She was not as much annoyed as hurt.

He had run away from her, first thing in the morning and then it would seem he had wondered off of the edge of the Earth, not even a thank you or a note. Why was he so stubborn? She went to see him when she graduated, however when she arrived at the place he was last seen no one was there to great her, she looked around in hope of finding him - however he had gone, with out even saying goodbye. Maybe it was because of the words they exchanged the last time they spoke. She did not mean to be so harsh with him, she hoped he would forgive her for being so emotional. It crossed her mind, maybe he did not want to see her, bringing up her alliance like... maybe he no longer wanted anything to do with the little student. Maybe he felt as if they were getting too close, if he wished so she would leave him alone. Even if she did not want to.

However she was not a student anymore, or a child, or even a teenager. She was a woman now and a official conduit. If he did not want to see her, then she would have him tell her that. He was not running away from her, it was not that easy!

So when she found out he was back in the city she went on a mission to hunt him down. She was not against making herself at home in his yurt, she expected he would allow her the same hospitality that she had given him. She closed her eyes and took off her hat and cape, disregarding them on a fur pile. Then she waited, did some laundry and then waited some more. She was sat on the ground playing with her hair when she heard noise from outside his home, knowing him he would come in with his sword out ready to face her like if she was a intruder of theif. She grabbed her staff and as soon as she saw the door sway she raised it so if he did try and attack her he would run into it.

"Hero." Her soft voice greeted him, it had been a while.

Bataar was feeling far more weary than he usually did as he trudged back in the general direction of his yurt. His mission had been exhausting, to say the least, and he was glad to finally be done with it. It was good to be home, too-- or so he thought, until he realized that someone had been here recently, or was still here. The clearing looked more organized than it had before, and laundry was set out to dry, which should have been a hint that it wasn't some sort of enemy, but all the same Bat drew his sword from the sheathe on his back, looking suspicious. If those hadn't been his clothes he might have been worried that someone else had moved into his yurt in his absence.

He entered the tent, surprised when his raised sword clacked against a prayer rod, and even more surprised to see a strange woman sitting on the ground. "Who're--?" he almost asked, but no one else called him that. It was Sarangerel, and he couldn't have been more surprised. The captain sheathed his sword, looking faintly dumbfounded as he tried to figure out how best to deal with the situation at hand. "Sara, I-- you--" he sputtered, at a loss.

The last time Bataar had seen her, he'd been leaving her ger in the early morning, and that had been a good few months ago. Since then he'd done a lot and had been fighting diligently for the Nobles, leading a series of successful ambushes upon the northern borders. He had figured at the very least that the student he'd known might forget about him in time, or some such thing. As much as it displeased him that she might, he'd thought he could understand that. It made sense given his sudden disappearance.

Bat would just have to take this development in stride. "What're you doing here?" he finally asked, feeling a little on the misinformed side of things.

Sara looked up at him and smiled, he seemed surprised to see her here - she hoped that was not a bad thing. In truth he had still not changed much, in all honesty she did not expect him to. He was her Hero, he did not need to. "You know, my old master once said a man sneaks out of a woman's tent in the early hours for two reasons; one of which being after he sobers up he realises the women was not as pretty as they remembered, and realises he needs to escape before she is woken, but that is a conversation for another day." She stated with a small smile, lowering her weapon and laying it by her side. She stood up and wondered over to him resting a hand on her hip.

On a more serious note she decided she should really explain herself, she looked to the side a little and lowered her gaze to the ground. "You did not even say goodbye. I wanted to make sure you were not mad with me." She still was not too sure about how he felt about her being here, or if he even wanted her here. She was hoping that what was said that night was because of the mixture of painkillers and the shock from the fight. Tensions were high then but not now, she did not want to continue that drama in today.

She then smiled and on a lighter note brought out a bottle which was tucked away in her sash, she held it out to hand it over. "Anyway, we never got to celebrate my graduation. So I saved you a bottle of my friends special brew." She stated with a small smile, she did not want this meeting to be serious. She was just happy to see her friend again, at least now she knew he was okay. It had crossed her mind that his head might be on a spear in a Legion camp - thankfully that was only a bad dream.

Bataar wasn't surprised in a bad way at all, but he did feel a little taken aback. After all, he hadn't seen Sara for quite some time-- it was odd to think on it. He even had the good grace to look faintly scolded as she mentioned her master's seeming philosophy. "Well, then, he's very different from me." the Mongol clarified, noting that he now had to look down a lot less in order to see the soul conduit's face. This was yet another strange scenario where he was caught up with someone who had grown quite a lot in the preceding months during his absence. The feeling was awkward once again, but he did his best to stave it off. This was, after all, still the same person.

