Recovery her adopted son had decided that to cover more ground on this particularly hot day . . .so near the billowing sands of the desert they should each take separate directions. it had been quite awhile since she had made rounds by herself so she had to get used to not having anyone plodding along beside her. A few times she had accidentally ended up making a comment to herself out loud as if she was still making it to him. "this heat is messing with my brain . ..that's all." she scolded herself giving her skull masked head a shake.

The sun warmed her back and glinted off of her mask and jewelry as the wind blew hot air and sand through the desert. She was finally getting near to the edge of the desert, which was a relief after spending the night in the last oasis she recalled in the desert.
Nephthys had decided to cross the desert for the nostalgic feeling it alway brought her. Her parents... no, parent had raised her in the desert, until that one had died as well. Her dad had been killed long, long ago. The pelt on her back was near Identical to father's.
As Nephthys kept trodding on her head sank as she thought about the father she didn't every get to know. She knew that everything had to die at some point, but it always seemed too soon for thse around her. She had lost her mate and her mother had died when she was little as well. Her mother had told her never to seek out her grandparents, because there was only one left and he was evil. Her mother exact words were "If you every seek him out, and you do find him... He will not hesitate to kill you." Nephthys had never considered to look for him because of the dire tone her mom had taken. After that she hadn't been able to settle down and had gone through some hard times, until she met her mate. Now he was gone and she was back to wandering.
She looked up and saw the edge of the desert approaching, but she also saw the last thing she had expected to see ever again...

Form the corner of her eye Thesh-ah sighted a glint coming over the top of a sand dune. Turning her masked face to look she saw that it was sunlight light reflecting off of an imposing golden mask. Casually she examined the figure as best she could from her distance for the risk of possible threat. It was certainly a mare and she was certainly of kalona heritage juddering by that spade tipped tail. Mentally her guard went instinctively up her stance however remained non threatening. Well . . . As non threatening as she could manage to look. Watching the figure continue to approach she became transfixed upon the green gem it wore upon its chest. It was odd even though the figure herself was a stranger the gem however seemed very familiar.
((( Thesh-ah got the bone mask affixed to her face quite a bit after she killed her family member so neph wouldent recognize the mask but the armor is something She has always had. ))

Her mother had told her a story of this soquili before, warning her to stay away. Now that Nephthys had the chance to see her in person she was taken back to a long hidden memory of death. Apparently her mother had lied about exactly when her father had died.
A cold breeze brushed through the trees causing her hair to flutter in the direction it was blowing. She was hiding from her father who had spun off into a infuriated tantrum, caused by the instability of his brain after becoming a skinwalker. She had no idea where her mother was, so she had slipped off to hide in the trees. There was a flash as it started raining and thunder rumbled in the sky. She looked up at the sky watching the leaves blowing, rain falling, and lightning flashing. Not knowing how long she had been looking up she looked back into the clearing, which was strangely quiet now, and saw Purple hair, striking green eyes, cloth fluttering around and some sort of armor standing over her father. The memory struck Nephthys with such strength that she had to stop to process it clearly, she couldn't have been more than a foal when those events had taken place. The one in front of her looked almost exactly like the one from her memory, except for the strange mask that she now bore.
A strange calm swept over Neph. She didn't find herself hating her mother for lying nor did she hate the stranger; a little angry yes, but there was some understanding for why she would do it. She had had a bad run in with one of her grandparents once and the results of that encounter were now hidden under the wrapping on her forelimbs. 'Ah, heck. She probably figures I'm a skinwalker,' She thought as she stood looking down at the female. 'Might as well keep going, she's obviously spotted me,' she followed after a moment and started down out of the dunes.
