who I am, but... it's enough that I do. I didn't have anybody before him. I kept to myself. I didn't let people close, but when I found out who he was, I realized I didn't have to be alone. I wasn't alone."

He forced himself on, despite the nagging voice in his head that was telling him he wasn't making any sense. "I can't say for sure what I'd do if he ended up being a part of something like what you and her... I mean, Ares... were a part of... but I think I'd probably follow him, because, in a way, having him come around when he did... it saved me from being lost in all this. It's made it easier, and I don't want to lose that."

Glancing awkwardly off to the side, Ganymede felt his face flushing lightly. He probably sounded like a sap, and he wasn't even sure if it was right to compare his circumstances with hers. He didn't know the full extent of what had happened between she and Ares, but even though Val hadn't saved his life, he'd saved a part of it. Just knowing who he was and having that connection held him up and kept him going.

"That's what I want with the Jovians," he told her. He felt a little uncomfortable discussing such things with her, and picked at the lace on one of his stockings for something to do. "We're in this together. I don't... I don't want any of us to be alone anymore. I don't want anyone to feel like I did... like they had no place to go... I'm glad you haven't killed or tortured, I'm glad you've decided that this is the better way, and... I know how much it sucks to be betrayed like that... to just... have someone you believed in and trusted walk away and... and change..."

Memories of his mother came to mind, of her retreating back, but he refused to let them get to him now, and he pushed them away.

She tilted her head at the mentioning of knowing Valhalla's true identity. Indeed, he was the only one aside from Tallulah that knew hers. "I'm glad Chris means a lot to you. He and I... well, we happened upon each other's powers purely by accident, but I've kept his secret very closely." Kallichore meant that statement out of respect, and only mentioned it because Ganymede knew his identity too. Never once had she told anyone that she knew Valhalla's civilian self. Who he could have told about her own identity was a moot point - hardly anyone knew her as a civilian anyway. "He's an excellent person, I think. I'm glad you have him to lean on." He's an excellent choice.

The gray haired senshi leaned back a bit as if to stretch, eyeing the papers scattered all around her with disinterest. Suddenly they seemed infinitely less important now. "Even when I was with the Blood Moon, I felt... alone. While it was very structured, there wasn't much interaction. What kept me going is the thought that maybe I'd mean something, that my contribution would be acknowledged and praised. I thought that having a kind of lofty goal would keep me going, because if you stop and think about it..."

Her voice trailed off into a self-steadying sigh. "...it's really all overwhelming."

Somehow, in the space of that moment, she wondered if things had taken a slightly different turn, would she have ended up in this position? Would she even have to face Ganymede and the Jovians? If she were anyone else, would she have walked the same path as Ares? "No, I'm different because I chose not to go down the easy path. I chose not to throw myself into oblivion because things got difficult. That was Ares' problem. She's weak, self-centered and completely insane." It was almost said to herself, but Kallichore didn't care if Ganymede caught wind of what she was saying. It was more to help bolster her decision to leave the Blood Moon and to stay on the straight and narrow, if that's what this was.

Her fellow Jovian admitting that he understood a betrayal on that level meant a great deal to her. "We are in this together." she repeated, a hand covering her face. "...we don't have to be alone anymore." Perhaps Europa was right - good things may yet come of this. Only time would tell.
PostPosted: Wed Aug 24, 2011 10:45 pm

He wanted to be angry that there was another person who knew Valhalla's civilian identity, but he couldn't find it in him to do so at the moment, and he felt he should have expected it anyway. Chris was so fickle about it. It was almost like he didn't care sometimes, the way he powered up and down in front of just about anyone. Ganymede was waiting for the day when Chris powered up in front of the wrong person. If Chris didn't end up being killed in that instance, Ganymede would be glad to do it for him.

Instead, he paid close attention to what Kallichore was saying, and was relieved to note that their feelings were, in certain ways, more similar than he'd thought before.

So he wasn't the only one who'd felt alone. Somehow, he'd thought others had had it easier than he did. Knowing that that wasn't the case bolstered him. It was sad that both he and Kallichore should have felt like that, sad that it was even allowed. That wasn't how things should be at all. Even if there couldn't be complete unity, no one should ever feel as if they were in it alone, not when there were so many of them.

