Demon had been running for so long that it was only a matter of time before he tripped over something, his body so weak after the punishment that Blood-Queen Lana'thel had installed upon him. His hoof tripped ove a root sending him realing forward before his head got stuck between the 'V' of a tree ahead of him. He pulled and tugged, scrapped his hooves on the bark in a desperate attempt to free himself.... nothing. Demon cursed under his breath, it seemed so wrong that after everything he had gone through to escape he was now stuck in the open like a sitting duck. Desperate not to give up he pulled and pushed harder, his neck rubbing up against the bark and he was sure it was causing several of his wounds to reopen... not that Lana'thel had ever let him truely heal before sending him to her arena once more. "NO... no....no...." He whispered, too afraid to raise his voice in case someone was watching him. It had been two days... or so he believed, since he had escaped, and Demon had only managed to find a few left over kills from others too weak to find his own, but it had filled a hole and allowed him to continue... still he expected that Lana'thel or her minons were after him. A shiver ran down his spine and he got the distinct feeling he was being watched, after being watched for so long it had developed as a defence mechanism. Demon tried to look around, but his trapped possition didn't allow much scope... he couldn't see anything but he knew all too well that that meant nothing. Had he finally been caught once more? A dark part of his mind whispered that it was only a matter of time.

Sofiel was examining the are in his smaller form, it wasn't quite as small as most flutters since he had a mix of unicorn blood but it was small enough to avoid the attention from those not looking for him. It was as he was exploring that heard something, the ninja within him couldn't simply ignore the noise it ruffled the fine hairs on his shoulder and neck.
It didn't take him long to find what had caused the disturbance, and from what he could see the young stallion was stuck. The wings on his back and the tail identified him as kalona but that didn't mean anything, Sofiel knew a few good kalona's.... he would be cautious though.
After watching for a while Sofiel finally approached. As he got close he shifted to his full form, again it was smaller than a regular soquili but larger than a normal flutter... the combination of his blood shining through once more. Stepping into the colts line of sight he simply remained silent, curious what the creature would do now that it knew it had been discovered.

Demon hissed and tried his best to wiggle free as the stranger came into view, from his stuck position he could only make out the blood and wraps around their legs, and the strange neckband around their neck.... it was enough to cause Demon to freak. The memories of all he had been forced to endure under Lana'thel came flooding back with such ferousity that he feared it would consume him. He growled, the noise feral and desperate.... he was stuck, what else could he do? It seemed almost foolish of him to believe he could have survived and escaped his 'master'.
"Get it over with," he hissed, voice harsh as his eyes narrowed to nothing but an eerie white glow. "....I know she sent you." Even if Demon had escaped he suspected he would have had nightmares about that mare for years.... but it seemed they would either soon be reunited or he would be destroyed for daring to disobey her. Either option seemed to cheat him, was it truely so much to ask that he was given a chance? Freedom?
A tear threatened to spill from his eye, after everything he had been through he was considering giving up.

Sofiel raised an eyebrow, the way the young stallion was reacting was not how he had expected... aggression yes, but it was almost pleading within him to end his misery. Sofiel looked at his body for the first time, the colt seemed to be covered in wounds and bruises, some were faded and old others fresh, scars littered his body as if he had been fighting hard for a long time.
Sofiel had heard of kalona's being harsh to their young, forcing them to learn to fight to survive or die trying... but this was the first actual evidence of it. He supposed that the 'she' he spoke of was his mother. Poor child... it was hard for Sofiel not to feel sorry for him, memories of his own hardened past lingered in his mind. Those of his tribe had fought against others, protecting those within their ranks that could not fight.... the longer the fighting went on the younger the fighters became. It was a crime against innocence and as Sofiel thought of his mate Sachiko he knew he would never allow his children to be treated so. "Calm yourself." Sofiel said, lowering himself to the ground so he could see the colt and the colt could see him.
His ears twitched every now and then in an effort to ensure they remained alone, Sofiel planned to help this creature... but first, he needed him calm. And Sofiel was nothing if not patient.

