Trembling hands clenched the document, almost to the point of tearing it. Cyan eyes scanned over the fancy font over and over and over again. Ameria just couldn't believe it. Her day had finally come; the day she was accepted into Makai Academy. She had waited and practiced a long time to get into the academy and finally, finally her time had come.
Ameria walked with a bounce in her step and a smile playing on her lips to the boat house where her parents were.
"Mom! Dad! Guess what came in the mail today!"

She took a deep breath and stared at the large school. She knew that it might not have any classes on the weekend in store for her, but she wanted to get her introduction to the school over and done with. Ameria's hands were still trembling from earlier. For so long now, she had wanted to go here and train herself to become stronger in both the physical and mental aspect. Her goal to become an Ars Lilium was slowly coming true and it made her so happy. Though her legs were shaking as well, Ameria wandered onto the grounds and took in everything.

It was beautiful around Makai Academy. The flowers and trees that decorated the surrounding area with various colors made Ameria's eyes unable to stick to one thing at a time. Her cyan eyes darted around to take in everything possible. And yet, with all of this observing her surroundings Ameria failed to even see a hint of the other girl who was there. A very cranky looking, brown haired girl.

Without warning, Ameria and the girl headed into a head-on collision. With a thud, she fell head first into the other's forehead then bounced backwards and landed on her backside in pain. Slowly, she pushed herself up from the ground, low grunts escaping her lips. Once she realized what had happened, Ameria scrambled up to her feet and went to the side of the girl.

"A-are you ok?! Oh, I am so very sorry!" she said with worry in her voice.

User Image There was something she never quite understood...

Aquene stood still, staring at the Academy's buildings, twisting and turning, forming something that is supposed to help people achieve greatness. The sun was rising to embrace the buildings in a kind of warmth, that looked... Oddly inviting. The odd glow seemed to hold the school in some sort of glory, some glory that Aquene didn't know how it could possibly hold. "Too many goody-two shoes come out of here," she thought with a frown.

The only place she hated more than the academy was her ex-home, which was saying a lot. She had suffered a great deal with her so-called family, and none of the people she met at the academy felt any better. Aquene took a deep breath, feeling as though it would be her last breath near the school and feeling as though she was breathing out all of the negative things that had happened here.

As she turned around and was ready to walk away, a black and blue haired girl managed to run into her, sending her to the ground, landing on her left hand. Looking at the mess the dirt had made on her, she lifted up her right hand, ready to throw a small fireball at the girl. Aquene was flushed with anger and saw that it was just a Witchling and not some 'defender of justice' wanting to take her down, so she relaxed, a little, and pushed herself off the ground.

She brushed some of the dirt off of her dress and sleeves. Aquene was ready to walk away before she heard the girl speak; it was slightly amusing to hear the worry in her voice, and it was hard for Aquene to hold a straight face. Her eyes were glaring at the girl, but a sparkle of mischief was in her eyes as well. Crossing her arms across her chest, she responded to the girl. "No, actually. That hurt quite a bit." Aquene looked away with her snobby nose up in the air; she could not sense Majin in the girl, and was even more willing to tease the girl.

"Are you so new to this academy that you can't even recognize another person? A graduated one at that!"

Ameria's head hung in shame as the other girl got up and began to scold her. Well, it sounded like a scolding. She clasped her hands together and bowed her whole body.

"I'm so very sorry, miss! I didn't mean to bump into you on purpose! I'm truly sorry!" she said hastily as her body bowed over and over again, disheveling her wavy, two-toned hair. While her head bounced, the star fish hair clip began to come loose. eventually, it flew out of her hair. With a frightened gasp at the girl's next statement, Ameria was completely oblivious to her prized possession being separated from her body.

"Y-you're a graduate?!" Her shy voice raised some and was laced with excitement. Ameria was too shamed about bumping into the girl before her and too excited hearing that she had met a graduate to notice the snobbish air about her.

"H-how is it being a graduate? Are you an Ars Lilium? Perhaps a Reaper?" She babbled on with several questions that ran together and became garbled. In mid-sentence of a babble, Ameria clasped a hand over her mouth as her cheeks filled with red, her shy nature kicking in once more.

"I'm sorry, it's just been my dream to go to this school is all. Is there anything I can do to make up for bumping into you?" Ameria asked as her hand slowly removed itself from her lips.

User Image When Aquene heard the girl speak again, she was wide-eyed, staring at the bowing girl. She tried hard not to laugh. "Is this girl for real?" Not once had she seen someone act like this. "If only this girl was a Majin, I could probably persuade her to train to be a Witch Eater...

Aquene was trying really hard not to laugh out loud; it wasn't that what the girl was doing anymore, but more so how many times she continued to do it. Even for apologizing, it seemed a little extreme. When the pin the girl wore flew out of her hair, she couldn't help but laugh. Aquene went over to the pin, picked it up and held it in her hand as the girl seemed to babble away. She let out a sigh before she answered the girl.