"We can make our own goals and contributions," he said. He didn't yet know what those goals would be overall, but he knew what he wanted to do, and he was willing to try and find out what he had to offer to make that happen. "We don't need to follow anyone else, or depend on anyone else to show us the way. We can make our own way, and we can find other people who'll join us. We don't have to be the one's scrambling behind everyone else, trying to find a way through it all."

Because it was overwhelming. He couldn't argue that. He didn't know what to do half the time, and before Val, before this thing with the other Jovian moons had started to get underway, he hadn't had anyone to turn to. Just himself, and he wasn't the best person to turn to at all.

He was genuinely happy that Kallichore had taken some of his previous statements to heart, judging by the manner in which she was speaking to herself. That was good. That meant they were getting somewhere.

"We can be stronger than that," he agreed quietly, not wanting to interrupt her if she was in the middle of some sort of epiphany, but wanting her to know all the same that he was completely serious about what they were endeavoring to do. He waited a few moments, and then looked at the papers she had scattered around her. "Is this all your information?"

The fact of the matter was that the Jovians provided a sense of security and stability to an otherwise disorganized chaos on the senshi side. One of the factions within their group was now torn asunder thanks to one parallel princess. Truth be told, Kallichore wanted to leave that group long before Ares decided to descend into oblivion, but she told Birhan she would be there for an operation and wasn't about to back out of her word. Some operation that ended up being. Maybe she shouldn't have gone at all, but hindsight was always perfect, wasn't it?

"It will be better this time, I think." she started, keeping herself in a sitting position on her legs. If she sat down fully, she thought, her exhaustion may overwhelm her then and there. "We have each other and we're speaking like equals. There's no corporate ladder to climb and no secret meetings to have. No special red cloaks for the privileged few. That always drove me crazy - we're all supposedly equal and yet absolutely not. But that's a moot point." Kallichore shook her head to rid herself of that train of thought. It wasn't doing anyone any good right now.

Moving on...

She blinked, scooping up some of the papers into some semblance of organization. "I do wonder what the Court will decide as far as goals will be. I think it's a group decision to keep us all on the same page. Something incredibly less... bloodthirsty would be a nice change of pace." She was about to say 'violent' but there was something cathartic about defeating someone in combat. Lately though, the idea of chasing someone down in the heat of peaked adrenaline just didn't sound very appealing at all. "False prophets be damned. Did I tell you she came to me just a few days ago? Ares? Tried to tell me that I needed to be saved and that then I would be worth something. What filth and lies." Kallichore would have loved to spit on the princess to prove her point, but had decided then that doing so would be a death sentence. She'd rather escape with her life and a dent in her pride than anything else.

"The papers? Ah, they're my skeleton primer. Something I was working on while in the Blood Moon. I tried to get information out of them, but no one aside from Birhan seemed at all interested. A great deal of what I have comes from various sources - Europa, Polaris, Birhan, Juno... But yes, this is all my information. Would you like a page?" She had everything from Chibimoon to Elysion to the latest bits about Ares. Nothing was alphabetized yet. Sadness.
PostPosted: Thu Aug 25, 2011 11:23 am

Ganymede took one of the pages to slowly scan over it, seeing names he recognized only by hearing about them from Kallichore, and information he'd only ascertained because he'd sucked up his pride and gone to find her. He had to marvel at it, how much information she'd managed to gain in a shorter amount of time than it had taken him to realize that information was exactly what he needed to make everything easier. If he'd come to his senses months ago, perhaps they could have worked on it together from the start.

"I wouldn't mind helping, if you wanted," he offered. "The sooner we get all this information sorted through and compiled, the easier it'll be to come up with some clear goals. How many of us really know all this anyway? You and Europa seem to be pretty up-to-date, but I don't know about the rest of them. Pasiphae's got a lot of potential, and the two pages... I don't know Babylon as well, but if he knows the right people... and Val has some other connections, too, I think..."

The more he thought about it, the more he began to wonder if it were perhaps a good thing that many of them had come from different backgrounds. Europa had been around the longest and had no doubt encountered quite a bit before any of the rest of them had come along, and though Ganymede didn't like that Kallichore had once belonged to the Blood Moon Court, she at least had the benefit of the information she'd gleaned while among them; she had her experiences with Ares, an insight that may well prove valuable. Pasiphae seemed as if she were on the right track as far as knowing what it meant to be a senshi was concerned. The newer ones he wasn't too sure about, but he was certain they'd all come together in due time.

