User Image Helios wasn't used to the life of a nomad, actually, he wasn't used to any life-style that wasn't with his mother. He couldn't remember the last time he had ever spent longer than a day away from his mother and here he was, wandering a good forty miles away from her within three days. It was over due, both knew it. As her only child both were reluctant, but both needed to grow. He needed his own life, his own family, and she needed to re-start hers.

Now, he had never desired company before. Helios was a longer by nature, not because he hated people but more because people were drama. His mother was as laid back as he, and so he had never needed company before. Now? Three days without a living soul to speak to was a little harsh, and even he found himself desiring company.

So here he was, resting by a lake set in the corner of a forest. This was becoming tiring, he was almost about to quit and return home. If he had known how....silent this would be he would never have agreed to it in the first place. Ever.

Lux awoke to the breeze blowing across her charcoal gray coat. Her fur had matted after resting under these trees over night. She wasn't sure of where to go next, or if this "shelter" would remain safe. The scent of fresh rainfall covered the earth. Lux stretched and yawned, and proceeded to lazily wander and explore.

Now when Helios smelled the scent of a fox nearby he was almost tempted to get up and approach it. Almost. He wasn't the kind to approach people and he still preferred his silence, though he was finding that this silence was going on a little to long. He wanted to meet at least one person and speak to them, then he would be find for another few days.

"Tch." He sighed under his breath, deciding that the scent was moving closer so the possibility of him or her reaching the lake was high. He'd just wait here until then.

Lux picked up an unfamiliar scent. It was different. She was curious, beginning to follow the trail, but she was very cautious. She wasn't sure what to think of it. It could be a predator, prey, or even another fox. She decided that it was best to proceed, but as she felt she was coming close, fear took over. She had seen another animal. Something larger than her. She whimpered as her ears shot back.

The large male smelled the scent linger, ears flicking in silence. Was that a fear scent? Now Helios liked his alone time but.... He didn't like when people were bullied. How contradictory. For a brief second the orange male hesitated where he was, currently still debating his options.

Though the fear scent worried him, so he got up and forced himself ahead. A low sigh escaped him, not to pleased with having to move about. He had spent three days constantly moving, he really did just want a break.

Finally, he spotted a vixen with her ears pulled back, yellow eyes scanning her quickly. "You look like you've seen a ghost." Ah, small talk. He was capable of it. Sorta.

Lux jumped back a bit when she first spotted the male. He made a quick remark, and she tried to look menacing, bearing her teeth at him. She wasn't at all the aggressive type, in fact she disliked conflicts. When she realized that her attempt to strike fear into him had failed, she started pacing to her right, getting a better look at him.

As Lux began to strafe around this stranger, thoughts and questions swarmed about her mind. What did he plan to do to her? Was this her end? She knew she wasn't experienced in a fight, so if he was here to attack, she'd be hopeless. Then again, he seemed friendly. But she paused, her motion coming to a stop. She continued examining the male, waiting for him to break the silence.

As she began to flip through emotions quickly he wondered absently if she was erratic. He didn't move an inch, noticing she hadn't responded to him and taking this in. He was a smart fox and always thought before doing anything. She could be mute, or perhaps she was being cautious. Cautious? Of what?

Him. She was looking at him like he was a threat. He flicked his tail to the side, eyes glancing to the side and rolling back to look at her. Really, him? "What...are you doing?" She reminded him of a chipmunk currently and he was debating nicknaming this restless, erratic vixen just that. Chipmunk.

She began to feel her stress melting away a bit, for he seemed not to be a threat. Actually, he even seemed, almost friendly. She managed to shyly stutter out an answer "I-I'm... just... wandering...". She figured that this would state her business here, and was tempted to return his question. She thought about it. She didn't want to sound rude, or unfriendly... What if this was his land? She decided that she would simply return the question, hoping she could get a fair answer. She asked with as gentle a tone as she could manage, but she was still uncomfortable, despite his warm attitude.

He stared at her as she stuttered, raising an eyebrow. "No need to stutter. I'm not going to hurt you." He assured, knowing one way he could help assure her better. His name. People seemed to like it better when names were swapped.

"Helios." He said as if this was a fact she should know. "I am Helios." He glanced around now, searching for the thing or being that had frightened her. "I smelled fear, were you attacked...." Oh, he wanted to call her Chipmunk though that was rude. So instead he merely flicked his tail and sighed. Why was she so frightened of a sherbet colored male anyway?

Lux decided upon sharing her own name, but she realized she was about to stutter again. Realizing it may be rude, she shut her eyes for a minute and loosened up. She explained that she had stayed the night in light woods nearby. "I don't really know how I got here. I've lived in this forest for as long as I can remember. It's only been a few days, but I'm just... unsure."
She tilted her head to the side and glanced at the ground, contemplating a further statement. Shortly afterward, she said "I was frightened earlier because I figured I might have to fight. But... What about you? Where are you from?"

She was confusing at first, Helios wasn't used to such a nervous wreck of a vixen. She had even stopped for a second to close her eyes, which was best because Helios was becoming over-whelmed. Finally, she managed to level her voice, tail flicking to the side patiently as she spoke. Ah, a wood fox. She wasn't a traveler like him, then. Well... what was he? He didn't even know what to do with himself.

"I am from a small den a few forests back." Pause. "I recently left to find my own life." He eyed her, wondering if she was being honest, if all those stutters really were masking the intention to cause harm. She seemed to nervous to be real.
