Regardless of your sanity, your character's sanity, or the sanity of the very readers that will read over this adventure... One thing is certain. The tales regarding A crack in one's sanity will be recorded here.
No character application is necessary at all. No prior planning is involved. In this thread, your character will develop and manifest themselves as the story progresses. You may begin by elaborately fleshing out your character's story in the very first post, or you can slowly unravel their past as the story goes on.
So, what is the story? At present, the story is what we make of it. I will be adding in a few story hooks for us to pursue, but it is permissible for any player to add in a new aspect or twist to the story. (You don't always have to add a twist, but every now and then is perfectly fine).
So how about an example, you're thinking? Surely, this is easy to accomplish!:
A nearly sane example
Sirens rang out, deafening guards and adventurers alike, followed closely by bright explosions. Flames shot out and enveloped the bodies of the living, leaving mere charred forms in their wake. It had all gone for the worst. Everything was falling apart. The airship was crashing, all stability control had been lost, and several of their own were dead. It was truly a hopeless situation.
...and then a twist, by the next poster.
Enter insanity,
Worse yet was the man that stood tall, laughing. He, the mastermind behind this all, was untouched amongst the destruction. The one that was pulling the strings behind everything, and who had orchestrated the plans that took the lives of those all around. That man was many things, and was deserving of a fate worse than death. Only one word fit him as he was. One word summarized all that he was, and all that he had done. It had been, and would always be who he was.
