User ImageUsername : Lilbabe808
Lunarian Name : Tu Shi Tong
(Chinese names are usually written with the last name first but for ease of reading, I'll be putting all names with the first name first.)
Meaning: Her name is Chinese in origin. "Tu" means way, road, path, or journey and "shi" means honest.
Alliance : Noble
Path : Warrior
Personality : ✫ Honest
Tu Shi is a very honest Lunarian. You can usually count on her to keep a promise and to tell you the truth the first time around. She is pretty much a straight shooter when talking and doesn't beat around the bush. Sometimes her honesty can come off as mean especially if she is telling someone something they don't want to hear. But Tu Shi doesn't care much if they don't like it, she feels that honesty should always be heard. She won't say something out loud if it really is socially unacceptable. Her grandfather would give her the lecture of a lifetime if she did. But she doesn't hold her tongue if she is sure she can get away with it.

✫ Grateful
Tu Shi has always been grateful of everything that she has been given in life. Even though she didn't get to live the life of a noble, living with her father taught her to be grateful for the small things. She appreciates the time that she got to have with her father though she still misses him a lot and believes that if not for the Emperor, they could have found a cure. Tu Shi is grateful for her grandfather because he took her in when he didn't have to, though she still doesn't really understand his reasoning for making her heir. She is sure he has some other hidden motive. Tu Shi appreciates all kinds of small gifts or even a smile. It's so hard to find happy lunarians due to the current situation between the noble retainers and the Emperor's legion.

✫ Motherly
Tu Shi is very motherly since she herself never knew her mother. She is very caring of the young lunarians and helps to take care of them when they are sick or hurt. Everyone in the estate knows that they can talk to Tu Shi if they have a problem and she will listen with an open mind. If one of the kids wants to play, then she will make the time to go and play with them. This also causes her to be protective of those that are younger than her and she often scolds them if they do something that could get them hurt. But she really likes keeping everyone happy and safe. Purposely hurting someone she considers in her care can lead to her turning into a mama bear. You don't mess with a mama bear, especially if you are on the Emperor's side.

✫ Unforgiving
Tu Shi is the type of person to never forget a slight. She will always remember the pain of her father's death and she will always feel the sorrow of never knowing her Uncle Yun because the Legion took him away. Because of this, she is driven to get revenge for her family. It is Tu Shi's belief that the Emperor and his Legion are to blame for the reason her family is so small now. To her, they are in the wrong and cannot be forgiven. In general, Tu Shi doesn't hold grudges and can be forgiving in small instances or if it's family. If it is something major, like killing someone she loves or going against something she is passionate about, then that is unforgivable in her eyes. This also means that she shows no mercy or signs of guilt when fighting with a member of the Legion. But she will never kill them, instead she plans to maim them or incapacitate them somehow so that they literally can't fight anymore. Killing them would be too merciful.

✫ Inquisitive
Tu Shi is a very inquisitive Lunarian. She likes to explore, learn, and discover new places and things. Often, she'll come across something that catches her interest and that inquisitive part of her will drive her to learn of it. Sometimes this leads her into very bad situations. Like this one time she found a scroll on the road and there was no one to claim it. She had taken it and found that it mentioned something of treasure in the sea, not that far off shore but it was by some very treacherous cliffs that the waves pounded against. But her inquisitive nature led her to go diving there for it. She ended up getting pulled out by a strong undertow and if it wasn't for that fishing boat that saved her, she would have died.

❀ Appearance!
Skin Tone : Tu Shi has evenly tanned skin. skin color: #D99E4E
Body Style : Tu Shi stands at 5'1" tall, so she is rather short. She is skinny overall and has small hips. She does have a chest that defies the rest of her body by being bigger than one would expect on her tiny frame. She does have nice lean muscles in her arms. The scales on her body are silver and pink #E2747F
Hair Color/Style : Tu Shi has ringlets of curls that fall just past her shoulders and straight, choppy bangs that hang just past her eyes. The color of her hair isn't exactly black, it's more like a faded black #67594B.
Eye Color : Tu Shi has green #729283 eyes.

