So, here's the thing. We're looking for another dog so that our Dachshund who's eleven can have a friend.
My mother is deathly afraid of bigger dogs, as she has been attacked twice by them. She won't buy anything bigger than a Beagle, it can't be to hyper and it has to be easy to train. We want another dog, maybe another dachshund. Though she is afraid of bigger dogs, we have successfully had a bigger dog before. We just need a breed of dog that isn't to high maintenence and will help bring back my moms love for the Kanine companion.
What breeds do you guys have and what do you think I should get for her?
All dog stories of you own are most definatly welcome! biggrin
(And by the way, I am obsessive over my dog, cause he is basically my spoiled son XD)

What about a bichon frise? Don't fluff it up like a poodle, the scruffy look is really nice for them. One of the best things about them is that they have hair, not fur, so they don't shed. They're not all that hyper, and they don't bark at all hours. They get along with people that they see that you get along with, but they will bark at people at the door. They can be trained the basics easily enough; we trained it to do its business outside after only a few weeks and bark when he wants to come back in, but we haven't really tried teaching him tricks yet.
Ours does some really cute stuff when he's begging for food; like "casually" placing his paw on your knee. He'll voluntarily sit in your lap every once in a while, especially when it's cold. Ours is considered the big one of his litter, but he's only about 2 feet tall and 4 feet long including his tail. And they keep their big puppy-dog eyes all their lives.
I love my Toby. heart

Plus the hair, not fur thing is the best cause the we all get the sniffles...XD Are they much up-keep? They are positively ADORABLE, by the way... =) Thanks!

Just food, water, treats, bath stuff, and a place to sleep (not necessarily a dog bed, could just be a space on the couch, the foot of your bed, or a cleared area on the floor). They look rustic enough when you don't fluff them up all show dog-like. Keep them clean and relatively flea-free with baths once or twice a week. They can be somewhat light sleepers. Basically, they're awake when you're awake. When they're left alone at home, they usually just sleep. They can get lazy indoors when there's always someone home, but they get all playful after a bit of time outside with a tennis ball. Oh, and they quickly learn the words "treat", "walk", and "bath".

You are the apple...
My grandma and I had a pomeranian for about 10 years. He just ran away a month or so ago, probably to go off somewhere and go off peacefully as he was quite old. But he was an adorable and loving dog, not much maintenance besides baths and my grandma would cut his hair during the summer.
and I am your core.