"What are you doing!?" Demon demanded, his kalona tail swaying from side to side as he gave one last attempt to wriggle his way free. Nothing happened but it had felt good trying. He glared at the fluttercorn, now able to see all of his features... Demon noted several weak points, another defence tatic he had been forced to develop. Long hair, fragile wings, open wounds on his legs. The list formed automatically as Demon's eyes narrowed once more. "Just kill me!"
Demon had never expected he would beg for death, yet as he stood, stuck and alone he found he would rather die here than return to Lana'thel's grasp... anything but that.

Sofiel watched and waited for the kalona youth to settle down once more, allowed his words to wash over him before finally speaking into the silence, "I am not here to kill you...... I would rather help you."
He paused again, green eyes focused on the trapped creature. "But first you must calm yourself." Calm was the key to survival in Sofiel's mind, it had allowed him to overcome situations that would have been considered impossible to those who panicked. But a calm mind could see through the haze and fog and see the truth of the situation before him. Instinct was telling Sofiel that what he was doing was right.

Demon growled... just calm himself? JUST CALM HIMSELF! Like he could do that. The words only angered Demon more, and for some reason the fact that the were spoken by a none Kalona grated on his nerves more than he would have suspected.
Still, as Demon pulled and tugged in an last effort to free himself he took in the stallion before him. He was covered in wounds, bloody bandages and scars... all signs in Demon's mind that he was in fact a minon of Blood-Queen Lana'thel, after all, she liked to play with her soldiers as if they were toys. He was a fluttercorn from all appearances, with a long mane and a pelt of browns and white.... as far as Demon was concerned there was nothing special about the stallion other than the fact that he could clearly fight to still be standing with all the wounds and scars upon him. Demon feared his own pelt would be mared with such scars as he grew from the punishment he had been forced to endure as a foal.
After what felt like an eternity Demon could fight against the tree that had caught him no more, and reluctantly he was forced to stop his efforts. Lungs panting from the effort, cheeks red from exhaustion... he had been running for so long, fighting for his life for too long, trapped for an eternity... and it seemed it was all having an effect on him -even if he didn't want to admit it. "I don't need your help...." He huffed, unable to stop the words.... Demon would rather not submit to another... EVER again!

Sofiel raised an eyebrow at the kalona, "Hmmmm.... I suppose that is a matter of opinion." Each of Sofiel's words were level and controlled partly in an effort to calm the beast before him and partly because he saw no reason to get worked up over this situation. He couldn't simply walk away and leave the young creature struggling alone, but nor would he aid someone without their permisison or at least co-operation.
His eyes focused on the beast, and in an effort to cool the air between them he said, "My name is Sofiel." He paused for a moment, debating if asking the Kalona's name would bring forth anger once more. Risking it he spoke once more, "Your name?"

Demon stared at the creature who had introduced themself as 'Sofiel'.... like he cared who delivered the final blow? It made no difference.... he would simply be happy to get his torment over with, no matter what form it took.... though he had to admit to himself he would have rather survived.
He tugged again, his horns scrapping on the bark but not really doing much else. He was frustrated and tired.... oh so tired.
Deciding he needed a little time to compose himself before he met his end he prolonged the conversation. "Demon. Though I am sure you know that..... you do work for that witch after all." He bared his teeth at the thought of her, the way her leathery wings would touch him in possession, the way her heart seemed to race whenever he won a fight.... she sickened him!
Glowing eyes stared into the emptiness of the dark pool of his memories.... would he ever escape them?

Sofiel said nothing for a while, simply watched and listened... what could he say after all? It was clear the Kalona colt had been through a lot, his mind tortured and still trying to sort its way out of the darkness and into the light. Sofiel couldn't help but feel guilty for a moment.... he had done this to others, back when he wasn't considered an outlaw and a traitor for his clan. He had also had it done to him, the scars digging deeping into his soul than any physical wound could.
And so... he gave him time. The name Demon seemed false, almost as if the colt was gifting him what he wanted to hear. Yet Sofiel knew that Kalona's were keen on using such names, fear tatics.... so it was hard to tell if it was a true name or not. Not that Sofiel would ever comment as such.
"That witch?" He eventually asked, curious as to what was going on in the prison of the youngs kalona's mind.