Clothing Description : Tu Shi wears brown chinese slippers, brown cotton skirt pants with a white and pink floral design, and a pink cotton vest.

References: Brown chinese slippers, cotton vest, skirt pants
Accessory Description : Tu Shi wears a pink choker made of ribbon that is the same color as the flowers on her pants. She also wears silver hoop earrings. She keeps a pair of steel chopsticks in the pockets of her pants. They are there for her protection in case she needs to use it for some reason. The reason the chopsticks don't poke holes in her pants is because the tips are covered with a hard little leather pocket that was meant for covering ones thumb while sewing. She also has an extra pair of normal chopsticks that is used for eating.

I'll leave it up to the artist what the final design of her accessories are.

Notes? : Tu Shi is a klutz and trips over something at least once a day. She can even trip over objects that don't exist. It is not something she is proud of but she can laugh it off since she does it so much.

She prefers to be be called Shi. It is shorter and just easier to remember, or she hopes it's easier to remember. (From now on, every reference to her will be Shi rather than Tu Shi.)

Shi absolutely loves watching lion dance. She just loves to watch the lunarians inside the lion do their jumps and lifts. They make it look so easy, fluid, and effortless but she knows from trying that it isn't as easy as it looks.

User ImageReason: Shi was never really for or against anyone. That is until her father passed away of a mysterious disease that none of the healers knew of. Perhaps if the Emperor had allowed them to explore outside of their culture, they could have found a cure and her father would still be alive. It is not only this personal reason that drives her to side with the nobles but also because her friends at the village are tired of the Emperors rule and secrecy.

Offerings: Shi offers a connection to all the supporters. The common folk know and trust her because she used to be one of them. She still considers herself more a commoner than a noble. She can rally an uprising or more easily bring more people over to the nobles cause especially since she is so passionate about it.

Magic: Weapon Projection Magic
(Similar to seal forming, weapon projection first involves channeling ki; however, instead of using seals to give the magic form and purpose, the chi is channeled into a chosen weapon. The effects it can place on the weapon vary from incredible cutting power or durability, to boomerang effects, to adding the effects of elements. It can cause the weapon to change forms in battle, reacting to the thought's of the caster. With this style, even an object not commonly thought of as a weapon can be used to deadly effect.)

Shi has a strong affinity for fire and through fire, a minor affinity for earth. She has not really mastered her ability of weapon projection magic and hopes to hone her skills while at the academy.

Weapon(s): For now, Shi just has her chopsticks and her kung fu, Tai Chi Mantis. But she hopes to learn a set that involves a weapon she has fallen in love with, the chain whip. There is a Tai Chi Mantis set that involves the use of a chain whip but until she learns it from her master, she does not want one. She feels that she must become good at it before she gets her own chain whip. During practice, she uses her grandfather's chain whip.

She also wishes to learn the fire wheel set as it is so perfect for the element of fire. The element that she has an affinity for.

•·.·´¯`·.·••°o.O𝑇𝒽𝑒 𝐿𝒾𝑓𝑒 𝑜𝑓 𝑇𝑢 𝑆𝒽𝒾O.o°••·.·´¯`·.·•

User ImageHistory: Tu Shi has never known until recently who her mother was. She used to live a peaceful life with her father in Goshin Village. Her father, Huan Tong, was a farmer who farmed rice. She lived with him, learned to cook with him, and helped him in his rice paddies up until he died when she was only eleven years old. He had died under mysterious circumstances. It was an unknown disease, one that no Lunarian healer could heal.

After the funeral where her father's body was tossed into the sea, a Lunarian of noble blood came for her, his name was Jun Lin. He said that her father had sent a request to allow her to work for him so that she would have a safe place to stay. Shi fought with all her might to stay at the home where she was raised by her beloved father. But the noble would not yield and asked a couple of his guards to forcibly place her in the carriage.