He bit his lip as the Legionnaire looked down and shook his head, feeling that he'd gotten into a bit of a mess without even knowing it. "I wasn't." he said, placing a hand on her arm and again feeling more on the awkward side. "I had a mission to go on in the morning-- I've been up north for a few months now." he added, although he was aware that his defense was probably weak. It just hadn't seemed like a good idea to wake her up at the time.

Bat glanced at the bottle and grimaced, recalling some of the more memorable times he'd been drunk as of late and shook his head, refusing the liquid. "That's alright, really." he replied, seating himself upon his usual pile of furs. He wasn't going to drink anymore of the stuff on purpose, or so he'd resolved, especially since it tended to make him lose his memory and tasted putrid in the Mongol's opinion.

In any case, it was good to see Sarangerel again, even if he wasn't quite sure of how he ought to be treating her. "I see you've accomplished quite a lot while I was gone." he pointed out, referring to both laundry and graduation.

She smiled, Hua was very different from him. For one she herself was a female and living with her taught Sara a lot, mainly that not many men sneaked away from her bed. She chuckled a little at the thought before shaking them from her head, she still went to visit her regularly. She did not feel like correcting him, truth be told she did not think he would be too interested in the stories she had about her old master. She had noticed that she talked about herself a lot around him - maybe it would be a idea to stop that, after all it was her who wanted to learn more about him.

She blinked and looked up at him as he grabbed hold of her arm. Her shocked look soft soon turned into a small smile, he was so comforting in a odd way. He explained himself and she understood, she would have liked a little warning but what was done was done. He did seem sorry and that was good enough for her. "Oh? I see." She nodded lifting up her hand and resting it on his. His hands were still a lot bigger than hers and even though she had grown he still dwarfed her, she never expected to be as big as him but at least now she did not feel so small. She was the size of a average woman so the difference was not that bad anymore, or at least not as much as it used to be.

She watched him as he wondered to sit down, soon after he made himself comfortable she joined him, knelling just off to his side, pushing her hair back over her shoulder. When he commented about about her achievements she gave a nervous chuckle and nodded. "I have, its been a interesting time to say the least." She admitted. She had now settled into her role as a Conduit - she had settled into her home nicely and was in general a lot more comfortable in life, everything was not so hepatic and new. Admittedly it would have been easier if he was here to help her keep a level head, he seemed to be good at keeping her calm and was usually always there to hear her out - not having that, it was hard.

"It is good to see you again Hero, truth be told I was a little worried about you. As silly as that seems, things have really been difficult as of late. A lot of people are dying, I was worried that one day one of the bodies that came to the temple would be yours." Sara has seen so many bodies over the last few years that she had but up a barrier around her heart, she saw them as husks, not people. That is how she dealt with it, however with the body count rising she found herself feeling uneasy. The moment she pulled back the sheet and looked into the corpses face her heart seemed to slow until she was sure it was not someone she knew. Sometimes she did know them - that was harder, yet none were ever that close to her.

She snapped out of her thought. "Anyway, those thoughts are not worth dwelling on." She stated, she put the wine to the side and then rested her hand on his shoulder, Yue would not be happy someone refused her home brewed wine. She was so proud of it. She tilted her head slightly. "How was the North? An adventure I am sure." She stated, maybe he wanted to lead the conversation for a while.

Sarangerel was actually the first person he'd seen that wasn't one of his superiors or one of his men since he'd returned. It was good to be able to sit here and speak with someone normally, not doling out commands or dealing out death. Her hands were still tiny, in any case, which assured him more than anything else that everything was still the same between them. Or, as much of the same as could be counted on given that Sara was now an adult.

He offered her a grim smile as she commented upon the higher frequency of deaths as of late. He was, he supposed, partially responsible for the new numbers. "No, it's really not that easy to kill me." Bat assured her, removing his shoulder pauldrons and running a hand over his face. It had been a while since he'd spoken to someone he could actually trust, after all. It was almost a novel experience for Bataar at this point in his career. He knew he shouldn't be speaking openly with a Legionnaire like this, but he couldn't see what harm it might do. It was just Sara, after all; there was nothing wrong with this.

