Enthallion stood chest deep in the stream and munched on the green plants that were anchored so precariously to the edge of water smoothed rocks. Occasionally the current would switch and his intended green victim would elude him and sweep out of the gentler eddie that he stood in and out to the raging water. It was only yesterday that Enthallion had realized that he had become a little taller than his mother-for-all-intensive-purposes Opal. he pondered his seemingly sudden change in stature and realized that he had been with his herd for a while now and it was quite possible that he may be the same height as Ion and Tide now.

Taoshira had just exited her former home and just took off in a direction. Tears clouded her vision but she didn't care, she just kept running. She couldn't tell how far she had ran but she was becoming very tired and her mouth dry. Tashi knew she would have to stop soon, so she slowed to a trot, and eventually just walked. Now, without tears to hinder her vision, she looked around and had no idea where she was. She did, however, smell water nearby and decided to follow her nose in order to re-hydrate her exhausted body.

Enthallion dunked his head almost completely under the water so he didn't hear anyone approaching his chosen snack bar. He had hidden this place from his uncle Tide or he would never have alone time here. His uncle was obsessed with water to the nth degree and Enthallion liked occasional, nonjudgmental quiet. This was his time to relax and stuff his face. He prayed that Tide never found the singing stream.

When Taoshira got closer to the source of the water she found that it was a stream...and also occupied. She froze, but it seemed like the occupant didn't even notice her approach. After what had happened with her mother, she was very cautious about other horses and hoped this stream wasn't in anybody's territory. Under normal circumstances, Tashi would have turned around and found somewhere else but the hot sun was unrelenting and she needed water after the hard run she had just taken. Tashi wandered a little farther upstream in order to try to not bother the stream's other occupant. The cool water rushing down her parched throat was a relief and she closed her eyes to relish it. She wondered if she should say something to the stallion that was downstream, but ruled it out and decided to just see what would happen.

Enthallion brought his head up and heard a loud slurping noise. he looked around curiously and saw a young beautiful mare drinking like this was the first stream she had come upon in days. "Excuse me miss, are you all right?" he asked with concern in his voice. Slowly it dawned on him that she was very pretty and about his age. "Is there something I can do to help?"

His voice startled Taoshira a little bit even though she had been expecting it. Tashi couldn't help notice that the stallions eyes were a beautiful gold like his markings. She said somewhat shyly, "Oh, yes. I'm sorry for disturbing you, sir, I've just run a pretty long ways and this was the first stream that I have noticed along my way." Pausing and taking a deep breath she continued, "Thank you, but there's nothing really anybody could do to help me...I'm kinda on my own now..." The last part of her sentence was was said sadly as she remembered her adopted mother and longed for 'home'.

"On your own? Who were you with before? Was it a stallion?" Now why on earth would I ask her that. Enthallion cocked his head in his own confusion, a multitude of water plant hanging from his mouth. Thali sighed. He would have to ask uncle Tide about this. He had zilch for experience with mares except for his mom Opal. Enthallion noticed the dangling water plants and spat them out quick. "My name is Enthallion of the Bull Pine Herd." At least that is what he had come to call it, he could never remember the correct name as it was long and foreign sounding.

Taoshira let out a small chuckle at his stallion comment but quickly grew somber again. "No, though I wish it was that simple..." She couldn't decide if she wanted to explain her situation to this stranger. Even though he was a stranger, there was something about him that she liked, whether it was how handsome he was or his humor. "My adopted mother that took me in when I was little forced me to leave earlier today. She's very...solitary and doesn't really like other mares or stallions around in her territory. So now that I'm grown, she figured it was time for me to leave also." She said in a sad voice. Then, remembering her manners, "Oh! I'm sorry, my name is Taoshira. Enthallion is a very nice name but I'm afraid I've never heard of the Bull Pine Herd." Tashi lowered her head slightly in her shyness.

"Our herd is very small yet, currently three stallions (including me) and one mare." said Enthallion. "Taoshira is a very pretty name." he cocked his head. "Solitary you say, does this mare perchance live in a very well tended forest?" he wondered if this was the mare that Dark Ion had told scary stories about when he was a foal. Enthallion had laughed so hard when he heard the real story behind the ghost tails. Dark Tide had laughed to until they got to the stinky part and he sneered at Dark Ion as he had remembered the god awful stink.

Taoshira was alert at the correct mention of Voreti's forest. She suddenly wondered if she had sent him here to make sure she was ok. Tashi decided that that was ridiculous because Voreti wouldn't have known which way she would go or anything like that. Relaxing a little bit, "You know Voreti? Her forest is very nice, and up until today, I had helped keep it. It has some of the most delicious apples, which was actually what drew me into her forest in the first place." She pondered over his 'herd', it didn't seem like much of a herd to her, but she wouldn't know. Tashi always wondered what it would be like to be in a herd, though living with Voreti kept it just a thought.

"Well i don't know Voreti myself but my asoptive father knew her and used tails of her to entertain me as a child." Enthallion smiled at the memories of Ion's tails. "Those apples must have been very sweet to draw someone as pretty as you." Enthallion said and slowly he strode out of the water. this revealed the yellow ringlets on his leg and his warm looking brown hooves. Enthallion had an athletic build and was a fast runner, but none of this would help him with mares. He would simply have to rely on his own charm and his inner self.

"Oh?" Taoshira said at the mention of Enthallion's adopted father. It seemed like they might have somethings in common. Enthallion's comment about her being pretty made her gasp. Since she had grown up in the forest with no one but Voreti and Mercedes, on occasion, she had nothing to prepare her for the wooing of males. "Well-I--thank you." She replied lamely. When he was all the way out of the water, she took the time to size him up. The first thing she noticed was his yellow markings, they were strange to her, but she thought they looked handsome and brave. Next she noticed his build, this stallion would surely be able to stand his own ground. Finally, Tashi got her head back and figured out something less lame to say, "The apples in her forest were the best thing I've ever had. Granted, I stumbled into her forest unbeknownst of Voreti looking for food as a filly. Nor, at the time, did I ever dream on growing up there...." Tashi paused and looked to the ground in embarrassment. "Or leaving..." She said under her breath. Shaking her head, her braid loosened and a few strands of her mane slipped out of the tightly braided plait. "Do you come here often?" Tashi asked him in hopes of switching the conversation from her onto him.

Enthallion was entranced by the wild bits of mane that had dared to escape the braid and had to nearly shake himself before he realized she had asked him a question. " I uh um no, this is a special place for me and I come when I can but even then it is not very often. You see I am attempting to hide in from my uncle. Not that he is sinister or anything but Tide does like water and I'm afraid if I let him find this place, I will never have peace and quiet again." Enthallion sucked in air after his speech and looked to Taoshira for a reaction.

Taoshira nodded, "I happened on this place by total accident so I hope I didnt intrude." She paused and looked around, "Peace and quiet is nice but...this place seems special, its no wonder you want to keep it a secret. Your secret is safe with me Enthallion." She said truthfully. "And to be honest, I probably wouldnt even be able to find this place again." Tashi said with a cute laugh.

Enthallion laughed. "Thank you Taishi you have no idea what that means to me. Would you like to visit my herd. There is a safe place under the great tree tonight if you want it?"
"The path here is rather twisty and turney isn't it?" he smiled. "It took me a while to memorize the path and for the longest time I had to trace my own footprints."