She later learned that Jun Lin was a part of the Noble Retainers. Shi had heard a lot about them and in Goshin Village, the people felt that the nobles were in the right. This allowed her to be more accepting of the situation in which she was in. She had been placed in the kitchens as a baker. This came easily enough for her because she had often baked at home for her father once she had gotten the hang of it. Of course, that was all simple bread before and the nobles ate many different baked treats. It was a real learning experience for her.

As soon as Shi turned 15, she was pulled aside by Jun Lin and told the most startling news of all. He was actually her grandfather on her mothers side. She nearly fainted from the shock of it. That would explain the expensive gifts she would find tucked under her pillow, like the silver earrings that she wore. He said her father had wanted it to be a secret from her so that she would never know the life she was missing. But he felt it was necessary to tell her since he was planning to make her his heir. He also wanted her to go to the academy to master more useful skills unlike baking.

Family: 欢Huan Tong (Father - Deceased) [meaning: "Huan" - happy; joyous]
Tu Shi had loved her father very much. His grave is by their home, where they lived in Goshin Village. She always requests to leave on the anniversary of his death to visit the spot where his body was given back to the sea and burn incense. For those that know, she brings food with her and sits for hours seemingly talking to her father. She likes to feed the fishes that live in the area too. Huan was known to be a very happy, always seen with a smile.

军Jun 琳Lin (Grandfather) [meaning: "Jun" - army / "Lin" - fine jade]
Tu Shi doesn't know what to think of her grandfather. Why had he waited till she was 15 to tell her that he was her grandfather when she was living with him? Even if her father said to keep it a secret, it's not like she really craved living the life of a noble. She is slightly suspicious of him but still wants to please him because he is the closest living relative that she has. She believes in his cause and knows that he is only sending her to the academy so that she can become a fighter in the small army he was gathering. She doesn't mind but she wishes he'd be more honest with her.

慕Mu 薇Wei 琳Lin (Mother - Deceased) [meaning: "Mu" - admire / "Wei" - rose]
Tu Shi never knew her mother. Apparently, she was considered a great beauty among the Lunarians. Grandfather Lin told her that her mother died during child birth. He had been driven to grief that his only daughter had died while giving birth out of marriage and with a commoner's child no less. So he banished Huan with the infant Shi which is why they had lived in Goshin Village.

云Yun 琳Lin (Uncle - Deceased) [meaning: "Yun" - cloud]
Yun Lin was her mother's younger brother, the second of the children that Jun Lin had. He was killed by the Legion during one of their many battles. He leaves behind a daughter, Xiang Lin.

安Yasu 琳Lin (Auntie) [meaning: "Yasu" is japanese - peaceful]
Auntie Yasu is Xiang's mother. She does not want any part of this war that goes on outside the walls of their home. It is her influence that has caused Xiang to not care about it. Unfortunately for Yasu, it also caused her daughter to be passed over as heir in favor of Tu Shi. But she doesn't mind so much. It seems that she thinks she'll be better able to influence Shi than she can Jun.

祥Xiang 琳Lin (Cousin) [meaning: "Xiang" - auspicious; lucky]
Xiang is Tu Shi's younger cousin. She is the daughter of Yun Lin and is thirteen years old. The reason their grandfather has decided to make Shi his heir is because Xiang seems to want nothing to do with the war going on outside of their estate. She seems to be more concerned with being a girl and looking pretty. Xiang has always gotten everything she has ever wanted and doesn't know what hard work is. Shi almost feels sorry for Xiang and they get along well enough. But Xiang sometimes gets jealous if Shi gets more attention.

User ImageHobbies: ✫ Baking
Shi has always liked cooking and baking but it wasn't until she was forced into doing it that she really got into it. Her true love is baking breads of all kinds. She's not as into sweets as her cousin, Xiang is. What she really enjoys is making the dough and the smell of freshly baked bread. If she ever meets a lunarian man who can bake amazing bread, she may very well fall in love because bread is the way to Shi's heart.