Bat nodded, taking more time to take in the girl's new appearance. He supposed he owed her at least some explanation of his trip. "I like it better up north." he explained, heaving a sigh. It reminded him of his former home more than anything else when he could feel cold wind against his face. The northern regions of Lunaria always affected him in a way that he liked, in any case. It was as if they made his head a whole lot clearer.

He continued, knowing that he ought to give her as much of a description as possible. "I had to carry out a few ambushes-- nothing interesting, really." he spoke, realizing that he was blatantly mentioning the deaths of various legionnaires, some of whom Sara might even know. That quieted the man down a bit as he groped for another subject, looking irked. This was not something they ought to be touching on, especially considering their differing alliances, after all. He'd have to figure out something else.

"Not all adventures turn out to be very pleasant." he said finally, a note of regret in his voice. He was a noble captain-- it was nothing he could really help.

She smiled at him. "I have never really been up North, maybe one day I can see it, I can not remember the last time I had a vacation - maybe you could even tag along, you know because you are the one with a portable home." She could not imagine what it was like but knowing that he enjoyed being there made her want to experience it for herself. She had worked so hard lately, she needed a break and some time to just be herself and let her hair down. She was sure after these few months of none stop missions he would properly need a break too. Maybe it was something they both needed and heck she might even get him to open up a little when he was not so stressed and busy. Thinking about it she quite actually liked the idea even after saying it offhand.

She laughed a little when he said he was not that easy to kill. "I will hold you too that, remember I can talk to ghosts - if you do die you will still not escape from me." She stated sticking out her tongue a little. It was a odd thought, she would be able to talk to him after he died but it would not be the same, she would not be able to see him and feel his touch. How strange that would feel, to have him close by but not actually there. She leaned a little closer to him, her hand falling down from his shoulder and onto his arm where the needles had been. He was here now and she was almost trying to prove it to herself - either way she was glad his arm was better.

"That is true enough, work is never very pleasant these days." She stated with a off smile, she could tell he did not like talking about work in-front of her - truth be told she did not understand how the two always ended up on that topic but it seemed inevitable. Maybe they would always be reminded that the two were on different sides, maybe it was a good thing. It reminded her they could be friends but never actually get that lose, she could never have a huge effect on his life because she kept away from so much of it. It was sad but she held onto hope... maybe after the war ended the two could be closer, just not now.

Though she heard something approaching, she tilted her head and looked towards the door. Clearly all kinds of things came to mind, maybe it was Odval, maybe it was one of his men, spirits, it might even be one of his superiors. "What was that?" She asked, her voice no more than a whisper not knowing if she should be making much noise at all if any. She looked to her Hero to see what he wanted her to do.

Bataar nodded, although he'd never actually been on a vacation in his life. The idea of one now seemed strange and foreign to the man who tended to work so hard. It was as if the thought had been drilled into his head that it was his absolute duty to remain always and do as much as he could for the Nobles-- probably his mother's doing, really. "Vacation?" Bat crinkled his nose, not thinking that the idea of it seemed terribly appealing. What would they even do if they went on vacation, anyway? "I can't go on vacation." he concluded, pursing his lips. Bat was under the impression that the nobles needed him, and probably for good reason, too.

He snorted about Sara's comment that she could talk to ghosts and shrugged, looking as if he thought himself to be fairly invincible. He would never be a miserable ghost or anything of the sort! His attention was suddenly distracted, however, when a tap came from just outside the yurt. The captain turned serious quickly and placed a finger to his lips with a meaningful look at Sara before ducking out of his yurt to meet the visitor just outside.

"Seon Lee?" he asked, looking at the fighter with evident surprise. "Why are you here?" The man was in his company and had never before visited his yurt. It was a bad time, too, with a Legionnaire soul conduit just inside. The man looked faintly intimidated by Bat's questioning, but determined all the same.

"Uh, well, good work decapitating that fighter the other day, Captain-- the one who uses the short sword. The Legionnaires weren't pleased about that." Seon complimented Bat, looking faintly in awe of the muscular man. "The lieutenant sent me here to ask you about your mother's student, however." Upon hearing his words, Bataar paled, but the man didn't seem to notice. "They'd like you to see if you or Odval could keep track of her-- apparently she's been helping out a few too many Legionnaires so the lieutenant's not happy that Odval's giving her lessons..." he trailed off, noting that Bataar's look might easily be compared to a thundercloud.

Bataar waved his hand in dismissal, watching until the fighter was long gone into the depths of the forest. He then sank down onto a tree stump, rubbing his temples. He'd known this might be coming, after all. Perfect timing, too, he thought, looking at the yurt which concealed Sara. No doubt she'd heard everything. "s**t." he hissed to himself, gritting his teeth.

