Name: Tabitha Cardell
Gender: Female
Age: 22
Height: 5’ 6”
Weight: 146 lbs
Picture: (in progress)
Brief Physical Description: Tabitha has messy bangs and long hair, all a strawberry-blonde color, which she usually puts in a braid to keep it out of the way. Her eyes are hazel around the pupils and greener around the edges. She typically wears a white T-shirt under a tan button up shirt that’s tucked into light gray pants, which in turn are tucked into tall, light brown combat boots. Over all this, she wears a dark brown jacket. It used to belong to her father so it’s a little big on her. She also wears a pair of brown leather gloves and a pair of green-glassed sun goggles that hang around her neck most of the time.
(not so brief) Brief Bio: Tabitha grew up in the town of Sanctuary, a small town to the Northeast of New Jericho that had been established with good intentions but had nowhere near the success of its southern cousin. If it weren’t for the fact that Tabitha’s father was one of Sanctuary’s deputies, she very well may have grown up in New Jericho instead. Her father would have preferred to raise his only daughter in a town that was relatively more stable, but his unyielding faith in humanity and his undying sense of duty and honor prevented him from quitting his job. Despite all the crime and corruption he saw in the world around him, Deputy Cardell stood by his post with the belief that humanity was worth saving and that anyone can make a difference if they try. These may have been the hopeful ideals of an older time, but he would carry them until the day he died in the line of duty. Tabitha was 17, and even if she didn’t have the same conviction as her father, Tabitha would never forget what he stood for.
Tabitha’s own faith in humanity was shaken though when her father’s friend, a fellow deputy and Tabitha’s designated caregiver, abandoned her to save his own skin. By this time, Tabitha was 19 and Sanctuary was falling ever faster into ruin and lawlessness, and the father’s friend, like so many others, had either fled or gone into hiding without a word, leaving Tabitha on her own. Despite this betrayal, she made an attempt to uphold her father’s beliefs by joining a small band of vigilantes that had formed in an attempt to help those few remaining lawmen manage the town. She knew that her father likely wouldn’t have approved of the decision to join the vigilantes as opposed to applying to the sheriff’s office itself, but she knew that to do so would have been useless. They wouldn’t have hired her, and she knew that sooner or later, the sheriff would leave just like everyone else.
It was in her time in this small band of vigilantes that she met a young man named Orion Pyralis. He had come from a different part of town, and they soon found that they worked well together on missions. Tabitha hesitated to open up to him, as she knew the nature of the task they had all taken upon themselves; any of them could die or desert at any point, and after being abandoned once by the only person she thought could help her at the time, Tabitha was not eager to relive that sort of pain again. Despite her misgivings however, she and Orion grew very close over the next couple of years, and things might have ended differently in another time, in another place.
As it was, the vigilante group decided to attack a small bandit camp between Sanctuary and New Jericho in an attempt to stem the recent growth in especially violent crime. These ‘bandits’ were just local thugs and punks who’d recognized the benefits of working in groups, but it was in numbers that they were strongest. Tabitha, Orion, and two others were to sneak close to the camp and eliminate the threat from afar. It all seemed too easy. Just when Tabitha’s group thought they had the bandits cornered, the second half of the bandit party returned from a scouting mission and came across the hiding spot of Tabitha’s team. Tabitha and Orion tried to make a stand, but outnumbered and outmatched in this close-quarter fight, the other two vigilantes made a run for it. With the addition of the bandits from the camp now, Tabitha and Orion were completely overpowered. Tabitha was captured, though not before watching her dearest friend fall at the hands of the enemy. Helpless and crushed, she could do nothing but struggle futilely as men were sent to hunt down the other two fleeing vigilantes. Then her world went black as one of the bandits knocked her out, leaving her to drown in the fear, guilt and betrayal of her unconscious dreams.
