Another job.. Except, this time, it wasn't by a paying customer. Unfortunately, for the pushover male, it was a unpaid favor by his sister. The male was on the ground as several boys and girls climbed over him, one even stepping on him with a flamboyantly-colored rubber crocs as they declared him the loser of the war. Kids ran around noisily, several circling the scene with cheers and shouts as the light-haired male fell flat to the ground.

"Ow, ow, I give! A dark overlord such as myself can never hope to win against the forces of magical girls and their hero friends!" Sedna was struggling to sit up, although one could see that the exaggerated effort he gave was concentrated on looking like a forlorn and dying villain. Presumably, the chopsticks or color pencils that each child held in their hand was a symbol of their heroic identities and the black curtain draped around Sedna .. Well, that needed little defining.

"You're all too much for me. Remember to put your magic stuff back or they lose their properties! Gremlins steal them and give you fakes." Sedna warned the kids, both hands reaching up to pull sticks and branches out of his messy hair. However, it seemed his warning was delayed as kids decided to pounce once more on the male without warning.

It was a long day for the male.

Sidra had been preparing a picnic lunch for the kids in the kitchen, cutting all obnoxious crusts off the sandwiches, and wrapping everything up in a heavy duty layer of saran wrap. It was definitely not the work of Jamie Oliver, or some other chef at large, but it would do for a bunch of rambunctious down-on-their-luck kids who had been dropped off at the community center that morning.

Piling the last sandwich on the trolly, Sidra began to push it out the swinging doors of the kitchen, blinking blearily as the sunlight hit her eyes after a morning inside. There were peals of laughter coming from above, and Sidra resolutely started manoeuvring the trolly up the hill.

It looked like the kids were playing their favourite game-- cops and robbers, cowboys and indians had been replaces by Sailor Scouts and the Negaverse, and the kids were having a high time crawling all over their vanquished enemy. The rest of the nominal staff had made their way up the hill, and were calling all the kids over to eat.

With a shriek, they erupted from the poor boy, and Sidra offered her hand to the black clad youth with a laugh.

"Rambunctious little devils, aren't they? They make me be a wicked witch every time we play."

Sedna gave off a pained grunt, when the weight shifted to his rib and the kids bounced quickly off to their latest source of energy. Unfortunately, the art of simply getting off was a hard one to master with several jabs to Sedna's not-so-muscular frame, wincing as they left. He needed to get up .. but there was something unappealing about standing up at the moment. Unless there was a fellow sympathetic comrade to aid him in the process. Suddenly, that made the prospect a little less daunting, to head back where the gremlins-in-disguise was gathering. Did someone feed them after midnight?

Sedna vaguely recognized her, as the one who had been prepping the food.

"Wicked witch? You? I see you've hidden your witchy demeanor well, it hardly shows." Sedna tried to give her a chuckle, his sore abdomen making laughing temporarily painful. It'd only last until the day was through, he was sure. Gratefully lacing his fingers with her smaller ones he took the opportunity to stand up and recover some of his wind. Peace had never seemed so far!

Ok, that was an exaggeration.

Swinging the black material over one shoulder, similar to a towel or a used shirt. The reminder of the cloth against his face forced Sedna to quickly disconnect from her supporting grip with an apologetic smile. "Sorry, I've been playing around on the ground and I didnt get a chance to clean up. So I've got dirt, sticks, twigs and who knows what else." He brushed away at his shirt and pants, head attempting to turn backwards as if to see if there was any dirt on his backside. Preferably, not on his rump.

A little dirt was nothing to the male. But teenage girls was probably an entirely different manner.

"Yes, I've become very good at concealing my green skin and warts, you can barely notice anymore!" Looking around, Sidra noticed that there were art supplies strewn all over the ground.

"They're really in to this whole "Sailor Senshi" business, aren't they?" Sidra remarked, stooping to grab a "henshin pen", a coloured pencil with bite marks on the end, "I've seen a number of tiny ones around town, even fighting; it makes you wonder what's wrong with the world."

Ending on that sad note, Sidra looked over to the boy, who was currently worried about the state of his clothes, while jauntily wearing a curtain as a semi-cape. It was just as much ridiculous as it was charming, and Sidra smiled at him.

"I'm Sidra Winters, by the way."

Tiny ones? Tiny senshi? Tiny kids parading as senshi? Why-- In what world could little kids even fight in? Outside of the playground, that is. For their sake, Sedna hoped it was inside the playground.

