Home/Financial Status: Lower Middle Class. Always on the edge of being "poor." Home is a small 2 bedroom that's sort of rundown. There's a small garden in the back that Layton pathetically tries to keep afloat, but has a hard time considering she has no money for supplies. Everything is bare minimal, with no signs of decoration or a little extra money on the side.
Personality:
Layton is better than you. She is soooo much better than you. Why is she better than you? Because she has tons of money, and can get everything she wants with one phone call. She spends all of her birthdays in Europe, and takes weekly yacht rides in the carribean. Her life is perfect.
Okay so the real deal.
Layton is positively dirt poor. She's reclusive, and incredibly insecure. She is the quiet one in the back of the classroom who doesn't speak unless spoken too. She's actually very content to just ride life out, not really caring what goes on in between. Layton is the type who can be alone without being lonely. She's fine and dandy just dealing with her own business and not involving herself in others' work. In other words? She works alone, Robin.
Complimenting Layton's aloof nature, she's also pretty shy. Not as in she doesn't want to make friends, or she doesn't like people, but she naturally second guesses herself constantly. As in, "I want to play cards with those people, but ... they probably won't want me barging in, so I'll just stay back here." She's timid and nervous- like a baby chick.
However, if you can get Layton to actually talk with you for awhile, you'll find that she's a generally nice girl. She's very patient and willing to listen to all your woes, and she's very sympathetic towards others' problems. She's happy to run errands for you, or bake you cookies or anything of the sort.
Due to that though, she's a big pushover. Like the biggest this world's known. She could easily have a neon sign over her that says "bully me," and she would never even know. She'll run errands for you just because she's afraid of not pleasing you.
Not to mention, she's poor as hell. She often doesn't have all the latest gadgets, and if you start talking to her about the new iphone, she'll just give you blank stares. She doesn't even have a cell phone. She doesn't have money to buy new pencils, new paper, so she's often in others' debt as well. Layton truly wishes she had the money to pay for all these things, so that she might not be so looked down upon by others.

Extras: A tiny scar on her arm. It's just from falling out a tree, but she tells the story differently every time. One day it's a shark bite, the next its from a knife fight in Mexico.
History:
Layton's family has lived in Teufel her whole life- as if they could afford to move anywhere else. Layton's family is very, very poor. It's not because they gambled their money or anything like that. They're all very honest, hardworking citizens, that have just been shoved to the bottom of the money latter through chance. Life has just doled them out that way. There's no sob story here, they're just poor.
As such, it's sort of turned Layton rather insecure about her money problems. She tries to work for herself as best she can, but she often has to ask family friends for simple things like books for school and pencils for class. She hasn't gone shopping for clothes properly in years, and any other times she does, it's all at goodwills and thrift stores.
Lately, Layton has seemed even more focused on the money problem. Now that she's going into high school, she's matured enough to know that money doesn't grow on trees and that her parents actually sacrifice quite a bit for their children. She wishes she could do something to help, but knows that as a 14 year old there's not much to do but wait until she finishes high school.
Family:
Mother: Analise Worstead. A loving mother, but she's very overworked and constantly stressed out. She almost always has bags under her eyes, and always has a look on her face that says "I'm tired, can you leave me alone?" She tries to care for Layton, she really does, but with how overworked and underpayed she is, it results in short tempers and a lot of arguments.
Father: Daniel Worstead. Sort of a wimpy father. He automatically submits to whatever Analise says. He has thick rim glasses and just sort of crouches in the corner like a dog with its tail beneath its legs. He works as hard as he can, but it's very clear that Analise rules the house.
Brother: Jason Worstead. Layton's little brother. He's only 2, so he has no clue what's going on. He can say things like "mama" "yes" "no" and "truck!" but he really isn't capable of communication. Layton is stuck watching him a lot.
Turtle: Bibbles. Hey, pets are part of the family too! Layton's family has a pet turtle names Bibbles. They really can't afford him in the least. He really should go to a family that could care for him/pay for his supplies better, but Layton won't give him up for anything. He's their pet turtle!!

Desires: Money money money, must be funny- in a rich man's world.
Pi wants nothing more than to have financial security in her life. Money, l'argent, euros- whatever you call it, she wants it.
(More concretely, after making her contract with kyubey, her father will win the lottery or something like that. Endless money supply.)
Emblem: A coin with the currency symbol on it.
Weapon: Dual wielded swords; flat broadwords, like this. Each one has her symbol in some way/shape/form on the hilt (artist's choice how they want to do that).
Reasoning: Dual wielding means that the attacker has chosen to give up their shield arm and balance for a second sword, meaning more offense. Normally Layton would have had a sword and shield, due to her desires (see above), but considering her personality she is better suited to have the most offense possible. However, it weakens her defense, which I think foreshadows her becoming a witch.
Type of Magic: Levitation of objects. She can only levitate them about chest height. Objects do not include people, large things (trees, buildings) or fluids (river water, sewer water, etc). Whatever she levitates stays in the air right above where it was; in other words, she can't move the objects once placed into the air. They just float there.
Reasoning: It would make it so she can fight with one or two swords, so that she can "pluck" her sword out of the air when she needs to. It also symbolizes Layton's desire to be airy and carefree when it comes to money problems.
Outfit: OKAY SO. I'm basically going to outline the outfit as I see it, but I understand its a semi-custom so ... I dunno. Just go with whatever you want/like XD
Generally speaking, it should overall look like this. The circular things should be replaced with her coin/symbol. The coat should be longer than the skirt, sort of like Kyoko's skirt/jacket combo. The coat should have a more intricate bottom, somewhat like this. She has white tights, and simple blue flats. The gloves are CC, but I'd like them to be fingerless. She should get a simple headband ribbon, like this.