✫ Guqin
Tu Shi is a player and appreciator of the qin (guqin). When she was little, she used to love listening to any entertainers that happened through the village that played the guqin. After that, she always wanted to learn. It wasn't until after she moved in with her grandfather that she got the chance. For a whole year, she would sneak to watch Jun play the guqin. Then one night, there was one on her bed. It wasn't the one her grandfather played but she was still glad she had it. She is not the greatest at it as she has no training, instead learning everything by ear and from watching her grandfather play.

✫ Tai Chi Mantis
Shi practices Tai Chi Mantis. At her grandfathers estate, it is okay for everyone that lives and works there to request to learn a form of martial arts. Grandfather Lin encourages it and so Shi took up learning Tai Chi Mantis. Even after the masters would leave after practices, she would still continue practicing what she had learned in the gardens. It is the only form of kung fu that she knows. Right now she is trying to make a Tai Chi Mantis set that allows her to use her chopsticks. Maybe one day she could become a master of Tai Chi Mantis if she practices every day.

Okay, m'dear! (8 First of all, I have to say that I've been watching your quest form and reform over the past few days and I've been pleased with how it's evolved! Some problems I had with it before have already been revised, so that's good.

I'll start with her personality, anyway. My biggest issues here are concerned with the fact that you've used both "paranoid" and "vengeful" as personality aspects. I feel that those are more aspects of her that are resulting from her history as opposed to raw personality. You might be able to tie both of those into one particular facet-- like, maybe something describing how she doesn't forget things, which would tie into her constant paranoia as well as her grudge and desire for revenge. Thesaurus.com is amazing for finding the perfect words!

Also, I'm interested in how her honesty might translate to cruelty. I mean, some things you're not supposed to tell people, just socially speaking, so that can hold a lot more depth.

I don't have a problem with her appearance as of right now, since I see you've been changing it for the past few days. I like what you've settled on fairly well.

It's going to be cool to see how your research on Tai Chi Mantis is going to pan out in role plays and especially during battles. I'd be interested to see how you'd utilize that skill in writing. (8

History and family looks decent, but I will allow my fellow critiquers to touch more upon that! Over all, I think that Tu Shi is turning out to be a pretty strong character, and I look forward to any changes you'll make. If you have any questions, go to me on AIM-- my sn is kayasei813.

NOBLES FTW.

Kayakurai

Thanks again for leaving a crit! ^^ First one! Yay! My aim is Tntorres01 if you want to add me. Though I don't go on much.

I will definitely change her personality. Thanks for the advice. I was also iffy about making them individual personality points but was unsure of what to do really. So this helps a lot. I'll put them under one facet of her personality. I'll have to think of what word would fit that though. I'll probably change it all tomorrow after school when my brain is properly working.

I'm a little unsure on what to fill it in with though. I was thinking loyal because those that she loves, she is intensely loyal to but Motherly might be able to cover that. Maybe feisty because I think that word covers the rest of her personality quite well. Though it might not match with her kung fu training. >.< I'll think on it.

I'll expand the part about her being honest. Though I don't think she'd outright say something that isn't socially acceptable. She'd never hear the end of it from her grandfather if she did.

Yay! I'm glad all that changing of outfits paid off. It was so hard to really find something that I thought would match her.

My boyfriend and his dad actually practice Tai Chi Mantis, so I know how it looks like first hand. It's quite exciting to watch them practice! He also does lion dance but I didn't think lion dance would match Tu Shi. Lion dancing, for those really into it like my boyfriend, is more a lifestyle than a sport or hobby.

Thanks for all your advice and encouragement! I'll probably try to catch you on aim when I get the changes done (sometime tomorrow).

Ok, I finally got around to fully editing her personality. I also finally managed to figure out the word for that one aspect of her personality. Yay! So here is the newly revamped Tu Shi Tong. Enjoy and please leave a crit if you happen to stop by! I'll love you forever!