He just had to be a little more sure about himself. He'd spent so much time running away, it was hard for him to think of himself as being as useful as any of the others.

"I don't know if I know anything you don't," he said. "I probably don't. I didn't care to pay much attention when I first awakened, and then I was sort of fighting for my life, so... it was hard to process a lot of things. But if you ever had any questions, I mean, I guess I could do my best to answer them. I think I awakened before you, didn't I? You weren't around during the dream battles..."

"You already do know some things I don't," she explained, watching intently as Ganymede picked up one of the pages of the primer. "You know more about the dream battle because you were there. I've only been awakened for a few months - hardly any time at all." Kallichore scooped up a few more pages and organized them alphabetically. Right now, they were all handwritten and somewhat messy. Eventually, she would take to typing them to be more easily legible and duplicated. Perhaps they could somehow digitize it all and send it through the senshi phones? Keep everyone on the same page as an educated front?

In her mind, Kallichore was convinced that Ganymede knew other things she didn't and had almost constant access to that kind of information. "I've been hearing that our past lives show up as ghosts or memories when we visit our moons. You know things about the past as well, I think. If you think it's necessary, I would like to know about Ganymede in the past. It's one of the larger moons so it had to have been important, right?" She knew a little bit about Europa based on what was said during her and Tallulah's last conversation, but it was nothing major. None of them knew what caused the entire universe to die off, but Kallichore had her theories. No doubt the Negaverse was behind in it some fashion.

She nodded when Ganymede mentioned the others. It was true - the entire Court had potential, each unique to the individual member. She thought that was an excellent way to run things - let everyone have equal say and take inventory of who knows what, who can do what and all that. "The more connections we have, the better. We can call on others to help and be called upon ourselves. It's good PR, I think, with the added bonus of more information that we ourselves cannot dig up."

Things inside her were calming down for the better.
PostPosted: Fri Aug 26, 2011 2:05 pm

"Yeah, but I didn't understand much of what was going on since I'd just awakened. At that point, I really only knew who the bad guys were supposed to be," Ganymede said, eyes scanning over the page of information in his hand. It had all seemed like a dream anyway, once he'd woken up from them, though it had definitely been real at the time that they'd occured -- a nightmare come to life. It had made things very confusing and far more difficult to process.

The past, however, was a much more intriguing prospect to him, and he jumped on the topic when Kallichore brought it up. "I've only been to Ganymede twice so far, once by myself and once with Val, and I went to Europa once before that. I didn't see anything on Europa, but on Ganymede... there were... flashes of things. I don't know whether to call them visions or hallucinations or what, but I saw people and heard music and people whispering my name."

He wished he knew more than that. He'd only just come to recognize his past self appropriately the last time he went, but it had all been ghostly images without any snippets of conversation to bring more understanding to what he was seeing.

"It seemed pretty prosperous. The castle there is huge, and I know there were parties. I don't know how important I... er, Ganymede, was..." he corrected himself, not wanting to think of the young man he'd seen as himself, because he wasn't. Not really. "And I don't know what happened to destroy the place. Parts of the castle are pretty intact, but the town is completely demolished and there isn't anything living there anymore, no plants, no animals. I haven't seen any of the others like Europa's seen me. I'll have to go back some time soon and see if anything else comes up..."

He wondered if the answered lied there, if he'd ever see the truth of what had happened to leave their worlds shells and skeletons of what they used to be, and force them all to converge on Earth as their last refuge.

"I don't care to live there again. Earth is my home now and I want to protect it, but maybe we can learn something from them, about ourselves, about what happened before, and figure out how to keep it from happening again, and maybe one day Earth won't be the only place that holds life."

"Really? You've only been there twice and seen so much? That's fascinating." Truthfully, Kallichore hadn't seen much in the several time she'd visited her own moon. There was a dead ocean, leveled villages and a small temple she'd seen, along with one large grassy field and a woman. That woman she kept seeing... but who was she? "People whispering your name? Perhaps you were a very popular individual back then?" Or he could have been the subject of intense rumors, but somehow if there were parties and music... that just didn't seem right, despite the fact that Ganymede's sphere kind of warranted it.