Their friendship was now a question of trust.

She stayed as still as she could when he left and told her to be quiet, she did not want to move and she even held her breathe as often as she could. She felt a cold shiver run down her spine - this was scary but to be honest quite a rush, she was not used to doing things she was not allowed to, she was a good girl. So this was new for her.

Sara held her throat as she heard him talk, hacking off someone's head? That was a little morbid. However she should not be surprised, he killed people, it was what he did, it was who he was. She could accept that, she told herself she could. When he was sure the other man had left she stood up and wondered to the door, opening it slightly to take a peek. She saw him leant against the log, she smiled and then swung it open and wondered over from behind, she reached down and put a hand on either of his shoulders. Her hair falling either side of his face as she leaned over him. "Keeping a eye on me, eh?" She asked, almost like it was a good thing. "Sounds like fun, how close is he wanting you to look?" She asked with a small smirk, a hint of harmless sarcasm to her voice.

She blinked and looked at him, she thought she heard his swear but she was not too sure. "Hero, why so glum? You have an excuse for being around me now. This can actually work to our advantage." She explained trying to get him to see things from her point of view, did she miss something? Was she being stupid and childish again?

"I-" She began before she stopped to rethink her words. "I know you would not hurt me, don't worry about it. Hero, you have trusted me with your life and body before - I am willing to do the same." She stated with a small smile, she wanted him to smile, she wanted him to believe her. She closed her eyes and let her hands fall from his shoulders and down his chest, leaning over the log she rested her head next to his and gave him a small hug. "Though I might have to go soon, I do not want you getting in trouble if there is a chance of someone else coming back - just come and see me soon okay. Promise me." She asked feeling his hair on her face taking in his sent. He was so warm.

Bataar glanced up at Sara with a hint of misery that he instantly tried to hide. Her approach confirmed that she'd heard everything, and he was expecting a smack as opposed to her hands upon his shoulders. "Sara..." he cautioned the soul conduit wearily, his eyes upon the area to which the fighter had disappeared just moments ago. "It's not funny. They'll have told Odval, too." If Odval thought that the Nobles thought she was doing something wrong she'd immediately launch herself into action in order to correct herself, unless she'd already been working on some sort of a plan to do so.

He shrugged his shoulders, trying to rid himself of the young woman but probably failing to some extent. "This is definitely not advantageous." he added, looking irked. "If I don't come up with information from you that could damage the Legionnaires-- friends of yours, even --then they'll send someone who actually does know how to spy, or they'll enlist Odval. You don't want that." Explaining such things was painful, but it had to be done. He couldn't be so thoughtlessly trusted as he currently was, or she'd definitely end up in a great deal of trouble.

"You're too optimistic." he growled, feeling very cross. He was worried, too. The man would be viewed as a traitor if didn't divulge as much as he knew to his superiors, after all, and in that case he wouldn't be able to be there for his men. He had what he considered to be good friends among his company, but he also had something of an allegiance to Sarangerel. There was no possible way to choose.

Beyond that, Sara trusted him, and he wasn't entirely certain he was to be trusted. "Yes. Go." he said, feeling a lump forming in his throat, muffling his speech to some extent. He wasn't sure she understood how integral he tended to be when it came to decisive battles and ambushes on the side of the Nobles. If she'd known, she might not be displaying so much affection, if any at all. "And actually try to think about what you're saying." he snapped, knowing that his frustration was building a little too much right now. If Sara trusted him this much there was no telling how much she might trust another Noble who might really betray her.

She felt him pushing her away. "You make it so hard." She uttered closing her eyes as she was scolded once more. He was always talking down to her, he would never see her on his level would he? He would never value her thoughts as much as his own because in his eyes she was still a child and she hated it. "Do you want me to hate you? Is that it?" She asked in a voice no more than a whisper. She let go of him and stood up looking to the sky. Maybe before she would have cried, however not now. She was not going to cry, she was not going to prove to him she was the child he saw her as.

So that was it, they could not see each other anymore, she could not train under her teacher anymore? Odval was scary but she had never done anything too drastic. Maybe it was a idea to hide from her but he was different... He was...

She clenched her fist slightly. "I am not stupid, you kill Legions. One day you might even kill one of my friends - or maybe even me - but that is the war, two people fight and one lives. If one of my friends tried to kill you then I do not blame you. I can not force myself to hate you. I have tried and told myself I should but I just can't..." Maybe she was not strong enough. She shook her head and took in a deep breathe, he might have been raising his voice but she was determined not to. She kept hers gentle and calm. She wished they were not talking about this.

