Kytara had forgotten to eat again. Or rather, she was so consumed by her writing that everything else became unnoticed. Like her need to eat. Which explained why she was quietly padding into the kitchens at so late. Not quite past curfew, but definitely at an odd time. She glanced around to check that she was alone. She didn't think that she could handle the social interaction at the moment. She was still trying to cope with walking away from the sands unbonded again.

Mine! It is late! Why are you out late? You will get into trouble, and then we will not play! I will not talk to you if you get into trouble. I will be very upset! Lunath's warning sounded loud and in clear even though she was not with him. T'rel was still adjusting to sharing his mind, and though he still couldn't quite speak to her telepathically like she could him, he could focus on emotions or feelings. Hunger. Thirst.

I will not talk to you if you get into trouble, Lunath repeated sleepily. The green was fond of repeating herself, but not so fond at having to scold hers. She was just as eager for adventure and seeing new things as hers was--but now was time for sleep. They had played long, and learned much. Why was hers not tired?

The weyrling made his way to the kitchens, hoping there'd be something. He hadn't eaten much supper; Lunath had kept distracting him and insisting on attention.

She jumped as the door swung open behind her, scrambling to find a place to hide like a weyrbrat caught trying to catch a peek at the eggs on the sands. Very slowly she peered out from behind the wall she had pressed herself against to see who it was that had come in. She was sure it would be the headwoman, and that she'd catch hell for being in the kitchens so late. It wasn't, but it was a face that she vaugely recognized. She shifted her weight as she tried to put a name to the face. He had impressed this past time, but the familiarity went back beyond that, she was sure. She was so deep in thought that she didn't notice as he moved closer to her -not so substantial- hiding place.

T'rel caught someone pressing themselves against the wall in the corner of his eye. It certainly wasn't the Headwoman, and it wasn't one of the kitchen workers--for surely they would have scolded him for coming in so late, instead of hiding. He went to investigate. "Hello," he greeted the shy candidate with a smile. "You're Kytara, aren't you?" He was good at remembering names, but not so good at remembering whom those names belonged to.

"I'm Tar--T'rel. Shards, that's going to be hard to remember." She seemed familar, in more ways than having probably worked with her at one point or another. "Shells, but you're familar. I can't quite place it..."

She jumped again as his voice disrupted her thoughts. His nearness stole the breath from her chest, rendering her speechless for a long moment. She was sure that she had been well hidden. Her gaze dropped and she focused on her feet as she thought of how to respond. She sufficed by simply nodding in response to his question. As he mentioned her familiarity she stood a bit straighter and ventured to look up to meet his eyes. "I was thinking the same for you."

T'rel paused in thought, still not sure where he had seen Kytara before. "I grew up at the Harperhall," he began, hoping to calm the girl down. She seemed frightened, and he couldn't imagine why. Was he frightening, now that he was a dragonrider? He didn't think so. Did he have something on his face? "Maybe we met there?" She seemed familar... Like someone he'd seen for turns and turns, and never really paid much attention to.

She didn't seem the friendly sort, so maybe that was why he had trouble placing her. "Were you coming to get something to eat?" he asked cheerfully. "Me too. I thought they might have something in here to eat." He glanced around, perhaps hoping for some bubblypies. "I was just Searched a while before the Hatching," he continued cheerfully. "How about you?"

She pursed her lips in thought. A tiny smile curled at her lips as she heard the soothing tone in his voice as he tried -and mostly failed- to calm her nerves. At the mention of the Harperhall she perked up. "Really? That would have been very possible." She fell silent once again as he continued to ramble a bit. Eat? That reminded her. She turned a light shade of pink as her stomach whined at the mention of food. "I missed the last few meals, between chores and my writing. Mostly my writing." She visibly relaxed a bit, convinced that he was the friendly sort. "I was searched from the Hall myself. Close to a turn ago." She paused and shook her head contradicting herself. "No. Closer to a turn and a half."