Aside from that .. The wicked witch had a name. Sedna hadn't really expected her to give him her name but now that he thought about it .. Introductions were better done during this pocket of free time they had rather than during class.

"Sidra Winters? Like the season? My favorite season-- It's the one season where you can legally jump off a cliff in a flimsy board and survive with a well-cushioned fall." Sedna bent downwards to help the female to gather art supplies, struggling to keep his "cape" as he gathered the pencils and items in a crook of his arm, tipping his head to gaze at the broken end of a pencil hidden under a leaf.

"Sedna Gardios. Official Overlord-- I hide my wings and horns well. Apparently, not my cape." Sedna looked at the black cloth with a pause and turned his gaze sharply back to the pencil.

"What's next after lunchtime? Naptime?" Sedna inquired, staring at the kids eating in the distance. His "cape" lowered in a sort of make-shift bag, holding up the ends in a poor imitation of a handle. His fingers brushed against Sidra's wrist lightly, plucking the pencil from her palm with a casualness that betrayed their brand new friendship.

"Who said capes are overrated?" Sedna winked at Sidra as he spoke, gathering the objects in the black curtain cloth. "Let me carry this -- This was why I was blessed with a cape with multiple functions."

"Aye Aye, noble overlord," Sidra countered with a smile, and scurried around picking up the discarded art supplies. It was rare to see a young guy volunteering with kids, especially one that seemed to genuinely be having fun, not just bribing kids with money in order to get them to do what he wanted. It was refreshing to see and he was doing his best to brighten her day. Or maybe that was just how he was. Whatever the case, Sidra was charmed.

"After lunchtime? Definitely naptime-- I think you tired them out pretty good," Sidra remarked, noting a few of the kids sleepily rubbing their eyes and eating their sandwiches lethargically. They were pretty much done, so Sidra deposited her pencils in to Sedna's cape basket, and walked up the hill, her pink converse leaving imprints in the sparse grass.

It was too bad that the community centre was going to seed so, what with the amount of money being funneled in to city-wide rebuilding projects. Everything was patchy and yellow, and what little grass there was crunched under their feet, dry to the bone. The kids didn't seem to care though, and Sidra supposed that as long as they could keep the centre running for the kids, the better.

Sidra had been feeling out of sorts as of late, and hadn't really felt like she belonged anywhere until she volunteered here a few months ago, and fell in love with the ease in which the kids accepted her, and befriended her. She just felt less awkward with them (which sort of betrayed how juvenile she acted sometimes) and felt strongly enough about their well being that she showed up the next day. And the day after that. It was nice to feel like people depended on her and she lived up to their expectations, as it was easy to keep kids entertained and happy.

"So..." Sidra started, gathering her cart again, rolling it down the hill behind the stream of children, "what brings you to the daycare? I haven't seen you before, but I do stay in the kitchen a lot more than I like; without my certificate they don't really let you work with the kids for very long, at least without supervision."

Sedna could have said the same for Sidra Winters-- What kind of girl was willing to get jam and jelly all over her outfit and converse shoes for the sake of kids and their meals? Definitely not the most common occurrence for a female teenager that could be spending her weekdays and weekends at the mall or in school. It was a pleasant change of scenery, especially when compared to the shopping outlets.

"Yes! Mission accomplished. Watch, they'll sleep for three turns like snorlaxes and get right back to attacking." Sedna referred to the famous system of pokemon, the reference being so popular worldwide, Sedna was almost sure she would have gotten it. He fell into line besides Sidra, his own shoes creating a matching rhythm of dried grass and twigs. Unfortunately, looking around the daycare, he hadn't started with such a noble motivation.

"Oh .." Sedna laced his fingers through his hair, tugging on his blue-white locks. "At the risk of sounding extremely pathetic, just between you and me.." He leaned in, a hand cupping one side of his mouth, shielding his words from curious ears.

"... One minute I was in bed and the next thing I knew, I was magically here. I suspect I agreed to something in my sleep.." Sedna frowned, in deep thought, as if a lightblulb had gone off. ".. Probably my sister. Most definitely my sister. Although the mystery of how all the arrangements were made complexes me." Sedna shrugged, shaking off his brief bewilderment. Just another job out of many to his schedule.

"That's doesn't mean that these kids here aren't my style. Just take out the bubble gum and I'll fit right in." Perhaps, an odd statement but to anyone working with kids .. They would learn that bubble gum could act as a deathly nuisance. Desks, clothes, hair .. Oh, so many targets.

"You?"