She frowned as the girl seemed to be completely new, to both the school and seemingly the ranks of the area. It also occurred to her that she didn't mention Witch Eaters on her list of third tiers. It irritated her a little bit, but said nothing, not wanting to explode on the girl.

"I'm a somewhat recent graduate. I guess you could say I'm in training for third tier. Let's just say, for myself, being out here is a lot better than in there," she said as her face pointed in the direction of the academy.

Aquene kept looking at the girl until she stopped mumbling and asked what she wanted to make her feel better. She twirled the girl's pin in between her fingers. "What about this?" She was half-teasing when she spoke. "You're going on and on about stuff that you seem to have forgotten about it anyways..."

Ameria immediately shut herself up as she felt the flush of red consume her face and begin on her neck and ears. She listened closely to the brunette and watched her movements carefully. It wasn't until she had even given word about her star fish pin that Ameria noticed it had removed itself from her hair. Surprised, she reached up to it's perch and felt around as if to make sure she wasn't imagining her pin in the girl's hand.

"Wh-what?! M-my pin?" she spoke with a crack in her voice. "But that's- But I-" She pressed her lips together and nibbled away at her bottom lip. It was her pin that her father had fashioned together for her when she was little. It was very special to her. If it wasn't so special, Ameria's desire to please people would probably have given it away right then and there. Cautiously, she held out her hand. It shook a little as she outstretched her arm towards the girl before her.

"May I have it back, please? A-anything but that.... It's special to me..." Ameria spoke in her shy voice which had quieted down once more. Her other hand reached up to her semi-loose hair and tucked it behind her ear as the blush began to fade away.

Aquene fiddled with the pin as she stared at the girl. She had watched the girl's emotions change from completely excited and happy to one that seemed to withdraw into herself. Normally, Aquene would be glad to see someone cry, but oddly enough, she felt sorry for the girl. Aquene said nothing, but moved her hand with the pin up to her hair as though she was going to put it on, and then she stopped, her hand going the other direction.

With one hand, Aquene pushed the girl's bangs back, and the other hand secured the pin in place. "I was kidding," she said with a slightly devious smile. "What would I do with that anyways? Not like I like that thing better than my bows!"

Putting one hand under her chin and the other arm across her chest to hold it up, she started to joke again. "Hm... Maybe I want more than the pin..." She looked into the sky and thought of something that would be more 'special' than that pin. A devilish smile came slowly on her face when she came up with the idea. Her eyes however, still held that glint of mischief. "How about your soul instead of the pin?"

Ameria was unsure of what to do. She simply stood there, sort of confused and curious as to what the girl before her was thinking. When a hand brushed her bangs back and put the pin in place, she flinched a bit. That action wasn't expected at all. When the girl removed her hands, Ameria curiously watched her.

"M-more than my pin....?" she asked as her own fingers played with a loose strand of her two-toned hair. The girl's next sentence scared her. Her soul? Was she serious? Millions of thoughts and questions raced through her mind about this girl before her until one thought stopped all the dizzying garble. A small smile popped onto Ameria's face and she began to chuckle, her way of laughing.

"O-oh, I get it. It's a joke. I see...." she said during her chuckling. Her face slowly faded back to normal from red - when did it get red and hot in the first place? - as a hand made it's way up to her mouth. "You joke a lot, don't you miss-" The girl's name? What was her name? Oh right! They hadn't introduced their-selves! She cleared her throat and held out her hand.

"My name is Ameria. And you?"

"All I hope is that this girl says nothing and keeps my image in tact..." Aquene herself was somewhat surprised, both at her own action and the girl's reaction. "Is it a good or bad thing that she repulsed at my touch...?

She let out a sigh as her feelings were a little bit mixed up. Aquene knew that for the longest time, she didn't touch nor did she like to be touched. Many times, she very much scared people into staying away from her. She turned around, the Academy safely behind her; Aquene didn't feel safe there and she knew it. The reason why she was so desperate to get out was because she wanted to find somewhere she did belong.

Aquene didn't answer the 'joke' part, being half kidding and half not. A chilly wind blew by and all Aquene wanted to be was away from where she was now. "My name is Aquene and I am a recent graduate of the Academy."

Without looking back, she pointed at the building. "If you're looking for a tour guide, I don't think I'll be very good at it. I know the place well, but it makes me uncomfortable." Aquene pointed again, this time towards town. "I wouldn't mind going that way right about now. That's where I was headed before 'the incident'."

"You're free to join me if you wish, but I guarantee nothing about getting to know the town. I've only wandered there a few times..."

Ameria smiled at the girl's name. She finally knew it and it was rather pretty. She then watched Aquene's hand point in the direction of the academy, then the town. There was an offer to join her in town but... Well, Ameria had plans today at the school and needed to get everything done. Politely, she shook her head at the offer.

"No thank you, Aquene. I have things I need to do at the school. I'll find someone to help me around the school eventually." Ameria smiled warmly at the girl. "I'd love to see you again some other time, though. It was a joy meeting you." With a bow and a shy wave, Ameria pitter-pattered off towards the school in search of someone to help her get around.

'I hope I do see her again.... Aquene.... Such a pretty name....'