"Her- Bataar. Captain Bataar. Do you want me to fear you? Don't you want me to trust you?" She asked, she was just so confused, she did not know what to do. A part of her wanted him to tell her, he always knew best. Maybe once upon a time it did not matter to him but if things changed. She felt her heart racing, that was it - she was going to loose another one. "I am not a child, you can not talk to me like that anymore. I know that we should not be friends but... I..." She sighed and turned around, she wondered into his home and put on her hat and cape. What did it matter, he was not gong to hear her. She came back out to look at him.

If he had anything else to say she would hear it. "I am sorry, maybe I am a little too optimistic or maybe I have deluded myself into thinking your something your not. I just.... I am sorry. She bowed slightly, feeling a lump in her own throat, she did not want it to end like this. Why were the spirits so cruel? Maybe that night Tengri himself was trying to keep her away from him.

Bataar knew that he was being insensitive to some extent but also wanted Sara to understand his point-of-view. "If it's your instinct to hate me then you'd better go ahead." he advised her quietly, head bowed as he studied the ground for no apparent reason. The fact of the matter was that she was a Legionnaire and he was a Noble and there was really no changing that. It was a dangerous position to be in, which Sara still didn't seem to be able to understand.

"Well, given the fact that we're in the middle of a war I'd expect more prudence from you." he responded sharply, even as his facial expression fell. It was an unavoidable subject by now, especially if Sarangerel was going to act so damned happy-go-lucky. "It's not a good idea that we even associate." he added, feeling rather demonic. He was managing to blurt out everything he'd rather not think about within this space of time, and it was faintly devastating to admit. Sara had made herself obvious to the Nobles, however, and they'd be expecting information on her-- good information.

He watched her retreat into his yurt and come out, ready to leave. "Is this how you're going to act, then?" he sighed, looking dejected. "You'll get yourself killed." he muttered in clipped tones, feeling almost certain of it. Perhaps that was why he was so very on edge-- maybe, at the end of the day, all he really felt was worry. This was the one person who would probably bother to track him down these days and not attempt to kill him. That seemed kind of important.

In any case, his approach was fairly pragmatic given his goal. "Just--" Bataar hesitated before shaking his head. "Go. It's better if you go."

"What do you car-" She started however her words soon halted in her throat, then she realised. Her anger faded away and she felt as stupid and childish as ever. She took a deep breathe and shook her head. Wondering towards him and reaching out to touch his arm gently. He did care and that was what was the matter with him.

Her one visible green eye raised to look into his, her voice a lot softer than it was before. "You do not mean that." He did not want her to go, not really, he just felt like he had to say that. "You do not mean any of this really, you are just angry." She went on as if she was explaining his emotions to herself. Thinking about it he had never been good at expressing himself, maybe he was counting on her to know him well enough to read him. Suddenly guilt hit her, she was truly sorry about how she acted and the things she said.

She gave a small nervous chuckle, her long hair cracking behind her like a whip. "Your just trying to be nice and look out for me, damn it Hero. Even when you are being a total pain in the a** its for my own good." She went on with a small sigh, she was trying to understand but at the same time she was trying to work out how this could work, it was frustrating that she did not have the answers. Maybe he was just as frustrated. "Listen, you can not protect me forever. At one point you are just going to have to let me go and pray I can fly." She nodded before letting her hand fall off of his arm. He was worried she was going to die, just as much as she worried for him. Though admittedly his worries were more justified than her own.

She lowered herself and gave him a bow, hair draping her shoulders and almost touching the floor. "Thank you." She was grateful, she truly was. Though admittedly she was also a little sad, he always seemed so indestructible to her, seeing his cool composure compromised was something she did not expect or know how to react to. She just knew that if they left once more with harsh words she might loose him, so instead she would try and be mature. Like he expected her to be.

She wondered to his side, at the last moment standing on her toes and leaning up to his ear. "Listen, come to me later, in secret and we will try and resolve this like adults --- if not, I promise I will never bother you again, despite how much it will kill me to do so." She explained, she did not want it to end like this, maybe if they spent some time apart she would come up with something. If Huang and Kyung could meet and get on in secret then why would it be impossible for her, Sara always went well out of her way for her friends, Bat was no exception.

"Goodbye Hero." She patted his shoulder gently before turning to walk away.
