(Samawati)
Gaaah! This was not how things were supposed to turn out.
The small group the twins had joined was supposed to have found a safe haven, a peaceful but well defended pride where he and his brother would be able to live together happily. They were supposed to have fun and make things livelier all around them, to train and take on a task within the pride, to find mates (eventually) and to be part of large community. They were not supposed to get involved in a war!
And now Hima was gone. Such a cowardly thing to do, taking a little cub like that right in front of her sister. He couldn’t even begin to try understanding how Jambazi was feeling right now, knowing that his little sister was in the paws of those… those… hyenas! He glanced at his brother for a few moments, doing his best not to think about the possibility of someone taking him away - but doing a terrible job at it.
“I think this is where Chamba said her sister was taken. Those bastards.” The blue-eyed twin said as he sniffed at the ground around him, a mighty frown threatening to stick permanently to his face. He growled to himself but his expression softened when he sought his twin’s pink eyes. “Waridi… do you think… she’s still alive…?”

Kombe was in no mood to listen to his elders, whether they were concerned about evil lions or not. He wanted a good look at a real lion, not a sissy little cub like the one living with Tundu in the cave. Once he shook his sister off, he snuck out of the graveyard and across the strip of no-man's land between the groups of animals to try and find a good spot to see some REAL lions, not like the little pathetic thing hiding in the den with Tundu.
Kombe kept low among the rocks until he caught site of two tan lions talking. They looked a lot bigger then the cub, but not near as big as the lion that had killed his mom. They couldn't be full grown yet.