Demon remained silent for a long time, so much so that it seemed he would never answer. But eventually he did, his voice no more than an angry whisper. "Lana'thel...."
He was almost fearful that saying her name would summon her. He could never go back into her 'care'.... could never accept such a life for himself again. No! He would rather be dead.
Frustration and anger at his glaring weakness flooding forth once more he narrowed his eyes at Sofiel and spat out, "Finish the deed already. I am fed up with this life." He didn't want a life where he was forever looking over his shoulder. Forever fearful he would be taken again. Yes, he had grown strong during his challenges, grown mean and agressive like any Kalona should be and he suspected his own mother would be proud of the results.... but Demon refused to live a half life! He had almost imagined as a child that he would claim a mountain and fight and kill all intruders, that he would earn a name of fear and deverstation for himself, have children with a strong woman who could handle the beast within him just long enough to concieve his children.... but that was all a distant dream now. His life was a living nightmare.

Lana'thel? He had never heard the name before, at least not in that form. Though rumors had begun to surface of a demon mare who captured foals and other creatures of darkness on a whim.... was this pathetic young colt such a target? If so, Sofiel couldn't help but feel sorry for the poor creature. After all... it was not as if he had asked for it.
Yet Sofiel revealed none of his thoughts, showing pity would likely only enrage the beast, Kalona's were proud - most were simply to blind to see it. Instead he listened, allowed a long pause to fall between them before he answered. "It is a shame you have given up. I would have not expected such from your kind. Fight to the death and all that." He drawled, the words plain and not actually intended as a bad thing, after all if this boy had been through what Sofiel suspected it was a miracle he was still alive. Sofiel simply wanted to see a spark of life, to see the creature snap out of the spiral he was in. "I am not here to kill you, nor was I ever. I do not know this Lana'thel of whom you speak nor do I intend to seek her out to reveal your location. Now, will you listen to the wisdom of an old fluttercorn?" He waited, patience being something he had in the truck load.

Demon growled, and watched the fluttercorn with a new perspective.... perhaps he really didn't know? Something told him that he really was telling the truth... but then, why was he here? Coincidence was also something he didn't believe in any more.
Still, he remained silent, said nothing or commented further. He had however stopped moving, his demeaner more settled though it was possible that he was simply curious about what wisdom the foolish creature before him believed he could install on him.... after all, even in his current state he was a Kalona, his mother and father had installed all the information he would ever need....!

Sofiel watched as the beasts attitude changed, he had spirits, and even if they had been crushed he was impressed that for one so young he seemed to have a small level of control.
He didn't usually like talking, prefering silence and observation but sometimes it was needed.... like now.... "Fight." He paused, knowing that due to this creatures breed it was likely he was well versed in such things, "But have patience, By all means fight, but there are different kinds of fighting. You must learn what is the best course of action. Patience, play the long game. THINK." He emphasised the word, part of him wasn't sure he should be saying this to a Kalona, but Sofiel respected the wild spirit, the drive that had obviously carried this small creature to this point despite the obvious trials of his life... and at the same time it was possible that Sofiel was doing this because he had always wished someone would have done the same for him. He had no parents or relatives, was brought up as an outcast until his abilities had proven his worth....
He waited a moment, it was clear that Demon wasn't going to speak. He continued; "But you know that in part all ready don't you." He said as he watched him, "After all..... you ran." It was not meant as a weakness, far from it. Sometimes the wisest action of all was to retreat, it took strength to accept that.... or desperation.
"In every situation you must think..... like now...." If the young colt was to calm himself Sofiel was sure that Demon could figure out how to escape his current situation.

Demon scowled, the fluttercorns words actually rang true to him; he didn't want to accept it, to accept that someone who was not a kalona actually knew something of worth.
For a change he didn't shout or rage that the information was worthless, instead he simply watched and waited. LIstened.... he actually listened.
"Think!" He grunted, and then turned his head away slightly, wondering if he should really be so negative towards the idea. He mumbled to himself, "....think...." But it was no good, he was tired and his limbs all ached and hurt from their abuse. Thinking straight was impossible, images he would rather forget swirled in his head. Death, blood, pain, fighting, anger, chains.... the Blood-Queen Lana'thel.
He screwed up his eyes. Would her image ever leave his mind? Would he ever find a place away from her?
