Hello everyone!
I'm excited to join in on this RP but I must admit that I'm not really familiar with the setting. My mental databank is a tad bit short on information about these regions and age. I don't know how to walk, talk, fart or think like a duke. With that being said, I look forward to solve this problem by learning. smile
Is there something in particular that I maybe should look up on wikipedia?
Also, I'm going to be away for atleast one week soon. So I won't start anything before that.
Oh, and also WHY WON'T YOU LET ME BE THE ARCHDUDE OF AWESOMEBURG!? ):

There's a nice amount of flexibility in terms of how to act. This is partially to help avoiding the requirement that every player be a historian, but also because this is a time where a lot of the hierarchies, titles, etc. are still evolving: Especially in Germany, the relationship between the king and his vassals is still on very shaky ground, so whether lands and titles are at the king's mercy or the ruler's personal property really depend on who's being asked; likewise for the king himself, who is now being elected by the dukes. Any specific details can be filled in if you want -- I'm fairly familiar with titles, realms, etc. that can help flesh out your RP if you have an idea of what you're going for.
For more personal RP, try to imagine a poor noble and you're probably fairly accurate: A lot of the glory of later ages isn't available yet even to the greatest of kings, but there's still no problem putting food on the table. Again, there's a fair amount of flexibility here too; just keep in mind the Renaissance hasn't taken place yet and you should be fine.
I look forward to you asking for a country in a week or so. If no-one else joins by then, I'll probably take a role or two so we can at least start -- people will probably be more interested if there's actual RP going on. smile

I like the map, it makes it more of our own kinda thing. Itstead of a color given to it. It has the shield for the current duke of that vassel(Country) which makes it quite interesting.

I don't know, I kind of worry the map is too... busy. confused
Question about the forums: Does everyone like them divided up -- courts in one area, rules/stats in another, etc. -- or all in one place? I'm thinking the RP should at least be on the main forum, but I'm open to input.

grab a topogrphic map and plant some cities there with paint. We will know where our territories are, and it will make possible a more realistic roleplay when we have to write about that long, tiring travel in wich we were attacked by bandits.

If you're interested in a duchy, the history thread has a basic idea of what their starting situations as well as a map. EDIT: Grr, beaten to the reply... mrgreen (On a side note, the map you posted a link to is the main basis for the one I made.)

Ah, thank you for pointing me in the right direction.
I figured you knew the map, but just threw it up for weirdies like myself who like to see the complete historical picture... or maybe I am just making up excuses for myself.

It's fine; there are a lot of details on that map that aren't on the in-game one since a lot of it is abstracted away (all of the sub-provinces, for example). To put them in now kind of says "Hey, no messing with these", and I want there to be a bit more freedom than that.
I'm moving the stats & map into the main forum to make them more visible. Hopefully any messes will be cleaned up quickly. smile