The senshi of lust also confirmed another suspicion Europa had explained - one can only have visions while on one's own moon, not on any else's. "There is a castle? I would like to see that someday." Being that Ganymede was so huge in comparison, the castle must have been magnificent in its heyday. Who knows - the castle may have been able to swallow the whole of Kallichore by itself. "I know very little about my moon despite being there... what... four times? Five times? I don't remember." The senshi tapped her chin in thought. "All I know is that there was once a small sea and several small villages... and one great grassland. It's still alive up there, somehow. I'm not sure how it all works. I haven't seen any of the others, or rather, if I have, I didn't recognize that's who I was looking at."

Ganymede had confirmed his past self was male, and Europa said her past self looked a great deal like her present self. So who was the woman Kallichore kept seeing on her moon? It couldn't have been Ganymede or Europa. "I do agree with you though. I think the answers to a lot of things lay in the past somehow. Perhaps these visions will give us a clue as to what happened to the kingdoms and what caused them to die.... and how to stop it from happening here on Earth. It's like our last bastion."

Simply admitting it was hard enough - knowing that there were countless civilizations out there that were wiped out in the blink of an eye... it was overwhelmingly terrifying. Kallichore knew she'd do her best to prevent the last planet from ceasing to live. She didn't want to have the disaster happen again if she could prevent it.
PostPosted: Sat Aug 27, 2011 9:17 pm

Ganymede was sure he could have seen more if he'd been able to stay long enough for the memories to become more than vague flashes and whispers, or if he'd been alone last time instead of with Valhalla -- not that he minded having him there, but he couldn't lie and say the page hadn't interrupted a couple of the visions. The next time, he would have to return by himself to discover if he could see anything more when unobstructed by company.

"Well, we'll figure it out eventually," he said. He wasn't sure if the confidence he expressed in that statement was real or not, but it sounded like it was, and he figured seeming confident was all that really mattered at the moment. It was better than giving up without trying. "Hopefully some of this can help us," he added, motioning to the work strewn around her. He picked up another page to scan over, then a few more, trying to help her organize things.

"So what's the next step? You've got all this information and you've look it over. I assume you told me most of it, I also assume Europa knows it all, or could even add more. So... do we just make a digital copy of it all? Put it in a computer and send it out to the others? Or do you still need to talk to more people?"

He had to just sit and stare at the amount of information she already had at her disposal. He could only imagine how much work had gone into it, how many hours she'd spent finding people, talking to them, thinking of the right questions, and then writing it all down. It made him feel somewhat inadequate, knowing he hadn't done much of anything worth noting, at least not anything that could potentially be helpful to anyone or change the course of the war, and he couldn't pretend as if he wasn't disappointed in himself. No, he didn't have any desire to make a name for himself, but he didn't want to be worthless either.

A performer he might be in his civilian life, but on this side of things he preferred to do more behind-the-scenes work.

Once several piles were created, organization had been achieved. She nodded to his suggestion of typing it all up and digitizing it. "Yes, I could take it all home, transcribe it... After that, I'm not sure how to send it out other than through email, but that seems rather dangerous. We don't know how skilled the Negaverse is when it comes to hacking. I'm not sure I'd trust it." Kallichore flicked her wrist and brought her phone into existence, looking it over with a curious eye. "Perhaps we could send it out through these phones?"

The technology of the cats seemed nigh impenetrable when it came right down to it. Kallichore hadn't been able to figure out how the phones came apart, if they did at all. "I've never done a mass message before, but I don't see how it couldn't be done somehow. I would think this would limit the information to senshi only and not allow anyone skilled enough with a computer to access it. Some of this information should be kept for senshi eyes only, I think." No doubt the Negaverse already knew about Chibimoon since she was once on the side of Chaos. If Ares was on the dark side as well, an alliance could be formed. It was hard to tell at this point.

"If I can get more information by talking to people, that would be fantastic. As it stands right now I think the primer is as complete as it will be for now. Updates can always be made later as we discover things." She shrugged, finding the idea of learning from the past a more fascinating subject at the moment. If Ganymede found out anything that could help update the primer, then more power to the both of them. "Do you think this will help? All of this information? Or it is too overwhelming?"
